The Marketplace section - A brief guide

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

So I wanted to create a very brief guide to go over the Marketplace section to help solve any immediate questions.

Marketplace Categories

When using the marketplace section, you have the following categories to choose from.

Sale: Used for selling items to other members for a cash value.

Trade: Used when you would like to do a straight trade of one product for another.

Wanted: If you are looking to acquire a product, you would use this to put up a wanted ad to see if any other members has what you want.

Appraisal: Used if you are needing other members to evaluate the worth of a product you may sell.

Marketplace Advert Submission Form - Overview

When you create an advert you will be presented with various section for filling out, the below is to server as a brief description for each section.

Item Condition - This is where you tell interested parties the condition of your item from New, Used or Used Other. It is important to be realistic and truthful to avoid misrepresentation of your item.

Packages Available - You can select how long you would like your advert up for, from 3,10,20 to 30 days. For each period selection we have a "Featured" version. The featured version is a premium advert variant meaning that your advert will be further promoted across the marketplace section and will appear on the forum homepage.

Advert Images - As you would imagine, this is where you upload an image of your sale item.

Advert Information - This is where you will create the titles of your advert along with the description of the product. It is important that you be as accurate and succinct as possible. Furthermore in this section you can specify the quantity of the item you are selling along with adding a location of the item (optional) which can aid in showing another user whereabouts the item is coming from. This could help with respects to collections.

Price - This is where you set the price of your item, or how much you are willing to pay in the case of a Wanted ad. Due to a system limitation, you have to fill out ALL of the currency fields here. For currencies you are not interested in, please fill it with a 0.

Additional Information - Here you can fill out geographical areas you are willing to ship to, or in the case of a wanted item you can select areas you would like to purchase from. Furthermore in the case of sale items, you can offer buyers collection as an option.

Contact Details - From here you can select how members contact you from you ad. You have PM selected by default, however you can also choose to provide an email address or in the "Other" field you can put in other methods of contact such as direct call, Whatsapp, Telegram, Skype, etc.

Shipment - Here is where you can add shipment methods for a buyer to choose from.  In the "Shipment Name" field you will want to enter the type of courier & service used. In the "Shipment Value field" is where you will put the cost of said service. Due to a system limitation, you have to fill out ALL of the currency fields here. For currencies you are not interested in, please fill it with a 0.

What payment methods are accepted?

PayPal. For security reasons and for buyer/seller protection we opted to use PayPal.

I have sold something, how do I get my money?

When a user has paid for your item, your monies will be held in the EHW PayPal account as the middle man. Your monies will be held in the form of Credit on the site. You can use this credit to either purchase site items or subscriptions. If you would like to withdraw the credit into your PayPal account as a cash value you will want to visit the Credit & Withdrawals section (Also located under the Marketplace section on the site nav bar). From here you can select to withdraw the credit, you will then be asked to provide a PayPal email you would like the monies to be transferred to.

I could be missing it, however I do not see the classified section in the main forum listing. Also I did not recall if the were subsections for listings: Cooling, video, main components, etc... If there aren't it could get quite crowded and hard for a potential buyer to curtail search results.

@ENTERPRISE - I want to put up my 5600X for sale, but I am confused by this form. When it is asking for the price of the shipping options, is that for if I am asking the buyer to pay shipping? Like put in $20 for the "Shipment value" field if buyer pays, or put in 0 if I am paying as part of the price shipped? (Like if I ask for $220 shipped).

That would be how much you are asking the buyer to pay for shipping. 🙂

Perfect. I had a feeling that was the case but wasn't entirely sure. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hey E, I ended up selling something I had in the appraisal thread, so I made a new thread to mark it as sold. We exchanged payment info via PM, but now I am confused how you get your cut? @ENTERPRISE

Hopefully didn't do this wrong. Let me know.

AFAIK, the site can't get a "cut" if payment is exchanged NOT through the marketplace here. 1% is taken from the sale at the time of payment from the buyer through the listing.

Ah, I guess I didn't understand how the payment system worked after marking it as sold. So that's my bad then. We exchanged PayPal in PM. I'll send you the cut E as a donation for the screw-up.
