Corsair Issues Recall for Some HX1200 and HX1200i Power Supplies

Recommended Posts

  Quote

Through a post on the company's forums, Corsair announced a recall on its HX1200 and HX1200i series of power supplies. While the issue isn't life-threatening, i.e., the power supplies won't burst into flames, Corsair still recommends that consumers contact the manufacturer for a replacement unit. The company has also put out the word for retailers to return affected units so none of them can make it to the consumer.

...held my breath for a moment after reading the story - I just used an (older) Corsair 1200 for a new 3090 Strix...great clocker, but does this (on stock bios):

Fortunately, my PSU is not the Corsair HX1200...for a moment there, I though I would have to remove the PSU on a new build, along with all the cabling ?

That reminds me...I have an old unopened AX1200. I'll probably just use that in the next build assuming there's no issue from it having sat in a closet since probably 2012. Got it as a warranty replacement and never opened it as I had bought a new PSU at Micro Center unable to wait.

Yeah, the new build with the Strix is using that, an AX1200 from circa 2013ish...in those days, I did some HWBot w/ quad-sli, so I bought two of the AX1200. They both still work fine, though they didn't run the entire 8 or so years as I had also picked up two Antec HPC 1300s and a BeQuiet 1200 (quad SLi on sub-ambient and CPU on sub-zero = ? power  consumption). The irony is that I haven't bought a new PSU since those days and missed the whole shortages thing...and the loony price rises for those

I hate having hardware you find could be an issue, always a relief when you find out you are good.
