Windows 11: Release Date, Requirements, All We Know

Recommended Posts

Quote

Microsoft's next-gen desktop operating system, Windows 11, is already available in beta preview and will be released by holiday 2021 (though perhaps not for upgrades). Over the next few weeks and months, Windows Insiders will get to try out all the new features and watch as the platform matures .Here’s everything you need to know about Windows 11 right now.

Release Date for Windows 11: October Likely

At its initial press conference, Microsoft said that Windows 11 would be out by "holiday 2021," which in theory, could mean any time between October and December. However, the company has now strongly hinted that the OS will launch on October 20th, showing that as a special date in several sample screen shots of the OS and other press materials.

However, it sounds like the initial launch date will be for preloaded systems and not necessarily for users who have Windows 10 to get an upgrade. A Twitter post from the official Windows account said that users wouldn't get free upgrades until 2022.

I only use my ARM laptop for insiders because I can't do that on my main PC's. I'll have to see if it's an option for ARM because 10 is already meh on ARM.

I had to enable the trusted platform stuff in my cpu,but now I'm Windows 11 ready on THIS comp.(my dell fails because secure boot is turned off and I think it'll still fail because the cpu is 2nd gen i7.  I'm including a zipped version of the Windows pc health ck'er that has the Windows upgrade ck'er in it if anyone wants to try it. 🙂

It's going to be another free upgrade.

That really shows how much money Microsoft is making by selling the data they are mining from everyone to again offer a free upgrade.

Just for S and giggles I installed the update checker in Fedora Linux, it installs, but immediately closes.  I guess I can't upgrade to Windows 11. 😂
