LinkUp PCIe 4.0 Riser

I had picked up a LinkUp PCIe 4.0 PCI riser via Amazon a little while back and finally got around to test it out on a PCIe 4.0 GPU - works like a charm, no hick-ups at boot, no fps loss ...so I ordered another one for the dual mobo build. FYI, the TT PCIe 3.0 risers that came with the TT Core P8 and P5 work fine in 3.0, but in 4.0 mode >> black screen, as expected.

..fyi update: The 2nd LinkUp PCIe 4.0 arrived today and it also performs w/o any issues

Yeah that seems to be as expected, they are fairly pricey to be honest...but it is "new" tech so far as risers go.

True, it is new tech, but still feels like gouging when a 3.0 variant can be had for 20$ or less. After all, it's just wires, rubber and plastic right?

No doubt, they are overly expensive for what they are. I refuse to believe the material costs are that much more. That being said, the other reason any company will bring up is "R&D". I have heard that one a lot lol.

...yeah, I'm sure they carry an 'R+D' premium, as this is a revised version (after R+D done by...customers ? ) and one of the various strings is actually doubled up (so two strings on top of each other, each with its own plastic shielding).  

 

..the TT PCIe 3 risers that came with their Core P series cases don't have that
