Great minds think alike. 🙂  Yesterday I went to look at a 2.5RS for a parts car.  No dice on the car since the tranny was shot and the motor had a bunch of top end and bottom end racket.  The local MicroCenter is more than an hour from my house, so I decided stop in and browse around for a bit while I was in the area.

I've had the block and backplate since they were released, and I was just waiting for a reference card at something close to MSRP.

Yep reference 6900XT, and props to PowerColor for the minimal packaging.  Last thing I need is another giant GPU box.

5900x - $369.99  $179 below MSRP

6900xt $1,049.99 $50 over MSRP

It's weird that I paid over $1000 for a GPU that's $50 over MSRP and I feel like I got a good deal.  But it's a hell of a deal for the CPU.

Nice ! With water-cooling on a 6900XT reference style, you might have a lot of fun with 'MPT' (MorePowerTool) to unlock extra performance, w/o going overboard...

...my trusty Antec 1300 HPC Platinum is starting to show some signs of drooling drooping on one EPS - it is almost 10 years old and has seen a hard life (incl 4x SLI HWBot). So I picked up another Seasonic Prime PX1300 today (bought the first one last fall, excellent performance), as well as a 3M/9.84f Club3D HDMI 2.1 cable.

I keep hoping they will release a 1300W TX variant.  I don't need it, but I keep longing for it none the less.  I find the mesh they chose visually striking.

The PX has the same mesh and excellent specs (no TX in that 1300W class)...truth be told, didn't really want to buy a PSU now that there are some new formats coming, but it's needed at the very least for back-up and it was a reasonable US$ 280. Besides, the first PX1300 I bought last fall is performing exceptionally well re. droop etc.
