It was known that the Intel Graphics software division has lagged behind severely versus the team that is designing the actual hardware. The hardware team has had GPUs up & running since the previous year but the software team has yet to release a driver that is fully tuned to unlock Arc's true potential.

Intel Arc A730M GPU's gaming benchmarks have been revealed and the graphics performance is barely faster than an NVIDIA RTX 3050.

Intel thought they could design a totally new architecture without worrying about how that would work on the software side at all, and just make drivers for whatever hardware they came up with. Clearly that's not working out. 

 

I think we may never see these GPUs release at all. It's possible Intel designed a dud in the sense that they won't be able to get the gaming cards working anywhere near well enough to justify releasing them. It may turn out that this first Arc series turns into a beta for Intel that teaches them what not to do for the next gen and sends them back to the drawing board. 

 

Given these cards still feel like they're at least 6 months away at best, but probably won't even be good by then, by the time Intel does get these out its going to be too little too late.

I agree. These are way too little, too late at this stage. Best to just use it to get the software right for the next gen to hopefully be ready for primetime. Intel completely blew their timing and opportunity with this one.

Same thing with the older GMA graphic from intel. It was made by someone else because intel had no skill
