...tried the Pitts Special again...hyper-sensitive on the controls, but there's something about biplanes I find really appealing ?

...that's a tough one...FS 2020 doesn't really support SLI other than 'CFR' (Checkerboard / tile), not the usual AFR...CFR was undocumented by NVidia though it got leaked by 3Dcenter.org...but it only worked for RTX 2K, afaik w/ drivers from November '19 to early summer '20...a few pages back in this thread, I give more detail, including driver# range and NV Inspector setting for CFR

Still, worth at least a try with 2x 1080 Ti / 11 GB. If you can get it working, 2x 1080 Ti should do well at 4K

...updated to an Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero and a 5950X - which has four+ cores of the sixteen that can do 5050 MHz...given FS2020's stressing a handful of select cores, that has made a big difference, especially with low, fast flights  over complex terrain / metro areas. The 3090 is also w-cooled now, and this combo is even more of a joy in FS2020 4K / Ultra  / Dense than the other setups already were. More on the build-log (Project Raven) > here

....speaking of updates, FS2020 had another big (20GB+) patch - no problems with it on my FS2020 systems (and yes, SLI-CFR still works on the other system), and perhaps additional improvements in some visuals.

Hey all.. Every time I see these new screenshots it makes me want to buy this game... just amazing!

I am not sure if my 2080Ti will be enough to drive it @ 4K...  but the more daunting issue I seem to have is wondering how difficult the learning curve would be knowing that I have no clue how to fly any plane.. lol   It seems quite intimidating initially anyway. Are there different modes to add auto-assists?

...you'll love FS2020; it is most rewarding and also easy to learn. On top of that, it has ease of use / flight model controls, and settings for avoiding all damage - even if you drop straight down from 40,000 feet. It also has great tutorials and training flights.

It does get more challenging as you go for more realistic settings, but no matter what, the visuals are stunning. A single 2080 Ti might be a bit taxed at 4K (depending also on your CPU etc, and scene complexity) but should have no trouble with 1440 Ultra settings. Below is a quick flight I did just this morning (2x 2080 Ti SLI-CFR, 4K Ultra) over the town in Europe I grew up in - nostalgia abounds !

IMO, you should reward yourself with FS2020 ? !

outta curiosity, should it have so much purple/violet in it with the lightning strikes? Is that from the card or just your personal settings?

I just watched some more of it on youtube in 4k (on a 1080 monitor) and it still seems to have that same shading I took a screen shot of 1 of the strikes.

...lightning strikes do change the colour mapping, but as already suggested by UltraMega and myself, this is potentially a HDR recording issue. I turned HDR on the other day on my 3090 system, and what looked 'cool' in-game on a big 55 inch IPS HDR looked despicable in screenshots of the same scenes.

...anyway, here are some past and current (=last evening) screenies with some 'purple' tones in it which was actually 'real' given the time of day, year and the location (near where I live). Resolution is 4K ultra, HDR off. I've also got some lightning screenshots as well 'somewhere' - will have to locate those first (over 5k screenies on three machines ?)

Cool, Was just wondering cause U said U were testing the RX6800 and I was like "hell,I hope AMD didn't F@^# up that bad with all the hope people had for these cards."? Glad it's just a recording/live difference.(next time I expect the video to look right regardless of what U have to look @ during actual game play!?)

Yea taking screen shots with HDR is weird for sure.

That video was my first time using the AMD recording software as opposed to the Nvidia version and to be fair, I don't think the Nvidia one even lets you record in HDR with the game, or if it does it looks really washed out. Both AMD and Nvidia seem to be pretty flawed when it comes to recording with HDR as far as I can tell.

...just finished a new build for productivity purposes - has a 6900 XT in it, and I am kind of tempted to try that one out in FS2020, but it would mean getting MSFS2020 server change logging and updates I don't want...

Honestly, I got through the tutorial, started a flight from chicago to columbus. Flew for a bit. Got bored. Flew up to 12,000 and nose dived as fast as I could until it told me my air speed was too high.

...I never did any of the tutorials and 'dived straight in' (dive being the operative term). Flying w/4K Ultra to Mt. Everest in a jet that can do the altitudes and then exploring the various valleys and glaciers is also a ton of fun...

However, many of us FS2020 addicts like to pick a slow plane (my fav is the Icon A5 amphibious) and explore big  photogrammetry metro areas  at night from only a few hundred feet up - or even flying through city 'high-rise canyons' adds extra thrills. The same holds for flying low and slow through mountain valleys, up glaciers etc and landing where possible (grass, or mountain lakes if using the A5).

...I never did any of the tutorials and 'dived straight in' (dive being the operative term).

Yeah, I got the power for it all in 4k max it seems. I didn't notice any problems on the 3080ti, but my monitor only does 60 fps in 4k.
