  1. A shame, well for Windows 7, however I understand STEAMs stance.
  2. So I think so far as CO tuning I have settled with the below. Obviously some weaker cores than others, and oddly Core 9 was obviously always on the limit. At stock values I was getting errors from that core, so once I have it a Positive value, it was nice and stable. After reading on the internet, looks like this is not un-heard of. This finishes my CO journey, certainly time consuming. I could likely improve this by a mV here and there but honestly, it is not worth the additional time expenditure and the gain would be negligible. After I have finished messing with my GPU, I may look into the mystical eCLK
  3. Unfortunately, yes. People are not voting with their wallets. However from the consumer side, or should I say professional/prosumer side Nvidia has a good choke hold with their penetration into hardware acceleration whether it be CUDA or other related Nvidia technology. As a CAD and 3D Scanning user, I cannot/will not touch AMD. From prior and recent experience, Solidworks performs much better on Nvidia GPU's and the reliability is far better. Not saying you simply cannot use AMD GPU's with Solidworks, you can and I have, but the experience with an Nvidia GPU is superior. Furthermore our 3D Scanner at work will not work on AMD GPU hardware PERIOD, it is literally designed for Nvidia only and after speaking with the makers, they told me they could not get reliable performance from AMD hardware. So some users such as myself have no choice to go Nvidia, regardless of the price . This is why I would love Intel...or whoever to really disrupt the GPU market and give us another contender. That or AMD really pulls itself together in the prosumer/professional segment and gives us reliable competition so far as hardware acceleration/API's as Nvidia does. So, some people certainly have the luxury of voting out of Nvidia, but some of us don't
  4. Happy New Year guys. I hope you all have an excellent 2024 and the same to your families
  5. With you on that, the 5090 looks like a powerhouse, which will also cost powerhouse prices and I think many people will want to not opt for the top end tier because of that. However as usual, Nvidia are forcing people to heavily consider the 5090 if they proceed with gimping the 5080 with a 192-bit bus. However this is nothing new from Nvidia to be perfectly honest. Considering the price the 5080 will end up being....a 192-bit bus will be an impossible pill to swallow. Back when I got my 3090, I went that route as I found the lack of VRAM on the other lower tier line-up concerning, so I went for the 3090 and that was a large determining factor (4K and productivity work etc), thought I did not NEED 24GB, I would likely have been fine at 16GB. So Nvidia's game plan no doubt works. Due to life being more expensive these days, something like a 5080/5090 would likely be out of reach anyway.
  6. Hey bud, That system will be more than fine for what you are trying to achieve, and definitely overkill for a simple Firewall/DHCP deployment. You are good You should be able to setup a VLAN on your OPNSense box but if you want to do it on a switch, yes you will need a managed switch for that
  7. Hey bud, what are the system specs ? What is your broadband rated at from the ISP ? Also will you use VPN from the OPNSense box ? Will you be running IDS ? (Internet Security AV etc) These are all the sort of considerations to have when speccing a device for firewall usage ?
  8. Yeah the jump to DDR5 and AMD 7K was as simple as the previous generations. Should be as easy as configuring PBO and enabling EXPO and off you go. If you want to take it further, that's when you have to commit a considerable amount of time.
  9. Happy Boxing Day! Another day for eating too much I reckon.
  10. Ha yeah exactly that, Google will still be tracking anything and everything they want, they are just putting a choke hold on everyone else and marketing it as them being the good guy. It is kind of funny to think that they can get away with this being a "feature" and not have I.T community see straight through them lol.
  11. Yeah using SMUdebug for per core CO. I knew it would be a chore doing it core by core, but it is the best way ultimately.
  12. As a small update with me, I have been slowly getting my CO sorted. I thought I had it, but I was still seeing some instability when playing games. So I have started more extensive testing. Running CoreCycler and OCCT Linpack at the the same time is exposing offending cores more quickly, I am getting far less errors now so I am getting there slowly. My chip is not a Golden sample BUT it is good to get something extra out of it. Oddly enough, I have had to add a positive offset to one of my cores to stop it from complaining lol. After doing some reading, that is not too uncommon. Once CO is done, I may look into playing with the eclk to see what extra I can get out of it.
  13. Thanks for sharing that with us @UltraMega. I had completely forgotten these machines even existed, though to be fair the last time I have been to an arcade was....well a long time ago. Love the fact you were able to maintain the original components but I think ultimately so long as the machine works it does not matter too much. Most people want their loved items to function, and will not mind too much how that is achieved. The machine looks awesome though, makes me want to play!
  14. Hello all, We are nearing the holiday period and I wanted to take a moment to wish you all the very best and I hope you all enjoy whatever it is you will be getting up to this year. Most of all, stay safe. As per usual, I imagine I will be doing some relaxing while eating far too much and enjoying a little tipple here and there. A big thank you to all our members for being a part of the community whether it be frequent flyers, lurkers or those joining for our competitions, it is great to have your participation. A huge thanks to all our members of position on the site that help with the running of EHW one way or another, your help and continued dedication is highly appreciated and continues to make the community more enjoyable for all. As always, a big thanks to all those who donate towards the site whether it be a donation or purchasing a premium account, this is a HUGE help towards the running costs and general upkeep of the site. All donations received go directly into the site pot and will always be put into the site and the membership in one form or another. We are still working on the site becoming a self sustaining entity, which includes our move towards Google ads as well as the expansion of the site merchandise which we will progress with further as time goes by. In early 2024 I hope to launch some of the new site merch as discussed HERE. I was hoping to have this done late 2023 but this has not been possible, sorry for the delay on this but more news on this as soon as I have it. 2024 will also see the move towards seeking site sponsorships, but this is something that will be developed in 2024 as this is very much theoretical at this point. Finally, I look forward to seeing you all during the holiday period and in the new year. Lets keep our fingers crossed for an excellent 2024 for us all. All the best, E
  15. Big or small, they are still tracking you. So in that regards, it makes no difference. In all honesty the only thing customers can use as deciding factors are: 1. Price 2. Customer Service Reviews 3. Added Extras (Static IP ETC) Anything beyond that, ISP's are almost identical in their practices.
  16. The degradation you describe in length of time of stability whether stock or overclocked sounds like the motherboard to me. I had a quick read through and perhaps I missed it but did you have any other RAM to swap out ? Have you ran Memtestx86 on the RAM in the possibly faulty motherboard? Interested to see if it shows any issues. I doubt its the Nvme but you could run some bench tests outside of the Windows environment and excluding your Nvme to see if the system remains stable. Have you heard of Medicat ? Medicat USB | Computer Diagnostic and Recovery Toolkit MEDICATUSB.COM A toolkit that helps compile a selection of the latest computer diagnostic and recovery tools. I would look it over as it has a great set of tools.
  17. While in the PC world, it is not the latest hardware. If this turns out to be true, the PS5 Pro will be a really powerful refresh. I do not remember a simple refresh being so far ahead from the original SKU.
