I don't have terrible internet, but it's maxed out DSL on a bonded modem getting 50/10. Pretty impressive for my area; rural america. My other options are old school satellite or cell data. So, when I heard Starlink was targeting my coordinates in the tiny Laurelville, OH area, I was all about it after anubis1127 tipped me off to it.

 

I signed up for the waiting list. I kept waiting for that email, but it actually didn't come. I randomly checked their site, and sure enough, they finally let me in! This is huge for my Wife and I because we are selling our home, my car toy, and then building a home. Every lot we found had even worse options for internet. I have worked from home for 5 years, so it's very important. I also made my mind up to settle for nothing less than we have here, so we had reached a little stalemate on our lot search, but this may be our golden ticket we've needed to make all of the lot options suitable with respect to internet.

 

So, who else has it, or is waiting for it?

I signed my mom up for it, she currently has LongFi type internet which is max 30/1 on a clear day 30ms ping, $150/mo for 1TB.

I got the notification the other day and told her about it, they're probably gonna buy the equipment sometime in May.

This is something I would love to try, though I need to find out where there pricing is, plus I have no idea if they are even in the UK as of yet. The other issue is, what if you do not have a flat roof ? I am just wondering where else a home user with a non flat roof could mount this thing as I know it need a certain degree of line of sight.

Cheers, does not seem to bad. I assumed there would be net interruptions, "4-5 Times a day" for about 10 seconds, to be expected with Sat based internet.
