  2. Continental Extreme Contact Sport - are not to be used below 45 F - probably not the tire for your part of the world. Thanks for the feedback on the Sport 02 & Pilot Sport 4S

  4. I'm late to the thread; however, it may be helpful to both OP & future loop adventurists Make sure you clean the loop parts before assembly - tap water is fine unless you have hard water/ scale issues, always final rinse with distilled water. Dry & cover parts if you not going to fill loop & just need to make a multi day process out of it. You do not want mold growing in dark, damp & warm parts. Cleaning with tap water, do not make a solid connection to the parts without a pressure control valve to limit water psi to about 4 psi Max. You can hold soft tubing near the tap when rinsing parts as long as the flow is unobstructed. Water cooling parts are not made to take lots of pressure - you can damage o-rings & plastic parts @ house water pressure levels. Read the directions for the pressure tester you buy & you will see just how low of pressure you should limit testing / cleaning to Budget (they are cheap) for a air pressure loop tester ... it will save you time & give you peace of mind. NEVER power the PC until you test run the coolant pump for enough time that you are sure there are no leaks. Use paper towels to look for ANY liquid transfer. EK-Loop Leak Tester Flex is a fast and safe way of testing for possible leaks in your liquid cooling loop https://www.ekwb.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109848388.pdf max pressure is on Page 6 Koolance is simply the best coolant that will easily last 3 years or longer. I have used EK premix & also used distilled with a biocide ..... wish I had just started with Koolance, it would have saved several loops from gunk & damage to the plating --> Koolance 702 Liquid Coolant, High-Performance, Colorless FYI: Also, as your new to this do Not Mix metals ... NO aluminum in your loop as the galvanic corrosion will destroy things. Any loop with aluminum (think AIO cooler) has special coolant & all parts are compatible by design. ---> EK even says do not use silver "kill coils" with their nickle blocks Links -8-A & 8-B listed below are all about the loop & coolant chemistry & worth the time to read Having a plan on how you plan to drain the loop & making the provisions to drain the loop in the future, does come in handy & makes life much simpler Drain plan: 1) where does the drain connect (lowest point being drained) installing a valve helps prevent making a mess & you should plug/ block the drain in case of valve failure removable drain line that screws into the valve is my go to - gives me the length to reach the edge of the workbench & into the collection container (used distilled water 1 gal ) in a pinch QD can be used, just expect some liquid to spill when you open or close the QD joint. 2) where will you let the air into the part(s) being drained - any plug near the loop high point can be loosened or eventually removed ---> To "do the Math to compute heat loads" TDP & Calculating Delta-T (excerpts) First tip: Google is your best friend to help find TDP (Thermal Design Power) of your components to be cooled in your loop. (CPU watts @load + GPU watts @load + GPU watts @load+ pump watts) x 0.85 = Loop TDP watt estimate To help calculate a full system TDP, you can download the interactive TDP and radiator estimation sheet (link) I* put together to help you. 7. My Toy / not a daily driver 2019 ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang, With the ROUSH extra tune for another 40 HP - ROUSH claimed HP & Torque ---> Produces 750 horsepower/670 lb-ft of torque over 500 lb-ft of torque at just off idle = a fun ride & plenty of acceleration on street tires
  8. Earlier is better in North America, when it is coldest. However I am not sure how many participants are in other parts of the world, in their warm season. It all depends of your target market & the goal(s) of running the contest, besides a boost to your team's overall Folding standing Prizes, shipping expenses & "Government fees" for cross border shipments ...... would calling it a "Gift" & not a "Prize" make any difference? Shipping in general has gotten way more expensive over the last few years A couple of other ideas, besides what has already been suggested "group funding" 1) you could limit the award of (some/most) prizes, to avoid cross border shipments & those additional fees ? 2) Gift cards instead of items? Though I have no idea if gift cards incur, cross border fees 3) Winner is responsible for shipping & government fees ? Last years contest was full of great prizes, however maybe more "ExtremeHW swag" & less new products could still be a great way to motivate participation?
