When Halo: Combat Evolved was originally released for PC, it was widely pointed out that, despite performance improvements, the game itself looked like a downgrade from the Xbox original it was based on. 343 Industries is now experimenting with the visual fidelity for Halo's PC port, trying to emulate the Xbox visuals.

Any excuse to play Halo 1 again is a good thing in my book. Best one of the series IMO. This is long over-due.

A bit of back story, the original PC port of halo from back in the day was made by Gearbox which did a lot of PC ports for other studios back then. There were a few graphical effects that didn't make it from the xbox version to the PC version. The MMC version of Halo 1 is based on the Gearbox port and thus those effects are still missing.
