It is being reported GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is delayed, postponed, or canceled. But the truth is is that neither of those terms is correct because the SKU never had an official ‘on-shelf date’. The graphics card was originally planned to launch ‘2H February’, but around New Year’s time, NVIDIA has changed the ‘on shelf’ date to ‘on hold’. It is neither a cancellation or postponement because technically no exact date was ever communicated to AIBs. In contrast, even the already canceled RTX 3080 20GB had an on-shelf date.

According to our sources, the RTX 3080 Ti has been put on hold because there wouldn’t be sufficient stock at launch. It simply made no sense to launch this graphics card right now to counter Radeon RX 6000 series which are basically nonexistent on the market. It appears that the manufacturer is giving itself more time to decide what to do with this SKU. But at this moment it was not yet canceled.

Given the small performance difference between the 3080 and 3090, hard to see where a 3080Ti would fit in and justify it's existence. 

 

That said it's going to be really word when the 3060 launches with more ram than anything except the 3090. Seems like a 3080 with more ram would fill the gap between the 3080 and 3090 more reasonable than a 3080Ti would.

If i remember well past gen when the TI get released the lower sku price drop. So maybe the 3080 will be cheaper.

 

A white 3080 is currently like 1100-1200$ CAD + Tax when in stock.

The whole 3080 is a dumb SKU in my opinion. Why they decided to gimp what is a high end card with 10Gb VRAM is really beyond me...now they are going to fill the gap with a 3080Ti that is (from what we know) will be a 3090 with 20GB VRAM which undercuts the 3090, what ?. The SKU's that Nvidia are releasing are maddening.

If they release the 3080ti with 20Gb cheaper than a 3090, they can ALWAYS release a 3090 with 32Gb of Ram and call it the Titan32! Say a MSRP* price around $2199.00.... I'm sure there would be people who'd upgrade.
