EHW Delayed Features/Updates

Hey guys, 

 

So I was hoping to have the new site features and updates released to the live site from our development site prior to Christmas, however due to a share point issue at the developers end, this has caused some unfortunate and annoying delays (for both us and the dev). We are hoping to be back working on these up to the new year with a view to released either just prior to new year or sometime in January. It was my hopes to have everything sorted by then as I am excited by getting these features into play for everyone to benefit from. 

 

These features include but not limited to 

 

Rig Creator

Web Content Embed Wizard 

Premium Settings Section

Dark Theme

Custom User Status

Social Icons 

 

It is worth noting that we are also working on the Folding@Home stats section for the site.

 

Fingers crossed there will be no more delays.

oooh, dark theme... looking forward to that one... seems like a small thing, but I tend to work in a dark room and white sites are a bit harsh.. Thanks!

Hello all, 

 

So some very unfortunate news. After increasing amounts of frustration with my Dev team and the lack of communication with myself over the month or so with respect to overall progress and news on deployment of new features etc, I have made the hard choice to let them go. This was especially annoying as a good 6 months+ of actual development is now down the drain and at least £2000 spent out of the budget. Fingers crossed that I can claim this back, or at the very least some  

 

Unknown to me (though not surprised) it looks like the company I was dealing with are possibly going bust. I have been working with them for the last year + and all was swell, but I guess you can never tell when people just up and leave you in the dust without as much as a proper explanation. 

 

So what does this mean ? Well obviously and mostly annoying all development work on the above mentioned features in the original post of this thread are now on hold and will need to be started from scratch. However I have secured a new dev team over the last couple of days. After having a good long chat with them about their background and experience, they look to be a good fit for us. 

 

Due to the time lag with the last dev team have left me with, this will cause a time lag as to when we will start again with the feature plugins. Right now I have to focus on platform updates and fixes before we can move onto features. Right now the priority order is:

 

Phase 1: Site updates/Maintenance and fixes.

Phase 2: Site alterations Misc. 

Phase 3: Feature plugin development. 

 

Apologies for the bad news and the additional wait, but this was out of my control. I will pretend this happened in 2020.

Some possibly good news. Speaking with the current Dev now that contact has been re-established  Obviously I am very keen to see the last 6 months worth of development to come to fruition. It will be a ,"Watch this space" until I have more updates.

Well I am someone who likes to get things done and would have liked the other features here by now.

 

Working with the current Dev. This weekend we did get some important platform updates completed. Due to some data loss (Dev end) there has been some Dev regression but should know more this coming week.

Small update, we have released a few site tweaks and alterations, this includes the new widgets on the forum homepage that allows you to see the latest post updates, news threads and podcasts. We have more updates and alterations coming soon with a couple of feature releases to follow . A full report on released items along with the upcoming road map will be coming soon.

A little more good news, the main framework for many of the new features is now in place on the live site and is being added to incrementally. This is more of a back end change which will enable use to start making features live for all you guys

Looking forward to the marketplace given the rampant scalping and gouging that is taking place these days. I funded the rest of the 100 quid goal. Site looks better every time I visit.

Sweet, I saw something really cool when I purchased the subscription talking about ways users could pay for expert services through paypal. I think that is ingenious. We give away casual expert advice all the time, but it would be cool for people to be able pay for concentrated 1 on 1 attention from members (probably far less that a Geek squad).
