So.......after much delay I was finally able to put together my plexi duct for ducting the hot air straight out of the window board I made with vents.

It is crude and done with a glue gun... function over form lol.

Once I have moved forward with my new job, I can get it all setup and running.

Well it looks like the 6x Tesla M40 cards I was going to use in this machine will not work out as they simply refuse to play with the RTX A2000 as a controller card, which I did fear. This combined with the Tesla's are a little loud with the current setup, having them in a tiny office with a colleague would not be very fair on their ears lol. So I am going to sell the Tesla card with a view to getting more A2000 cards. They are close in PPD to the Tesla cards, so I am good with that.

However, does any one have any suggestions so far as some decent AMD cards  that would run at least 1M PPD ? I figure I may be able to get the AMD cards running alongside the Nvidia A2000

What is the budget for these 1 million PPD AMD cards? You aren't going to like the cost compared to the NVidia counterparts.  RX 5600's might be your best bet, they are going for between $150-200 quid on ebay. I don't know what the used market looks like in the UK though. I fully understand your driver and noise pain. I had a ton of issues with drivers using them when mine were functional.

Well put it this way. If I were to get more A2000's, they are like £300+ each. Anything around £200-250 is OK. I just know when mixing GPU's, I will likely have more luck having a single Nvidia card driving the system and a bunch if AMD ones for compute. Less likely to have driver issues ironically. If I had to stick with all Nvidia, they would all need to be the same card, others drivers make me cry. Thanks for the suggestion of the RX 5600.

Will always be Windows. Same card as it keeps life simpler to be honest.

This was a cool read and I'm envious of the older server hardware.

Is this thing still in use?

No not anymore. It was a cool setup but ultimately not hugely efficient with respect to energy consumption vs PPD.

Yeah, this makes total sense with the 3xxx and 4xxx from Nvidia being such good folders with way less power consumption.
