Flow/Temp Sensors?

I was looking at picking up an Aquacomputer High Flow Next or one of their other High Flow products, but seems to be out of stock everywhere. 

 

Anyone have any other recommendations? I've never really used one before, but I wouldn't mind being able to keep track of coolant temp and flow rates.

There is nothing more accurate than aquacomouters offerings. You can join the pre order list on mod my mods. When I did it, I got the flow sensor about a month after I ordered. 

 

There is a barrowch flow/temp/rpm sensor that is decent. I have 2.

Nope, independent. Though I would get a Hubby 7 with it, some motherboard USB headers for some reasons are a pain with it.

Well if I went that D5 Next route, I have an EK Quantum Kinetic TBE 200 (bought from my local Micro Center when I needed something quick) I would use it on. Just trying to figure out if that would work with the mount bracket I have on it. I am intending to mount it on top of the bottom 360 radiator/fan towards the front of the case if that makes sense. It is side mounted right now (my current rig was transplanted out of a smaller case).

I have a D5 Next but I don't use the internal flow meter. To calibrate it you literally have to block flow in your loop (kink hose or install a valve). You DON'T have to do this for their normal flow meters

 

I still use the older Aquacomputer high flow sensor connected to an Aquaero. Even the original 3 pin version like this is an accurate meter. Personally, I'd get on that ModMyMods preorder before I would consider another option.

I second this sentiment Berg. Running one in the office. Bar none, best thing out there. Though it does have a mechanical impellor if that sound bothers you it could be a problem.

I believe so, but don't recall off the top of my head. Looks like the D5 pump goes into a pump top (mines acetal), and then the actual reservoir.

Oh really? Is it loud? That may pose a problem since I aim for silence with my watercooling where possible.

Its not loud, but I can definitely hear it 2nd after the hum of the D5 pump. Ill see if I can snag some audio

Here you go. You might not even be able to hear it. Its a slow ticking sound. It's not offensive, kind of soothing.

No thats my pump. There is a faint ticking sound behind the pump. Thats the flow meter.

Really splitting hairs here. I have my PC on the desk 2ft from my face and don't notice it at all. If I slow my flow WAAYYY down the clicking is a bit more audible, but you really have to be looking for it.

Indeed. Similar setup here about 1 1/2 feet away. I have really acute hearing, so I pick up everything. Still it does not bother me. I would feel like I gave bad advice if I did not disclose everything I know about the product i'm recommending. It may or may not bother him. But I wouldn't know.

Ok, that helps a lot. Thank you both for that.

 

I am similarly very sensitive to PC noises. One of the reasons I watercool is because of how much I cannot stand a jet engine sounding PC when gaming, or fan noises in general. I generally keep my fans around 1200 RPM and my D5 pump around 40-50% for my general day to day use for reference.

 

If that audio was your pump, I heard kind of a tick/click at 0:08 and 0:10, is that what you were referring to? Because otherwise I didn't hear anything else really, so that puts my mind at ease.

I might not have the most sensitive hearing (too many years of shooting guns and other yee haw stuff🤠) but I also can't stand loud PCs. Which is the main reason I do liquid cooling. I like to keep the internal fans under 800RPM. The D5 Next is on a curve but it's usually under 50%. My external rad/pump setup runs a bit faster since it's on the floor around the corner of my desk. 

 

I tried to get another point of reference, but couldn't pick it up even with the D5 Next off and the fans at 360RPM. I usually only notice it for a couple seconds when I first fire up the PC and the flow starts picking up. To drop the flow further I'd have to crawl around on the floor to turn down the vario knob on my external D5.

I think there might be some confusion here. I have the Next flow meter, not pump. Just making sure we are on the same page. I hear you on the pew pew pew though. 8 Years Army.

I was just saying I turned my D5 Next off to try and drop my flowrate enough to make the clicking from the flow meter audible. I don't have the Next flow meter, I have the older Aquacomputer High Flow running off an Aquaero. Being that it's also a physical wheel inside turning just like the newer Next flow meter, they both can produce the same clicking sound.

Are you sure you don't have one of the defective ones from the first batch? The clicking was due to a part being crushed when first put together, otherwise it should be near silent under 1GPM. Mine is dead silent even with my ear pressed against it at 0.56GPM. At 1GPM I do hear it faintly. 

The older model was actually quieter at lower flow rates but had to be vertical. Still it's by far the best one to buy.

 

If you have an Aquero, Quadro/Octo then I'd recommend the older model if you can find one third party if you can't find the new one in stock.
