Does flashing Vega 56 to 64 unlock 256 TMUs & 4096 shaders?

Not really sure, maybe @pioneerisloud would know.

I think most were doing it for increased voltage/power limits and to get the clocks of a V64 on the V56. I'm guessing you won't unlock to V64 shader count as they likely were defective / fused off in the binning process that made the chip a 56 vs a 64.

I read a few reports of people unlocking the shaders, but I wouldn't count on it.  You're spot on, its for unlocked memory performance and higher clocks moreso than anything.  With the right BIOS installed on a Vega56 it'll operate dang near identically to a Vega64, regardless of the missing shaders.

It's been forever since I tried BIOS flashing, but from what I'm reading you want to make sure you have Samsung memory, and that you flash the correct BIOS to it.  TechPowerUp will be your best source of information for this honestly.  But yes, its absolutely possible to do, and worth doing.

I think you are right. 64 has Samsung memory and 56 has either Samsung or Hynix.
