A rare piece of technology is currently up for auction on eBay, and it's expected to go for a small fortune. The Voodoo 5 6000 graphics card is a prototype that was never released to the market, making it a valuable artifact for collectors.

This particular prototype is said to be in great condition, as it was personally reworked by 3dfx engineer Jindrich Semenec to operate stably at FSAA 8x mode. The Voodoo 5 6000 was ahead of its time, featuring four VSA-100 processors and 128MB of onboard memory. Despite its impressive specifications, the high production cost and demanding power requirements ultimately caused the launch of the graphics card to be derailed. Unfortunately, 3dfx eventually went bankrupt in 2002, making the Voodoo 5 6000 and other unreleased prototypes all the more valuable.

With only a few days left on the auction, the bidding price has already skyrocketed to $13,200, and it's expected to continue to rise before the final selling price is known. This Voodoo 5 6000 prototype is a true gem for collectors and enthusiasts, and it will be interesting to see what the highest bidder is willing to offer for such a rare piece of technology.

Update: The specific card, was engineered by former 3dfx employee Jindrich Semenec to support 8xFSAA. Bids quickly skyrocketed, reaching an astonishing final sale price of $15,000.
