It is a really nice card. It was definitely held back by "normal person ambient temps" though. I threw the window open to get some crisp freezing air on it and was able to push it quite a bit further without trying too hard. I didn't include those results though, because the average Joe isn't using their PC like Bastiaan 

 

The 6950XT was the most held back by temps. Once I tossed a waterblock on it, it really woke up.

Not often EHW gets to review a graphics card. Nicely done Flux!

 

I especially liked the descriptor of "heckin chonky boy".

 

EDIT: To your question of whether one should go for the 4070 Ti or say a 3090/3090 Ti, I'd say depends on if you are playing at 4k or 1440p. I would feel like I wasted money on the 4070 Ti at 4k given its performance scaling to that resolution is hampered by the 192-bit bus. Plus the argument for 24GB vs 12GB at that resolution. Then again, the performance per watt is such a big improvement over Ampere. 

 

Guess it boils down to what you are trying to get out of it.

It's pretty funny that this "midrange" GPU was physically the largest GPU I have ever used. 

 

Based on the latest steam hardware survey, we're only up to 2.73% of people running 4K. The overwhelming majority are still at 1080p. You can pry my 4K OLED and 3090 from my cold dead fingers, but for most people, the 4070ti is a solid option. I wish you could find new 3090s cheaper to make them a consideration. AMD is much more competitive with prices of last gen cards. Granted the whole GPU market is overpriced still in general.

Oh for sure. I totally agree that 4k is niche, though I imagine larger than what Steam says. 

 

That said, just not happy about $800+ cards being for 1080p and 1440p. But like you said, prices are dumb, and I can't fault AIBs for that. Nvidia sets the bottom.

Great review, bro. I really think Zotac GPUs are under-rated. Pretty much everyone I have known that had one liked it and had good results with it. I really like the aesthetics of their new GPUs. The curvy lines are a nice contrast to the boxey-looking trend that the technology cartel hive mind has chosen to stick to. That GPU performs very similar to an RTX 3090, so it is a good option for gaming that isn't north of $1500.

Yeah at first it was kinda funny looking when they first showed the Zotac 4090's, but the design has grown on me.

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like the design language of the newer Zotac cards when I first saw them online. After seeing the card in person, I became much more fond of it. the cooler and RGB are really nice in person.  I really wish I could have convinced Zotac to let me keep it as it was a really lovely card.
