No difference aside from higher clock speeds for the core and different memory which gives a nice bandwidt bump. I'd imagine that would help with this type of work but I'm talking minuscule numbers here. I only bring it up because 6950xt's are usually around the same price.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind about the filters as I can easily cut the right size out for it instead of ordering the overpriced cartridges. As far as the Nano thank goes, it's actually due to space constraints of where I'm putting it. The tank is going to be in my office area and is going to serve as a decorative piece more than anything. I've had larger tanks with success but being we are renting the home I don't need a larger potential for water damage. I'd love to do a salt tank again but the whole renting thing is another reason I can't. I'm just hoping to find plants that are nice on the eyes or unique. Wish they'd flower underwater but I know when that does happen it's not normal and they don't last.

All good. 6900XT's are getting hard to find so do consider the 6950XT's as well, they will close the gap even further on the 7900XT.

@UltraMega On the initial topic of freshwater tanks... I'm actually repurposing my nano 3.7 gallon tank and instead of subjecting a single fish to it (a punishment, even for a betta IMO) I was going to make it a planted tank with nothing else. Going to use substrate, a small heater of course and it has a built in filter w/ carbon cartridges. Light is LED (but either white or blue so not full spectrum). Are there any specific plants you'd recommend? I'm mainly looking for a tank that pretty much runs itself with minimal effort. I've grown anubias, amazon swords, etc. Are there are anything unqiue or colorful for that matter that are fairly easy?

Welp used the electric pressure washer as I normally do to get bugs off the car and it's not decided to rip paint off the front bumper (there was a chip that's now decides to flake off and take other paint with it). Good times. $100, a case of beer and cost of materials paid for if anyone wants to paint my car lol.

Not a big difference between the two considering the 7900XTX was barely faster... if you already have the 6900XT I wouldn't bother with the upgrade to a 7900XT and that includes for every task outside of Topaz as well. That said if you are considering both of these over your current Vega 56, I'd go with the one you can get at a better cost/performance. 7900XT does have other benefits though such as AV1 encoding and newer features plus the extra 4gb of vram.

I just want a card near 4090 performance with 20gb+ of vram and a 300w or less tdp and I'm sold. What I feel like I'm going to end up with is whatever midrange AMD GPU they put out for their next gen since they aren't going to have a proper halo card. I'm hoping it's closer to a 7900XTX performance wise with a much lower power envelope. If neither AMD nor Nvidia deliver I guess I'll be riding with my 6900XT yet again. I took a 290X from 2013 to 2019 or so, I can hold off another gen if needed. It also helps that there aren't a ton of games that I actually care about that require more horsepower...

I used to be a percussionist but gave it up years ago. My GF bought me an electric drum kit to light that fire again but it's just not the same, I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't appreciate a proper kit anyways though.

And Rock Auto / UPS have either lost my package or the shipping just isn't updating (per support it's probably lost)... good times. At least I got the rotors in faster than expected.. Picked up the box and complete forgot how heavy plain old blank rotors are, thankfully I didn't do a twist while lifting with your back move when picking them up from the ground.

Thanks for all the help everyone, I've actually not deployed the setup as I just upgraded my my ISP plan from 500mbps to 1gbps for an additional $5 a month (If I'd known the price increase was that cheap I would have did that a year ago...) Upload is still crap at 40mbps but it's better than the 25mbps on the prior plan so this is helping the cameras a bit at least when they back up to my Arlo camera's servers. I'll keep you all posted with what I end up with.

It's funny, the longest lasting Betta I had was a Veiltail rescue from Walmarts piss poor treatment. The little plastic container was brown to the point you couldn't even see the fish. He lived many years in a 10 gallon tank. All my "special" and expensive Betta's since have been a disaster. As far as my tank, I unfortunately do not have any pics at the moment and it's certainly in no condition that I'd be proud of to show at the moment with no inhabitants. We are going to try another Veiltale Betta in the coming month or so so I'll follow up with pics. That said... here is a pic of Mr. Cranky face (that wasn't his name, but I did call him Mr. Fishington) in the tank when I was adjusting the lighting schedule, so please excuse the disgusting excess hair algae at the time of the shot. He looked angry but he was by the far the smartest and most lively Betta we've ever had, but again, unfortunately taken too soon as have all lhe recent Bettas.

Funny, my first vehicle was a 1987 SporTruck with the same config, 2wd with the BA10 5 speed. That transmission was made out of glass though. Unfortunately a drunk driver tboned that truck while it was parked in the drive way, launched it a good 30 feet and if it wasn't for a large tree it would have went right into the bedroom where my elderly neighbor was sleeping. Oddly enough the drunk driver that hit it was the wrester "Bam Bam Bigelow's" niece. It took the police an hour to get to the scene and she very much was sobered up by then so no charges were filed and I think she got wreckless driving at most. She had to be going at least 70mph around the curve (35mph speed limit) to understeer across the yard like she did. Anyways, that's how I ended up with the 1988. Same config, a SporTruck model with the 4.0 but it had the bulletproof toyota AW4 4-speed automatic instead. I get offers on it all the time but sentimental value and all that, plus it's a Florida rust free truck (besides some surface rust).

