Cerberus

Recommended Posts

I had 2 1TB nvme's in raid 0 on my gaming pc, something broke the raid, i tired deleting the raid via bios (where it was set up) but it wouldn't delete. I bought a m.2 to usb to try and fix the drive but I cant get any where in acronis or disk management... the drive shows up as 2TB also.

any ideas (it also cant format)

what happens when you format/try to format?

CMD -> diskpart -> list disk -> select disk # (whatever it is)

CMD -> list volume -> select volume # (whatever the "1862" GB volume is) -> attributes volume clear hidden

then try to format (CMD -> diskpart -> list disk -> select disk # -> clean -> create partition primary -> format fs=ntfs) and then delete the array in the BIOS?

probably because the partition is RAW or WriteProtection is enabled (I assume the former).

Check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Have you tried EaseUS Partition Master ? This program has saved me a few times with drives where others have failed miserably.

Also consider Minitool Partition Manager.

You could try this:

HDDGURU.COM

This freeware HDD Low Level Format utility can erase, Low-Level Format and re-certify a SATA, IDE, SAS, SCSI, SSD hard disk drive. Will also work with any USB and FIREWIRE external drive enclosures as...

I would also try this tool

HDDGURU.COM

This freeware HDD Wipe utility will erase and re-certify a SATA, IDE, SCSI, USB or Firewire hard disk drive. Plus, it supports most flash media, including SSD.

If that still doesn't work then maybe there is something wrong with the drive?

  • 4 weeks later...

I'd avoid using any normal tools on an NVMe drive - download Samsung Magician and use the format tool in there, might need to write down the long code on the drive as the software will ask you to enter this when formatting.

Also make sure you've disabled Intel VMD/RST in the BIOS and set it back to AHCI mode before using any tools.
