  1. So to be fair, I'm sure this is because that person was not monitoring their coolant temps, but I came across something that gave me a bit of pause. I saw this guy's PETG tubing warp where they fit into the fittings which could cause leaking. At what temperature does the coolant need to be for that to happen? Wondering if the guy was just super negligent and hotboxing his room, or if PETG doesn't have a lot of tolerance? Just wondering PETG vs Acrylic...I get PETG is easier to work with, but seeing that makes me a bit nervous about it.
  2. This reminds me of the debacle with Pascal where they kept offering different model/VRAM equipped models like a DDR4 1030 along with the DDR5 1030 but they were both just called a 1030. Not to mention how many different 1060 models in the end? This really chaps my hide when they pull nonsense like this. One guy on that other forum had RMA'd his 3090 and the replacement he got back similarly had a 3080 Ti chip crossed out and the 3090 die name written. Meanwhile it OC'd way worse than the card they originally RMA'd.
  3. Yeah so I think I am down to the P12 or SW3. I might just grab one of each and test them out. I'll need 9 altogether.
  4. Way too cluttered for my day to day, but my god, looks awesome. I like what you did with the place.
  5. It's black. Going for a black/white/gold theme if I can swing it. Fans I am mainly thinking black will be fine. EDIT: Also, I have a box of old fans somewhere, including like 20 GT AP-15's. While those fans are mostly great, I am wondering if I can get quieter these days. They are also pretty old at this point, so unsure if I want to allocate them to a new build as opposed to some project stuff in the future.
  6. Gotcha. Ok then. I am thinking these or the Silent Wing 3's are on the short list.
  7. Thank you, sounds like a solid endorsement! I am not planning on push/pull, it'll be strictly push or pull (haven't quite figured out optimal fan intake/exhaust plan for an O11-D yet. So, sounds like you rally like the P12's ?. Maybe I missed it, do you also run the P12's at 3k RPM?
  8. So looking at fans out there these days and not entirely sure best to get. I have a few options in mind, but these are my priorities: Silence. I typically run my fans around 1000RPM (maybe more, depends on the fan) for noise reasons. If all else is similar, the quieter fan will win for me. To be clear my number one reason for watercooling is for silent computing. Radiator performance - Obviously closely behind #1, performance matters. As best as possible I like to get the best of both worlds of performance and silence. Aesthetic - Not high on the priority list, but not willing to use ugly brown Noctuas either. Cost/Value - Fans are expensive, but you can use them for a long, long time, so this is not high up on my priority list. With that in mind, I have the following options I've found online but need to narrow down what will work best. BeQuiet Silent Wing 3 - From what I can tell in preliminary research, might be best for my silence need, but not entirely sure on performance? Arctic P12 - Obvious choice from a cost/value perspective that seems to have good performance, but I've read a lot of people don't like the sound signature, so that is a concern for me since I am very sensitive to it. Lian Li Unifan SL120 - To be clear, I don't want RGB and would not use it, but I do like the idea of being able to daisy chain 3 fans together without cable clutter. Not sure it's worth the cost though, and haven't seen any good performance comparisons for these fans. Noctua NF-P12 Redux - Don't really know anything about these, just noticed they weren't brown. What else should I be looking at?
  9. Concur. How long has the block been used for? Looking really good to me.
  10. The only thing I've won the privilege of buying in that shuffle was a 5600X (which I got), and later a 5800X (which I passed on). Until the past couple weeks, have religiously signed up for GPUs and have won exactly squat. Ended up getting a Zotac 3070 because I lucked out on a Discord stock alert. Definitely not my first choice though. I wanted an ASUS TUF 3080, but Frankly 3080's MSRP are like $1k now, and rarer than the last steak I ate.
  11. Decided to play some Subnautica again. Life's been stressful lately and it helps me relax as does Cities Skylines. Still playing some Dying Light too as I just need to mindlessly slaughter zombies sometimes. It's linear, but I enjoyed Alan Wake you have on that list schuck. Can also +1 for Civ VI and Cities Skylines.
  12. Or a quick and dirty sleeve job. Have done that with a few fans and pumps.
  13. Wanted to buy some m.2 drives today (was thinking of two Sabrent Rocket 2TB drives), but work has royally screwed up yesterday's paycheck so guess I'll try again on the 15th.
  14. Mine currently. All the cables are shoved behind the bar.
  15. I love these old ATI cards. Looked so cool back then.
  16. That's an interesting concept but I wonder how often I'd actually like to change switch types to make this worth $270.
  17. Wouldn't a 670 be better than even a pair of 5770's? To be clear, not talking about a 5700 XT. ? These 5770's have been in my parts closet since 2012. ? (But tested recently and work).
  18. Interested in any HD 5770's? I realize mid-range at the time, but I have a couple.
  19. Oh I don't blame them either. From a business standpoint and supply/demand it makes sense. Scalper though will just increase as well accordingly. That doesn't really get fixed at all unless supply also gets better where you can actually buy it from the manufacturers or other retail at MSRP.
  20. Yeah wish they had let us switch to SSD's when I was doing Desktop back in the day. So many tickets were "I dropped my laptop" and of course the hard drive got damaged. Its why I never understood the Thinkpad love. I saw people drop them 2 inches and the hard drive was messed up. With the limited tools they gave us, data recovery was a crap chute. If I couldn't get the laptop to boot up into Windows but could get the drive to read with my SATA to USB dongle then I was often able to just copy files to a new drive because of course nobody backed up to the NAS and they hadn't created any automatic backups tasks either. Sigh. If drive was still toast then it was done and they learned a valuable lesson in backing up. If they were high up enough then they could pay for a data recovery place to rebuild the drive... Oh and Bitlocker was always a ton of fun dealing with when we had to swap drives too.
