  1. Would have been nice to pickup some of that sweet sweet DDR4 B-die stuff. But alas, was way more than I wanted to spend for RAM. Guess we'll see if I regret it later.
  2. Yeah it just doesn't pay to go the early adopter route for new RAM. It was the same thing when DDR3 and DDR4 came out - though obviously supply issues worse now. But if one has that kinda money to throw around, sure go for it. Personally, I bought into a dead platform coming from my 4790k, but I figured heck, it's a mature platform at this point and I can maybe grab one of those Zen 3D CPUs when they come out or a year or so from now.
  3. I bet a lot of this is platform cost. I think Intel definitely has performance and price competitiveness with 12th gen against Zen 3, but when you take into account the market prior to 12th gen, how many people are already on AM4 platforms that might be compatible with Ryzen 5000 and they just need to upgrade, maybe update a BIOS, etc.? vs having to buy into a totally new platform with a new mobo, possibly new RAM, etc. Secondarily, a lot of mindshare right now with AMD vs Intel built up from the past few years. I don't know, just speculation on my part. Personally glad to see Intel back into the game. Proper competition is great. (don't look at GPUs right now )
  4. What's the battery for? I recently replaced my smartwatch battery myself. $15. Of course they want you to just buy a new smartwatch.
  5. Ah, oh well. Maybe I'll peruse that reddit thread. EDIT: Looks like white XSPC PETG.
  6. Hey, did you paint those white tubes or find hard tubing that was white?
  7. Is that white XTR? How are you liking it? I am still on the fence between that and ol' reliable clear X1.
  8. 100% agree. One of the things I really liked on OCN back in the day was just the volume of quality postings and threads each and every day that one could engage with. Overall, I think EHW is great, just needs more activity.
  9. I mean what even is that. I'll be honest, kinda lost on "NFT's", but then seems like that's everyone, hence the backlash.
  10. Great case. I love mine. I am spoiled rotten for these dual chambered cases now. The O-11 Dynamic gave me a lot of what I had complained about with my previous Corsair Air 540.
  11. Beautiful build man. LGA 775 is where I also got my start. E8500/9800 GT was first full system I ever built. Had done RAM and graphics cards prior, but never a full system.
  12. Man remember when Deus Ex Mankind Divided had that really weird pre-order system? These companies always come up with something boneheaded. Separately, I kind forgot there was going to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
  13. This summarizes my concerns entirely. Really feel like the Windows team misses the mark on this kind of stuff a lot. More clicks then before, that's a great user experience right?
  14. 100% - take most if not all industries that have over time built up to be monopolies or duopolies, when has that ever worked out for the customer/consumer in terms of cost, innovation, value, etc.
  15. Well, pretty sure my current rig can't run it, and given the myriad issues I had when Windows 10 first came out and I upgraded my laptop, I am not an early adopter for any Windows. I'll give it a year or two. Also I'm not thrilled with some of their choices with regards to start menu and especially the taskbar. Maybe by the time I get my new rig up Windows 11 will be better, but for now planning on putting 10 on it.
  16. I think my last AGP card was an ATI x1650 Pro. I think they had a PCIe version, but I remember being on an AGP motherboard at the time.
  17. Speaking of Crucial, I have pretty much exclusively used Crucial SSD's for my 2.5" drives going back to my old 128GB M4. Been nothing but happy with them. Will take a look at the NVME's then too. But will definitely keep using them for any add on 2.5" SATA drives. EDIT: I also see the 970 Evo Plus 2TB I bought last week actually went down in price to $199, so thinking of returning and then rebuying... Not sure what MicroCenter allows on that front.
  18. Will be interesting to see how this plays out long term.
  19. This really helps. Thank you. As I am eliminating having any mechanical drives in this build, the m.2 drives did appeal so that I could then just use 2.5" SSD's for any storage I need past the first two drives. So in a way I am using it for physical space saving, not to mention saving on cable clutter as well.
  20. I figured since I am coming from a SATA 2.5" SSD, anything is an upgrade, so I am happy.
  21. Micro Center happened to have a 2TB 970 Evo Plus on sale for $219, so I grabbed one the other day. It was normally $329. I am contemplating getting a second one as I wanted 2 drives. Its not gen 4, but frankly don't care since it'll be a gaming machine. That said, was looking around and maybe they just made it sound like a deal lol. Might just look for something cheaper for the other drive.
  22. Hadn't checked in in a while, but looking good!
  23. Love this. I get on classical kicks here and there myself.
