Steel Mesh for case mod.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know of a good place to pick up quality steel mesh ? Black preferably. Would be handy if they ship to UK.

I am modifying the top of my case to create a new vent space, as I am looking to make it removable via magnetic strips, it needs to be steel and not aluminium.

Any recommendations on something of good quality ?

Thanks,

E

I'm actually getting close to needing some myself, though I am in the US. I've assumed I'll be able to find something suitable on Amazon, but if anyone has any better recommendations I'm open to some.

I've done s.th. like that before yeas back. You can get bulk window screen insert material from most home hardware stores /departments in various mesh sizes, as well as steel or plastics.

I bought some of what follows back in 2016 that I thought was pretty good at the time. Seller is on eBay and the listing says they ship worldwide:

...ahhh, just noticed it was aluminum. Still, I thought it was pretty strong stuff for what it was.

The last time I used mesh in a build, I used this.

Modder's Mesh. Make fan guards, grills, cooling vents, window overlays. Improves airflow and looks great. Honeycomb Modder's Mesh is...

Or you can get larger sheets from McMaster-Carr.  They also have any sort of hardware you can think of...and downloadable CAD files of many of the items they sell.  It's where I buy hardware for all my little hobby projects.  Don't know if they ship outside of North America .

McMaster-Carr is the complete source for your plant with over 595,000 products. 98% of products ordered ship from stock and deliver same...

@ENTERPRISE...further to my post above, here's a modified NZXT Phantom side-cover with a big hole cut where there was none & covered in store-bought window insert mesh (for cooling quad-SLI, back int the day)

mesh1.jpg.c51afe5f045cd67ed8305ec1176d60a8.jpg

...and here is a quick HomeDepot Canada page for mesh as an example; endless choices in synthetic, aluminum, steel etc. in the widow screen insert section...some of it with big hole / spacing, others tightly woven...I am sure UK stores have the same.

Thanks chaps, just to let you know, I actually went ahead and ordered some black steel speaker mesh which should do the job nicely, if not then I will consider the above.

This sort of thing:
