  1. Thanks! The Drop Halo Clears (and Trues, for that matter) are indeed tactile like MX clears, and I should do a video since the key switches themselves sound pretty good. However, I definitely get a resonating pinging noise in my keyboard when I type, and that completely ruins the sound lol. I definitely want to address it, but don't know off the top of my head how I should go about doing so. That's interesting, I suppose that's good in the sense that taking off a keycap won't rip out the switch with it (had that happen a few times) but it doesn't seem like it should be that difficult. Something to keep in mind then.
  2. Been absent over the holidays, but I'm back in the swing of things now. All the new boards look great guys! I'm now also interested in a Mini Cat to gift haha. The Yunzii numpad pairs quite nicely @neurotix, I'll consider that as well. Everyone's new boards have been added to the list. Additionally, I got myself a new board a couple months ago that I seem to have neglected to post about here. It's my new daily driver, a GK96X with the Halo Clears. Got some pudding caps for it, was a bit tricky to find a set that fit the layout but I got one that works with the correct profiles and everything. Big downside about favoring the 96%/1800 layout so much. Looks pretty tame but it's a nice balance for me between heavy weight, not being obnoxiously loud, and looking nice but not over the top, so it fits with the rest of my setup fairly well. Also temporarily had the original set from my Tab90 on there until the pudding set showed up.
  3. Gotcha, I totally brainfarted when I read the folding.extremehardware.net link; that works. HYPE! That was quick, thanks to all involved.
  4. Personally when I saw the "See All Stats" button, my first thought was that it'd go to this page: ExtremeHW Team Summary - Folding@Home Stats - EXTREME Overclocking FOLDING.EXTREMEOVERCLOCKING.COM F@H stats team summary for ExtremeHW. Help Folding at Home fight Coronavirus, further medical research, and prevent diseases with... Then you could have a button that says something "Join the Team" or "Join the Discussion" or something under it that links to the forum, or a link advertising the current or upcoming monthly 48 hour competition. Also, don't think the 3 day champion would change to much so I'm not sure how interesting it would be, but it's not hurting anything at all if others see value in it.
  5. LED wrist rest is interesting. I wonder if that will catch on as a trend.
  6. I started playing Runescape again and now I'm hooked. Again. Send help.
  7. Yeah I'm also going to keep folding on and off lol, PC is working very well as a space heater. Congrats @Fluxmaven!
  8. Folding on the 2080 Ti in my bedroom currently and I gotta say all that heat isn't so bad, we indeed are at that time of year already.
  9. Gotcha, that's fair. On my most recent board, a GK96X, with Holy Pandas, I actually am in the opposite boat with a great sounding spacebar but some annoying pinging and echoing on pretty much all of the other keys. Probably the worst I've had, so I'm considering actually doing something about it for once lmao.
  10. One positive thing about this card though: I was really pleasantly surprised about the thermal performance.
  11. Nice, thanks for the comparison. I forgot how clicky MX and MX clones really sound. I definitely prefer the other two as a result, probably moreso the jades, but the spacebar has an odd pingy-ness that I don't quite like.
  12. Oh wow, haven't seen this thread before. I very occasionally play BeamMP with a couple friends; if I boot it up again sometime I'll be sure to check one of these servers out. Thanks for maintaining and updating them!
  13. Ah man, I forgot they're in Lexington! My girlfriend lives there and I just visited her recently, but I don't think I will again before she moves in a month or so. Oops. That'd be much appreciated! I have a couple hotswappable boards for just such a thing. Box whites just might be in my future then.
  14. Buckling springs are still at the top of my list of what I'd like to try. Been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Unicomp for years.
  15. Interesting, thanks for all of the info. I typically alternate between tactile and clicky switches to keep things fresh for myself, and my favorite of the clickys is definitely the box navy. Looks like you can still buy them on Drop: Kailh x NovelKeys Box MX Mechanical Switches | 2.6K+ Sold | Drop DROP.COM Drop exclusive price and reviews: Kailh x NovelKeys Box MX Mechanical Switches | 2.6K+ Sold | Mechanical switches offer a physical typing... I tend to prefer heavier switches (perhaps obvious by now) but I'm curious about the box whites now, maybe I'll pick up a set sometime. Would be a very interesting change of pace.
  16. Looks nice! Pic added to the spreadsheet. How do you like the Kailh box whites? How do they compare to similar MX switches or box jades/navies, if you've used any of those?
  17. To answer your question, what board size are you thinking about? I've had a TKL-sized and a fullsize Grifiti Fat wrist rest that I've alternated between, depending on the main board I'm using, for probably the better part of 8 years, and they've held up really well. The top layer of fabric has peeled back very slightly on both on the corner under my left hand, but otherwise they're in great condition. No sagging or indentations, and they stand up to some minor spills as well. That'd give you a lot of flexibility as far as not having to look for keyboards that come with a wrist rest.
  18. Thanks for the detailed post! I added your two main boards, and I'm curious about what your secondary board looks like. The GMMK turned out well in white! Yeah I have a GMMK TKL and it's been nice, but after a year or two the B key and maybe one or two others have started double-inputting. Not sure if it's the switch or the board, I haven't messed with it to figure it out, but it's not my daily board anymore so I'm not as motivated lol.
  19. Yeah, I got into PC building during the HD 7000 series era, so I dreamed about the Lightning cards a bit. I remember seeing a few Lightning builds back on OCN and they were really well done.
  20. Indeed there is (though it's been quiet for a few years): I don't think there's much that wouldn't fit on this forum as long as there's a thread that makes it relevant and it's in the right section. And your previous post reminds me, I gotta update the mech boards thread with my most recent board lol.
  21. Yeah EVGA was my go-to as well for my past few cards. I wondered for a little bit what I'd get instead, but I think I'm going to avoid the problem altogether and just go AMD lol, Sapphire has been my go-to there. Otherwise I think I was going to leave it up to aesthetics, nobody else really stands out like EVGA did.
  22. Dang, I'd missed this thread entirely. @Avacado glad to hear that everything seems to have gone fairly well. Best wishes for the rest of the recovery process!
  23. Shame we're not getting this card. Not that it's the most interesting thing about it, but imo this is the best looking triple fan cooler from EVGA. So it goes.
  24. I'm IN as CptAsian! I may try running GPUs outside of my 24/7 rig again, but even when idling my PC has been heating up my room in my (relatively) new apartment quite a bit. May be a one-time thing, haha.
