At the very least, the product would have had to be under a 400 USD marker, sub-350 USD in my judgment.

Looks like it's just barely under a 3060ti. In the witcher 3 the 1080ti is faster but the 6700xt beats the 1080ti in a lot of other titles.

In that case, the MSRP is terrible.

 

But I guess these days MSRP doesn't matter. Honestly hard to form a good positive opinion on anything reviewed in this market without real MSRP's existing. 

 

Edit: But since they are providing MSRP's for the bizaro world where these are in abundance and MSRP's are real, color me not a fan. Max this card should be is $400. And I mean max.

Yea for sure, but at least we finally have cards that are cheaper than a 1080ti and also faster. 

And yea... MSRP is a pipe dream. Even the retail outlets have the prices inflated.

I don't know, 1080 Ti is a different class of card. While I agree with your sentiment, to me the better comparison is this vs what it replaces (the 5700 XT), and its a price-hike for mid-range. It's not even just price creep, it's a price hike.

How's it cheaper. I got my 1080ti on LAUNCH day for 770 dollars (with tax) and here we are 4 years later and this thing cannot be had for less than 800 bucks?

Your comparing msrp to the scalper prices. I just mean at least they're msrp is finally where it should be, not that msrp even matters at all right now.

I mean the overall MSRP at every segment is higher than it used to be...higher than I think inflation would account for, though admittedly I am speculating that. I can at least give Nvidia credit for bringing a 102 chip back to the $700 card. But what's with all these $500ish MSRP's for mid-range now?

My point is that the 2000 series was more expensive than the 1000 series by a major amount to the point of not making sense for most people. Not until these newer cards have we finally gotten to a point where there are GPUs that are both faster and cheaper than a 1080ti was at msrp.

Ah ok, that makes sense and I agree. There was at least an uplift in performance this gen vs just adding a new rendering feature and jacking the prices (20-series).

 

It was especially disgusting to see the 70-class card last gen being on a 106 die yet being the most expensive 70-class card ever.