  9. BQ Pure Loop 2 FX 360mm - arrived late yesterday once I get a chance, I have a new rig to build, with a AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (16 core CPU) - to test this AIO
  10. That is Fantastic & very generous of be quiet! Thank you very much for looking into this & getting a quick answer & resolution. I was trying hard to resist the temptation to just open & use the 280 on an impromptu test bench setup to test some parts; as I just figured I would need to return the 280.
  11. So the Good News - seems my prize a be quiet! Pure Loop 2 FX arrived today The bad news, they sent a 280mm unit, I thought the prize was supposed to be the 360mm cooler? Based on the link on page one be quiet! PURE LOOP 2 FX Did "Newegg" - sender per UPS make a mistake? Or did the Sponsor need to make a change based on current inventory?
  12. Thanks for letting me play, I had a great time. This was the only folding contest I've done in the last year. Everyone in this contest, you all ROCK in my Book So Fold what you can, for the Greater Good Thank you ExtremeHW for the space, invite & hosting a great event
  13. @ firedfly Your turn, any photos or details to share, I see what you did there. Nice PPD jump
  14. OK, you want a peak behind the curtain. The things we do for Folding for the Greater Good & in memory of Loved Ones & in support of those still in the Fight for LIfe Max Folding 37 Million PPD open air, CPU custom loop Beast. Note the 4090 dwarfs the 3090Ti KingPin - PCIe 4.0 x8 with (2) GPUs CPU is 16 core AMD 5950X & MB X570S .... pumps out the points & they crazy stuff you do for contest points, call-up the retired soldiers. Not pretty but very functional, 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra - out in the breeze & yes, the huge beast inside of that case is another 4090 ,,,,,, my older X99 MB. CPU i7-6900K this combo is a slacker @ only 32 Million PPD both GPU run @ PCIe 3.0 x16 Room temp 15C Hope you enjoyed the peak behind the curtain For those NEW to Folding: - Get your Passkey for quick return points - Kill background nonessential stuff in the background of Windows - Tweak Nvidia Control Panel .... you want Performance settings --->> Not max Quality settings - Tweak Windows performance - In Folding Client .... under configure, Set your Slots to ---> Next-Unit-Percentage = 100% (next WU does not download until your current WU is done) - Colder is Faster ......... Nvidia Boost has the last word in GHz ..... keep them cold for max performance - If your into OC software, find the sweat spot for your GPU .... remember Colder is Faster edits: (added a few more thoughts for the new folders out there) - Do Not use your gaming OC settings, dial it back ... Your rig needs to be rock solid or WU will Fail - Every WU is different in the demands it places on your Rig & the number of atoms is a big factor - a Quality PSU is the most important, yet sometimes undervalued, hardware in your rig; it is an investment in stability
  15. it is nice to be noticed I started slow as I was undecided how much power to throw at this contest. Then I took notice of your hole shot & how you blew past your average PPD. This motivated me to forget about the electric bill & crank my systems to 11 Wanted to help keep you motivated as you were beginning to look lonely way out front all by yourself. weather improved, the lair's windows are open, keeping most of the GPUs @ 45-50C ... even after cranking my OC settings up to 11 4090s rock at folding reactivated several 3080Ti - that were idled, as I was getting ready to list them for sale, post 40 series upgrade Yes, watts of electrons were harmed to make this Folding for the Greater Good, happen I'm happy I could help push you, to Fold even harder ... the more WU that get done the better
  16. might want to look into running Koolance fluids, I've heard from many 4 years with no issues, is possible
  17. firedfly was fast out of the gate with a big lead ... OK, lets see if I can real them back in a little
  18. I was looking for that type of link earlier .... never found it in the thread & I'm new here. I've got over 30K posts in my "home" forum where I'm also a Mod Thank you
  19. Will the forms (on page 1) populate with the folders names before the First Points drop? RE: Updates In one spot is says points updates every hour "Note: Stats are updated every hour at XX:25 for previous hour of submitted Work Units." However, On the newer form it mentions every 3 hours?
