Loud enough I'd still assume you are down to run it in "mexico". I know it's normal in most countries but in the US diesel cars are still quite rare. Most important thing, does the butt dyno actually feel a change?

Wish you all a safe and happy year end and look forward to 2024.

I still haven't moved to 11 on my main rig... but I'm willing to give it a try and see if the "every other windows is *decent*" motto is still true. Unfortunately there is still some legacy software and certain games (old, new and unreleased) that only run well on Windows.
-
I'm ok with the pc version being delayed. We'll end up with the better, more polished version. With the current state of games these days it seems you have to wait a year after release to get a remotely finished version anyways. Besides, by then I'll probably have justification to upgrade my 6900XT.

Yea, brakes were installed quite a long time ago and the issue has really gotten much worse over the past few months. Even in very hard braking they seem to function fine so maybe a shim failed, though I'd imagine that would be quite rare.

Well, had my brakes looked at by the only mechanic in the area I trust (me and the gf have been going to the same guy near enough two decades). Apparently my rotors, calipers, pads, etc. on all four are perfect. I'm still getting ridiculous brake noise on the front passenger and if I heat them up it makes it much louder. Wondering if this is as simple as the metal expanding and hitting the dust shield.. Waste of $80 on the stop tech pads but I guess it's good to have them in advance. Got the aluminum oil cap installed... it's the simple things in life sometimes. Doesn't get hot to the touch and it's so much easier to remove. Ask Nissan/Infiniti owners about the crap stock oil cap and the fact that you end up using pliers or a mallet to get it loose... Windshield washer tank cap also replaced... and again a case of crappy oem design, the plastic used makes something from the dollar store feel like luxury. Also changed out my AFE "Magnum FLOW Pro DRY S Air Filters" for some Z1 motorsports dry flow replacements and the fitment is much better. Now I have to actually do the parts that require actual effort... such is the life of the lazy.

I used a 6900XT on pci-e 3.0 16x with zero perceivable difference compared to 4.0 16x. From my understanding, It actually matters much more when you are at / over your vram limit on your gpu and the slower bus absolutely can affect it. I'm sure a 4090 or such would still see a performance regression going to pci-e 3.0 16x but you'd likely need a hell of a cpu to push it to that point in the first place.

EXTREMEHW Foldathon November 24-26 UTC (3 DAYS!)

Thanks all, much appreciated and I look forward to the next one. Hopefully I'll have more gear churning away for it. -
Thanks for the heads up about Stoptech's production, hopefully the brakes I bought were from a better quality factory. That said, the HP+ are not available for the "non-sport" version of my car (2 piston vs 4 piston) so it was either the standard HPS or Stoptech Sports for more money. Good or bad, the HPS went out of stock and I ended up finding the stoptech's $10 cheaper on another retailer (amazon). I also meant that the stop tech's' apparently dust a lot more than the HPS, which I'm ok with as long as the performance justifies it. My current "performance" akebono ceramics are no longer made and they were already slightly better than what I had but don't dust at all. I know dust is typically a compromise with performance so hopefully the stoptech's don't disappoint me. Thanks for the heads up on cold performance too, I will definitely have to keep it in mind (though my climate should help a bit here). I prefer not to use my brakes so I rarely get them too hot unless I'm hitting a spirited run or need an emergency stop of course. I'm also hoping there is enough life on the OEM rotors to get one more surface clean and pad slap out of them. If not I'm just getting some decent brand treated blanks and not bothering with slotted non sense. Going to likely order some ATE TYP 200 brake fluid again as it seems the best price/performance for a street car that want's the brake fluid to NEVER be the failing point. My order from Z1 motorsport *should* be here tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that. Can't seem to put my finger on it but this seems questionable.

Be careful with Techron. In the only two cars I've used it in it destroyed my catalytic converters. I was agressive with it on my old '13 Hyundai Accent with a direct injection motor and the cats broke up and clogged. Used it on my G37 and not even a week later the cats broke up, thankfully didn't clog but they are broken up and rattle now. Perhaps complete coincidence and bad luck but I've heard similar stories from others. Side note anyone have experience with HAWK HPS pads? They went out of stock before I could order them and ended up with Stoptech Sport pads and from what I can find they are better but dust a hell of a lot more. I'm ok with that though as long as the stopping power is worth it. Don't even track it but the idiots around here are making braking my #1 priority.

