NVIDIA has confirmed to launch its mid-range GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card at 329 USD. The GPU will feature 12GB of GDDR6 memory, which is more than RTX 3060 Ti. This is a fifth installment in the GeForce desktop series.

NVIDIA claims that their new graphics card will have 13 TFLOPs single-precision compute performance with up to 35 TFLOPs in raytracing and up to 101 Tensor-FLOPS in AI-related operations.

The graphics card will be available in late February.

Yep, another card which just does not make sense. Why does a lower end SKU have MORE VRAM than the Ti variant ?

With all these random SKU's it feels like Nvidia are trolling lol.

I literally have no idea what they are thinking. I think they are just fragmenting the market to frustrate you into purchasing the 3090.

I Think they are just very smart.

Amd driver get better like wine people says. Probably because in 2-4 years the vram on nvidia make them lose performance.

Still remember pushing 5760x1080 and 4k with crossfire 7950. While people upgraded to the slow 970 ?

Because in the wake of RDNA2, and repeated criticism of the 10GB 3080 and 8GB 3070 and supposed Ti versions of these cards with double the VRAM in the future, it would have been a marketing blunder to then release this as a 6GB card.

That said, 12GB on this class of card seems dumb all things considered.

Sort of what the deal is now anyway prior to this announcement. 3080 is easily the hardest of the lineup to get. Considering it shares the same 102 die as the 3090, I'm sure Nvidia is plenty happy to keep selling 3090's to gamers seemingly desperate enough to pay for it at $1500+ vs a 3080 at $700+. Prosumers can praise the 3090 all they want but it is clear gamers are buying them up. If gamers stop doing that, I am sure more 3080's would show up and not just for miners. Have 3090's rot on shelves so to speak and you'll see a change. Until then, gamers seem completely willing to pay these high prices for a 3090, so I think Nvidia is perfectly happy to keep making them out of their 102 dies. More money for them. /tinfoil hat
