  1. ...fair enough, but I have had excellent quality experience with various TT items. Also, everybody seems to be copying everybody else (at least these days) in the case world...ie. Coolermaster's new Masterframe 700 is very TT Core P_ish, right down to the marketing, all the while claiming it to be 'new and different' (check TT Core P7...) ...as for Mr. Dremel, when I got the TT Core P5 a few years back, I wanted to find a way to mount 5x thick 360 rads and 4x free-standing D5s w/o showing much of it...the Dremel was invaluable for that. What is more, the TT Core P8 is related to the Core P5 re. some of the dimensions, so I already mostly know where and how to cut ?
  2. ...well thank you - did the Dremel thing to a brand new TT Core P5 as well; nothing is safe around here from my Dremel also: Nice Tesla GPU you got there / are the red lights a reflection, or is there RGB in there ?
  3. ...those Dremel above will come in handy for mods for dual motherboards for this TT Core P8 I just picked up today at a great price locally (never mind the great weight of 40 lbs ? ) ..I already have a TT Core P5 (since late '18) and really like it.
  4. ...they 3090 Aorus Extreme Waterforce models only have 2x 8 pin, while the air-cooled Aorus Extreme 3090 has 3x 8 Pin and higher clocks...what a weird world we live in. Asus is doing the same thing this time around.
  5. ...on .50 caliber: A while back, we went to a shooting range here to sight and dial in a new riflescope for deer hunting ...the range has an uphill segment with marked paper targets at 25 yards, 50 yards, 75 yards...all the way to 300 yards... ...next to our shooting slot, there was a fellow I had noticed before in the parking lot; he had a .50 caliber and a BIG new military scope...but all he ever shot at with his .50 caliber and military scope was the 25 yard target...which would flutter away anyway because of air pressure, no matter by how far he missed... ...now back to your regular programming
  6. I've got 2x Aorus Xtr 2080 Ti Waterforce WB since December '18 - no problems with them at all re. w-cooling quality. I wonder if this 6900 XT version will have more than just 2x 8 pin PCIe...time will tell...
  7. ...and depending how 'good' NVidia's mining hash rate limiter works out (this time around looks to be more serious), used 3080 and 3090 prices could shoot up even more at eBay etc..that is because of running 'updates' planned for 3080s and 3090s that incorporate said 'mining limiter' (Igor's lab had a recent YT vid on it, but only in German)
  8. ...you forgot the 'trained' bears , the raccoon and the Vietnamese pig (the latter not really Canadian, but why not, eh ?). This is an older (true) story; underlying events took place in my home province of British Columbia....
  9. ...believe it or not, I actually thought about C-clamps for real (but dismissed that idea - for now). However, I got some custom Strix backplates this could mount to, though I would prefer direct to back VRAM (and back VRM) mounting with only one layer of 0.5 mm Thermalright pads, if possible
  10. ...had a nice delivery late yesterday ? ...Phanteks G30 Strix block is heavy; about 2.9 lbs just by itself, in part because it has a 6 mm copper coldplate ? . Quality seems very good... I also found a machine shop that could 'mill' the current 'outgoing' block down; if I can figure out how to attach it - it would make a great GDDR6X VRAM cooler for the back
  11. ...I used to have 8 top (Classified/KP) EVGA across different generations (still have most of them) but there were some quality issues (PCB) on a few of them. Be that as it may, the FTW3 3090 is a very nice card, just not sure about the power balance recall/re-bios thing I keep on reading about. Still, FTW3 is one of the top cards. I also love the Strix and oddly enough, here in Canada they were pretty affordable though now, there's little stock of anything. FYI, Caseking has 7 different 3090 models in stock as of today, but not the good stuff like Strix, FTW3 etc. At one point in time, Caseking charged more for a Strix than the KingPin Hybrid 3090 - weird, as Strix OC prices here in Canada were 'reasonable' (air quotes for putting reasonable and 3090 pricing in one sentence) ...as to w-blocks, Watercool / Heatkiller is my fav supplier, but they don't have a Strix block. I did hear good things about the Phanteks G30 Strix block - I guess I'll find out shortly. I do have a Phanteks AM4 cooler already - good stuff, fine quality on the metal etc
  12. I'm picking up the Phanteks block for the Strix later today and I will let you know what I think. Re. the EK backplate (nickel flaking issue and separate from the front block items), RMA got approved....just the running around and plucking a w-cooled system apart over and over again in the course of one week ? What make / model is your Ampere GPU ?
  13. ...thanks - RMA or not, I already ordered a block from Phanteks for the 3090 Strix OC (supposed to arrive tomorrow). ...More than one problem w/ EKWB as I will soon show. Nothing worse than having a hard-to-come-by top end $$$ GPU, only to have sloppy but expensive 'peripherals'
  14. ...project (blue) Raven was coming along nicely re. GPU performance evaluations... ...until I discovered a problem (or three) with EKWB's ""quality"" (more on that in a future post). As I'm waiting for RMA and other vendors' new parts to come in for the GPU cooling, I thought I would try to give the CPU a bit of a workout in the meantime...base numbers (first pic) are promising...then some old-school all-core oc via bios only...more to come on either front...
  15. ...may be one of those 'AWD' clutches based on silicon-metal' liquid that reacts either to heat and/or induced voltage signal. ...or just go old school w/ two of those Top Fuel slip clutches per engine, but in serial, for the torque...
  16. ? 15000ft lbf. x2 would feel nice in my 'SAV'
  17. ...thought you might like this, though you might have trouble closing the bonnet if you drop this into your T6, never mind reduced leg room...also, better hope there won't be a runaway diesel effect ?
  18. ...looking forward to that as well. Also wondering about resizable_BAR on 3090 with this, and SLI-CFR for 2080 Tis (the original Metro Exodus worked with that).
  19. ...you'll love FS2020; it is most rewarding and also easy to learn. On top of that, it has ease of use / flight model controls, and settings for avoiding all damage - even if you drop straight down from 40,000 feet. It also has great tutorials and training flights. It does get more challenging as you go for more realistic settings, but no matter what, the visuals are stunning. A single 2080 Ti might be a bit taxed at 4K (depending also on your CPU etc, and scene complexity) but should have no trouble with 1440 Ultra settings. Below is a quick flight I did just this morning (2x 2080 Ti SLI-CFR, 4K Ultra) over the town in Europe I grew up in - nostalgia abounds ! IMO, you should reward yourself with FS2020 ? !
  20. ...Einstein said more or less: 'the faster you go, the slower you grow old'