Got a few things to buy this black friday - The oil filter cap seems like a waste of $50... I completely understand... until you try to remove the factory one with your hand when the engine is remotely warm. My Windshield washer fluid cap also mysteriously disappeared on me too recently which is cool. Realistically I also need to add high flow cats to replace my broken up one's but I'm going to need a proper tune after to remove the inevitable CEL. Side note - Ran a 2016+ Challenger R/T on a fairly fast roll start recently and he couldn't believe I was stock aside drop in air filters. I think he must have had an issue or couldn't drive stick because I beat R/T's but not THAT badly. Then again I never started at that high of mph and those things are bricks as far as aero goes.

In I guess officially, always forget to say something. Not expecting any wins but it's only a single system for now. Xeon W-2145 and Quadro P2000 - nothing special -
I lied mine was 2012

Rolled with a Subaru group tonight for a dinner/cruise. Vaping confirmed on their end so as an Infiniti owner with a rattling exhaust, fading paint and a drivers door that won't open from the outside I just put on my monocle and top hat than proceeded to remind them that aside of the modded (& tuned) 2020 STi in the group, they were all slow. Yes, even the 2023 WRX owners felt the shame. In all seriousness it was a good time and the jabs were all in fun. Too bad it started raining of course so my open diff RWD wasn't exactly going anywhere except spinsville if I gave it more than half throttle even on a roll.

I use the 1tb version of that in my laptop which replaced the OEM SK Hynix 256gb model it came with (can't recall the model but it was not nearly as fast as the P31). It's been rock solid and I bought it for the same efficiency reasons. I'm usually a Crucial fanboy as not one of my ssd's from them going back to what, 2011 with my 128gb Crucial M4, has failed thankfully.

Thanks man, I should have also read the first post, too. Unfortunately all my Nvidia GPU's are either dead or have been given away. Come to think of it, that Geforce 4 ti4200 128mb model I have is the only working Nvidia card I have at this point. 10900 is a 10 core yes, not oc'able but will boost to 5.2 and hold 4.6all core. I think my 11900k will outperform it for any of these tests. I recently bought a 5775C to replace my 4790k but need to update the BIOS on my z97 board to support it, curious as to how that would do in some of these.
-
Any room for a 11900k / 10900 (non k) / 4790k / FX-9590 to be useful here? Looks like my 290X may be useful and I also have a socket 939 opteron 180 and a 1gb of DDR1 c2 500mhz (2x 512mb). Unfortunately the board I have for it won't oc so it's probably not going to do much good. Also have my GF4 ti4200 128mb card I can fire up. Ironically my biggest issues that I only have .iso's and keys for Windows 10 / 11.. Haven't ran any retro system in years.

Loved that keyboard, unfortunately mine died randomly after only two or so years of use. -
videocardz Rumor Has It: Intel's Next-Gen Arc Battlemage GPU Packs 64 Xe-Cores
SoloCamo replied to bonami2's topic in Rumour Mill
The a380 cost me $120 new from newegg and it's the smaller asrock challenger itx one. The software alone in that bundle cost more than the gpu and I needed similar software so it more than paid for itself. Now I just have to get around installing it (and building said pc it will be going into). -

Picked up an A380 recently and will be pairing it with a 10900 and 64gb for a media server / multi use secondary pc. Wanted AV1 support and it was the cheapest route. The fact that it currently has a pretty decent software bundle currently made it more than worthwhile. -
Going to vouch for Timespy here. Out of all the gpu benchs I've run, this one would always crash and need 10-20mhz lower on the memory to be stable.

I pay for 500 down a month but usually get over 600 down, especially through steam. My upload is a disaster though and is usually at 25 so I'm not sure why it's this bad considering it's about 5am.

Good news. I'm still not a fan of this tech as I prefer native, but the improvements being made have made me test it out a bit more. Likely to get some more mileage out of my 6900XT at 4k as the tech becomes acceptable to me.
