It's going to go up a few dollars, depending on how much hardware you are folding for the 48 hours, and how you tuned it. Sometimes we get cash prizes from donors here to offset this. For our extreme team, which is folding 24/7, a lot of us are using low power hardware which helps. Be sure those laptops stay cool

I don't blame you. My office is always hot because of the machines running. I'm working on a solution for that at least for my hottest rig. I'm going to install the radiator to blow out the window. I already got the long hoses and stuff I just need to put it together.

One of the best things I learned about running folding@home, it's brutal. If there is even the slightest instability, it's going to let you know. Consider these monthly foldathons a very good stress test. It runs AVX very hard on the newer CPUs, and I've had a couple Ryzens that I had to turn off the boosting so that it would not crash. It's sensitive to memory overclocks in that it hates errors, particularly VRAM. For GPUs I have to dial way back the overclocks that are stable for 3D rendering, as they just aren't as stable crunching proteins. For the 48 hour foldathons, especially in the summer it's a good idea to tune for low power efficiency so you don't run up the light bill and heat up the room so much. Weak power supplies will also not manage so well. Make sure they have cool air feeding them.

Yeah like Avacado said, for these 48 hour foldathons, just let it rip and fold as much devices as you want. We have a 24/7 competition here also called the Extreme Team. That's where you use 1 piece of hardware on 1 key. I think the ETF team members should know better by now so maybe we can delete this verbage from the 48 hour competitions, but occasionally a veteran ETF member will still goof this up like my old team captain @Supercrumpet and throw off our ETF scores

Pretty much just download the client, get a pass key from F@H, start the client, enter your identity, pass key, and our team number. Be sure to tell us what your folding name is just in case it's different than what your username is here. Keep in mind that the time zone for the event is in UTC time zone, so for us it starts Friday. See the countdown timer if it is confusing.

Oh hell yes. I'll get with @bwalker36and make this happen. I'm thinking for next month's foldathon, and maybe we can scrape up even more for that. Speaking of which, I conformed with @axipher that this month's foldathon, which I will announce soon. Tt's going to be June 25th at 0000.

I don't know what's going on with points but they seem very erratic. Those little Pascals are dangerous. Are they overclocked? I'm eyeballing a better ETF card for Michele than her GTX 750.

Ok a lot to digest here. How will this affect our folding and HWBOT teams, ect? I think we can keep them alive if we can keep the discord open. Discord is free right? How much does it cost to keep the site alive as it is? If you don't want to disclose that, I understand, but that information may be helpful to those that may wish to help out.

Is there a limit of how many 4-pin PWM fan extender cables I can use? I need about a 4 foot run to get to the window. I have been wanting to mount a big ass radiator in the window for some time. In January and February it can intake cool air from outside. For the rest of the year it's like summer year so it will be exhausting.

I saw Luumi in my youtube feed recently, but I recognized the name from hwbot. I watched a couple minutes but I'm always kind of bored by halo products. Give me that low bin stuff and leave me lots of OC headroom and I'm happy. Speaking of HWBOT, I earned a few points today for the team. Our team is small but we have consistent members benching what they have. We're growing too. It seemed like just last year there were only like 2 of us active.
