Man I remember these. Or as I like to call them "how to hurt your thumb".

What's your budget and are you only looking at Nvidia cards? And what would you consider a worthwhile increase in performance?

I'm also looking at the newer AMD cards, I'll probably wait until this fall to pull the trigger when my 2070 will be 4 years old.(purchased in spring of2019) Have no problem switching to AMD. Main reason looking mostly Nvidia is comparing apples to apples is easier 🙂 (DLSS,RT,ect) I may even wait and see what the next offerings from Intel look like because the current ones about equal the 2070. budget about the same as last card.

Yeah I see what you mean. For new cards, $550 might get you a 3060 Ti or maybe a 3070 if you look hard enough but I don't think either represent a good enough performance uplift to be worth it. AMD you might be able to still find a 6800 XT new around that price. If you shop secondhand you might be able to find a 3080 or 6900 XT. RT off, you would get a decent uplift with the 6800 XT or 6900 XT.

Its really hard to spend same money as 4 years ago and get anything of decent performance uplift sadly these days.

So I tried the Z Fold 4, but really didn't like it; mostly because I couldn't attach it properly to a gimbal and shoot videos with it. So I'm returning it for a credit and the new phone is costing me US 460.21:

They actually look like hub nuts; especially since you'd have enough for 4+1 wheels.

Are they hub nuts? For a moment there, I thought they might be fittings and that you might be @Avacado

Lug nuts. I need 9 of them. I could either buy them for £5.99 each or a set of 20 for £24.99.

I think I'm too excited to build it to spend time taking pics and making posts.  Maybe on the second one.  I plan on building one of the smaller Voron mods.  It will be one of these.  Can't decide between the Salad Fork or Tiny-T.....but then the duel extrusion ones are cool too....decisions.....decisions.

  • 2 weeks later...

I need to try out my ultrasonic today as well. Was waiting for a warm day because I hear they are annoying and was planning on just running it outside off an extension cord 🤣

Edit* yea this thing makes a very unpleasant sound. Glad I didn't plop it on the kitchen counter

my N3450/4GB laptop is an absolute dog so trying out LTSC (2021) to see if it makes it bearable. If it's still awful then methinks it's time to go laptop shopping.

tried it out for a few seconds and it seemed marginally better. but then I decided to update and it's been going at it for 420 days.

image.thumb.png.e6dc3602534483bc12122ab4853bb9d8.png

really wish Framework had AMD options, I don't need a dGPU but something better than Intel IGP would be nice.

Its topmost VRM heatsink is like more than an inch tall. This is the clearance to the radiator fan in my midtower case. Current board barely fits.

It finally happened.... @J7SC_Orion is going to be so proud of you! No more AC ductwork to your bench table anymore. Congrats bro!!!

...I seem to recall s.th. about "slippery slope" ...🤔

Congrats, and have fun with that thing (I know you will). Model specs, ie. Watt cooling, lowest temp ?. Also just keep in mind that their transient response can be a bit slow, depending on what is being benched (ie. 4 core vs 16 core). In some such cases, it helps to just 'pre-stress' the PC before the bench you want to run.
