  1. Hello all. As some of you may know, EHW runs on the IPS software suite (Invision Community). They will soon be releasing IPS 5.0 of the software which is considered a major release, and with that there will come functional changes to the site because of this. I will not outline all of the changes that the new platform will bring (such as standard performance updates etc), but I will list below any items that will directly affect the community. There is no confirmed release date as of yet and once it is known, I will update this topic. This topic is to allow the community to be made aware of the upcoming changes, just so they do not come as a shock. It goes without saying that before EHW rolls out the new software, we will be doing some testing to ensure that we can squash any bugs/unwanted behaviours. EHW is fairly complex so far as what we have running that makes the site what it is, so I expect there to be a couple of hiccups to deal with before we release. Welcome to Invision Community 5. For a general summary for some of the changes coming in the new update, please see the below video. **Please note that features/changes/theme layout as noted in the video may not make it to EHW. It will be decided which changes we look to implement that best fits the community** New Editor With the new platform update, the CKEditor will be leaving us and replaced with "TipTap" After taking a look at the editor, there are some excellent advantages over our current editor and I do not foresee the introduction of this new editor as any form of downgrade so far as capabilities, if anything it will be an upgrade. For anyone interested in learning more about the upcoming Tiptap editor, I invite you to take a look at the below article. Invision Community 5: The all-new editor - Invision Community - Invision Community INVISIONCOMMUNITY.COM Invision Community 5 has a brand new editing experience powered by a lightweight, fast React text editor built for mobile and modern browsers. The venerable CKEditor v4 at the core of our current editor is starting... **Please note that not ALL functions of the new editor will be made available to users depending on any safety/abuse concerns. That assessment will be made at a later date.** More news as it comes! All the best, E
  2. Welcome to EHW, always great to see a new face an convert a lurker to a poster
  3. Welcome to EHW! Glad to have you here, good to see people from the old days of OCN still finding there way over here
  4. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys, I am passing them on
  5. Lmao, that's nuts. I would be tempted, but due to the thickness of its profile, I doubt I would get that to fit in my M.2 position:p
  6. Thanks for the comments guys. Right now I think it is a toss up between the Thermalright HR-10 Or This less well know, but evidently one hell of a contender, the NewHail NH1 It does really well in THIS review, though not surprised as it has 3x direct contact heatpipes.
  7. I have not fully decided on testing parameters just yet but if I were to test multiple scenarios, it would be bare PCB and Aftermarket. Some of them are for sure and some of the less "Crazy" coolers are still sufficient. However until a time where running temps of newer gen drives can be tempered by other means, the need for more extravagant coolers will grow. Just imagine Gen 6 and 7 lol. Thanks for the suggestion, I did see that one but wondered if it would interfere with a cooling fan I have aimed at my RAM. My M.2 slot for Gen 5 speeds is next to my RAM.
  8. Hey guys, So I will soon be undertaking a review of Corsairs new MP700 SE Pro. Source However on this occasion the NVMe in question does not come with a heatsink solution and will be a bare PCB. I could use the motherboard integrated heatsink, but where is the fun in that! So I am in the market of looking for a cooler to be used in the review. After a quick look I found a few contenders, as below. What are your thoughts on the below coolers? Feel free to recommend others Graugear G-M2HS03-F ICY Box Thermalright HR-10 2280 Pro
  9. There is no doubt that well coded software that leverages hardware efficiently can be a massive game changer, no pun intended.
  10. Hey guys. Not having been keeping up to date in the VR game but I have a friend that has the HTC Vive Pro and they wanted to know what the next worthwhile "step up" from that would be? Thanks guys! E
  11. Source Interesting take. I must say that I can at least agree with RDNA 4 comments. I do believe that AMD are sticking to GDDR6 for RDNA 4 which is a clear cost saving measure but could also be seen as a lack of confidence in the GPU line to push for the use of newer technologies. Do I think AMD will leave the gaming segment, no. But I do believe they could just keep their focus on the midrange and leave high end/halo specifically for prosumer/machine learning.
  12. If I catch any pics, I will upload
  13. EHW is lucky to have the crowd that it does Ha, so far as curses go...it ain't half bad.
  14. Yeah, well I know I will be steering away from EK, not just from a concern on quality, but I cannot support a business that has a culture of treating people the way they have. The same goes moving forward for any of our prizing and reviews, we will no longer be making contact with EK for either, unless they have seriously mended their ways and even then I am still unsure about it.
  15. Great coverage as usual. I have to say, EK is a real mess for all sorts of reasons. It really shows that the culture is entirely screwed up.
  16. Bummer....I missed my opportunity to call something the "GOAT"
  17. GSAT is great at stressing RAM and picking up possible errors. Source
  18. Nice! Well if you and @damricwant to port over any of your prior written guides, that is great. When you guys are ready, let me know and I will give you access to the Drafts for our FAQ write ups
  19. Hello all, I just wanted to take a moment to Thank You All for the work you have put into the community, whether this be from a staff or user level. Without your help and continued dedication to the site, we would not be where we are now. We still have some growing to do, no doubt, but I personally enjoy coming on here daily and checking to see what's new, or just following continued discussions. Discussion forums have a hard time of it these days with the growth of social media services but it is my firm opinion that forums/sites are still THE staple of quality information on the internet. We have an excellent group of people here and I feel sometimes I do not thank you all enough and I wanted to assure you that all your efforts on a daily basis is noticed. I am proud of all that you have accomplished here on ExtremeHW and I am certainly looking forward to seeing what the future brings for both our forums and our reviews. As always, spread the word, bring your family and friends here, don't be selfish and keep it all to yourselves I also wanted to throw out an additional thank you to all those who have purchased a premium account, donate to the site and purchase from our merch store. This really helps us with the costs of running the platform, paying for private dev work as well as purchasing any add-ons that enhance the users experience. Thank you! All the best, E
