While I'm not planning to buy a replacement laptop anytime soon, this looks very intriguing. It looks like Framework has already done well with their Laptop 13, so they're already succeeding where others have failed (Alienware Area-51m R1). I might be looking at this 16" Framework in a few years.

 

Along with the recent EU law on user-serviceable batteries, things are beginning to look good again for consumers in the portable electronics space.

They stole so much money from us making thing impossible to repair it payback time now! I love what the EU is doing!

This is a great idea, but couldn't they have changed the design a bit? It's got a 2009 laptop aesthetic going on.

I mean I kinda did this already myself with my Acer not-a-Nitro laptop.  

Solutions like this are exactly what we've been needing.  If I were a laptop guy, I'd be looking at one of these myself just because they're focusing on that "customer serviceability" aspect of it.  As far as the looks go, you could always paint the pieces however you wanted before you assembled.  Could dip them or vinyl wrap them, whatever.  Could probably modify certain aspects much more easily as well on something like this (before assembly).  Like I see nothing but positives out of a solution like this, this is wonderful.

Surface laptop and Apple laptop are still probably the best selling unit around. Straight aluminium or magnesium silver chassis.  HP do have some nice gold and copper that look better but i think they are the only one innovating with maybe Lenovo sometime.
