2026 7th Annual Folding Challenge (Jan 25-31 2026) Hosted by [H]ardForum
damric replied to damric's topic in Folding@Home
Prize for MOST WORK UNITS completed during challenge. Sorry USA only unless you want to pay for shipping. Board is just a couple months old. Was in my main rig and I just upgraded. Has a chonker VRM and tons of USB and great audio. Ideal for a streamer or studio work. -
There were some serious server issues at folding@home this year. I stopped posting the monthly foldathons because of it. I assume they are back on track so if we have a descent turnout for the [H] competition I'll resume those.

2026 7th Annual Folding Challenge (Jan 25-31 2026) Hosted by [H]ardForum

I'll actively promote it on the Azalea City discord and see if we can get a few guests to join. -
Week long team challenge. If you can turn on extra machines for team 239902, do so during the last week of January. No need to join [H]ardForum, but you are welcomed to do so for trash talk purposes. When: The event will be Jan 24 10AM PST - 31st 10AM PST https://hardforum.com/threads/2026-7th-annual-folding-challenge-jan-25-31-2026.2045313/ I'm going to see what prizes I can put up for EHW, so stay tuned for that.

There is more evidence of the rumored refresh of the 9000 series SKUs. I read about a 9800X3D with higher clocks, and 9950X3D with 3D cache on both chiplets. This could mean a price cut for existing SKUs soon. I'm also watching the 9800X3D price but I am very patient.

Collection Server Pain - Finished WUs can't be uploaded
damric replied to CoolGTX's topic in Folding@Home
I was reading all of this on the official folding@home forum. They seem to be aware of the problems, but haven't figured out the cause. Is it still hanging up for everyone? -

41% of the TPU ppd is former folders from EHW that never made it back after the transition. Another huge chunk is one former EVGA folder. We have always been on good terms with both of those teams.

Run with lower power limits. It's what I have to do or the house will burn down. I normally fold at 80% GPU clock. Actually. I cranked it up a bit higher just now. 95% GPU clock speed and CPU limited to 75C on 20 cores. My water temp sensor * itself so I'm flying blind. I was going to replace that this week but I reckon I can wait a few days.

EVENT START How to participate: During the competition you must be folding for Team 239902 Stats: You can view the stats for the foldathon here: https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com Mind the EVENT START TIMER as it is UTC time zone. Folding is stressful on hardware, and will often break an overclock unless it's been tested with folding. I do not recommend overclocking high end GPUs as the power draw can be extreme while folding. If anything, try tuning for energy efficiency. Casualties happen and EXTREMEHW can not be held accountable if you destroy your hardware while folding. Link to V8.4 Client Thank you for your participation!

Right now I'm playing that game, you know, the one where you see how much coolant you can spill on your most expensive * and see if it still works the next day. -

Been lucky the last couple weeks have been lower temps although near constant rain. Like only high 90-95F though still 75-85F lows. Had a break in the rain yesterday so I took the dingos to swim in the creek and the water actually felt cool around 75F so that was really nice...as I'm watching for gators. -

Been looking at that B850 ASrock mini-itx I have the HDV/m.2, which is fine for benching, but it really sucks ass when I put it in my main rig. The onboard sound is especially terrible. Yeah modern motherboard choices suck

Well it looks like my event start button didn't save right. I'll have to redo that when I get a minute, but you all know it starts midnight UTC. -