I grew up in basically a zoo with a dog, multiple cats, salt water reef tanks, amazon river style fresh water tanks, bite you badly fish tanks (lionfish, niger trigger fish, wrasses, etc.) amazon parrots, parakeets (bred them as well), cockatiels, turtles, anoles, ferrets... I can go on. That said, since I've been out of my family's house I've only ever had fresh water fish. Unfortunately I have not had luck aside from an amano shrimp that I swear was related to godzilla because it survived everything and anything. My girlfriend has a thing for bettas (tangerine kois especially) and we've had multiple but it's like over the last few years the ones being sold are extremely inbred and they die very easily. I've never had such problems in the past. Right now we are down to a micro tank (3.7g) with nothing in it but drift wood. That said, I've picked up gardening recently and aside from my cherry tomatoe plant not doing well in the humidity down here all are doing well. Ghost pepper, Cubanelle pepper, hungarian hotwax pepper, orchid, peppermint, basil, snake plant, dusty millers, and I forget the rest off the top of my head. Aside from that, anything automotive... but my budget doesn't let that hobby thrive outside of just fixing issues that come up with my daily driver. I've got what is now a project 1988 Jeep Comanche but again, money is the reason it sits.

Glad I'm not alone in this... when it comes to electronics I'm a bit of a hoarder.. I swear this box full of IDE cables will be of use to me in the future as will the hard drives manufactured in the 90's....

Thanks. Stock routers as far as OS on them goes (new one is TP Link, original is Netgear). I'll assume setting it as an AP will still allow switch functionality from the four ports on the back? I'd like to eliminate the 5 port switch and replace it with this router. Also, currently setup as a single subnet. Perhaps I've read wrong info online, but wouldn't the addition of the second router create a separate subnet? As you can tell, I'm VERY rusty with networking.

Regardless, it comes down to the individual and some people are unfortunately mentally unstable (and dare I say evil) regardless of parenting. I was the kid you speak of playing games I should not be playing (having much older siblings plays a big role there), but I also have good parents that instilled good morals. The amount of outrageously violent games I played at a young age had zero effect on me as even to this day I feel bad stepping on a bug unintentionally.

Came here to simply see if you had ublock which is the only thing I run these days... I'll keep an eye on this thread. That said, does Adblock Plus not interfere with ublock or cause unnecessary slow downs?

Hello all, I've recently picked up a new Wifi 6E & Wifi7 capable router to assist with my Quest 3 performance as it supports 6E. Currently I run the original Wifi 6 single router which feeds an unmanaged 5 port switch in the main area of the house. What I would like to do is use my current Wifi6 router in place of the unmanaged switch while also using it as an Access point for devices that are closer to that area. Realistically these two routers will only be a a room or two apart from each other but the second router will be far closer to my security camera. To land the plane here and get to the point is there really any benefit in doing so? Is it as simple as just plugging the current cable from my main router into the wan port on the second router? I'd like to keep my security cameras as if they couldn't see my main network but from my understanding the second router can still communicate with the traffic on the main router? I've created a rough chart below as a reference point... Thanks for the help as always!

I was looking at Bosch also but ended up with Centrics due to the slightly cheaper price and the supposed reputation I've read for them on multiple forums. I didn't go with their budget non coated "c-tek" line which is apparently generic but ok in a pinch. They are a large manufacturer for multiple brands apparently so for $68 each I'll see how they do. I was going to go with Z1 Motorsports (as many people do with Z's and G's) but they only offered it with slotted, or slotted & drilled.

If I buy Intel again I'll probably disable the E-cores and go for the highest clocked 8c16t system I can get.. hopefully that will keep the consumption reasonablish...

Parts will be arriving soon to finally figure out some brake noise and vibrations.. Centric Semi-Coated Rotors for the front (blanks, no slotted or drilled nonsense) StopTech Sport front pads (had these but finally putting them in since I'll have new rotors) RAYBESTOS EHT905H Element3 Hybrid Technology rear pads and doing a fluid flush with BOSCH ESI6 which apparently exceeds 5.1 DOT spec so it should last a while without needing replacement

You sound like me when I had a 4790k. Ended up waiting six generations to upgrade. My 11900k is going to have to hold me over for a bit as my 6900XT is the bottleneck for me in 99% of things I do at this point. The 7800X3D is extremely tempting though, especially with it's lower power use. I'd like to keep my system usable with a 700w psu as a computer nearing 1,000w is silly to me for gaming... Guess I'm getting old because power was never a limiting factor to me in the past. As far as purchases go... I'm getting all fancy these days...

My car would be absolutely immaculate if I didn't have to do with the Florida sun, let alone the humidity on top of it. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that instantly ignites anger and impatience as much as swamp ass. You can shower three times a day but 15 minutes out in what feels like an alien planet and it returns.

Mailbox hit by a car... security camera thread.
SoloCamo replied to SoloCamo's topic in Chit Chat General
Unfortunately it's perfectly legal and very common. That said, we have been here 9 years now and have a fair landlord all things considered. They do not give us a hard time and we are also paying hundreds less per month for rent compared to the market rate. Ha, I wish my mailbox story was a bit more entertaining but it is what it is. Reolink is a name I've heard of many times and it looks like they have two wifi based cameras that may fit the bill (one being 2k, the other being 4k) - thanks. I will be running direct power to it and it will suck if I lose power but the Arlo will still be in place with it's built in battery to hopefully cover anything in the interim. I've researched this a bit in the past and Blue Iris always popped up. My home network is using consumer level hardware (basic modem from isp and netgear router) so I won't be able to setup a separate vlan. Are these systems so vulnerable still at this point? My potential plan as it stands is to have a wifi camera connected to the network which records to a PC that I can host Blue Iris on. The pc will be overkill for it (i9 10900 / 64gb ddr4 3600) so I may see if I can set Blue Iris up in a VM.
