  4. That is interesting but makes good sense. I remember wondering why MS had not jumped on it, especially when Amazon started to pull out all the stops. MS have made good strides but Amazon for me is the better platform so far as server services and infrastructure. From what I understand you are renting cloud computing power, I am not sure as to the real use case for this unless you are running a non windows machine but need access to one...or you are running a low end rig and can better take advantage of the cloud computing services. Either way it's a rental.
  5. Yeah, I have had to watch out which GPU I go for based on its length as my radiator mounted Res does cutdown the space a little. Yeah it's all marketing but it has been particularly lame this time round.
  6. No problems bud. Yeah leaving it a while between builds, which is good to be honest, it does leave you playing catch-up.
  7. Hmmm what is DAC ? Would I not still need an adapter like SFP in the switch to accept these ? Sorry a little noob in some of the Networking gear,
  8. Great suggestions. I have to admit with time and space (Oh look a continuum) being limited here, I would likely just go for the already done solution which would be a normal switch as opposed to a rig build made into a switch, though I certainly see the merit in going the rig way. I will take a look at the Mikrotik, I think I possibly looked at that one before. I think this one (as you suggested): https://mikrotik.com/product/crs305_1g_4s_in + A few of these : https://mikrotik.com/product/Splus85DLC03D Will do the trick. I was surprised that the SFP+ Modules were only $59, I expected those to be more actually.
  9. I believe a lot of people are taking what they can get, especially if they can keep it to MSRP. So many people sick of waiting for what may be. The situation stinks and Nvidia's really off SKU fragmentation approach does not help either and further confuses they hell out of people. For me the Ampere series makes absolutely no sense. for any of the SKU's when it comes to the VRAM counts being used, they either gimp you (3060Ti/3080) or they go mental (3090). Especially the 3060 series. The Ti variant has always been the unicorn of the bunch, however for some reason Nvidia chose to give the 3060Ti only 8GB VRAM, yet its smaller non Ti brother the 3060 gets 12 Gb VRAM ? What is that ? I miss the days when the Ti meant you go the best of both worlds with respect to CUDA cores and VRAM. This generation the Ti means nothing.
  10. Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 Flashback Enabled as well as update without CPU/RAM/GPU installed - Solid solution . Also has a handy Clear CMOS 2.5G Lan (Intel) Wifi 6 Nice onboard DAC for Audio. 14 Phase Power Delivery (Achieved by doubling) MSI X570 Unify Flashback Enabled (Though from glance not clear if this is just a BIOS recovery feature or if it also supports BIOS update without CPU/RAM/GPU installed). Possibly refer to the manual to double check. 2.5G Lan (Realtek) Wifi 6 Weak Realtek Audio 14 Phase Power Delivery (Achieved by doubling) ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Flashback Enabled (Though from glance not clear if this is just a BIOS recovery feature or if it also supports BIOS update without CPU/RAM/GPU installed). Possibly refer to the manual to double check. 2.5G Lan (Realtek) Wifi 6 Nice onboard DAC for Audio. 8 Phase Power Delivery (No doubling) (Possibly better transient response) These are only some key features, all three of them are relatively the same so far as other I/0, NVMe and RAM Support (Speed). Obviously it depends on your overall requirements. If it were me I would likely go with the Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 as an overall all rounder motherboard, at a glance. Furthermore I have liked the Gigabyte BIOS stability. Worth mentioning that the Asus BIOS is usually MUCH more granular when it comes to opening up virtually all the tweakable options that other vendors sometimes lock out. MSI I have found to be on par with Gigabyte. In reality the proof will be in the in-depth reviews. I would do some review shopping to help you choose the best option.
  11. I feel your pain. I have a small office for all my gear, so the heat does get pumped out. I installed an extraction fan to pull cool air from outside through the room and out into our landing however during summer it will likely not suffice and the AC unit will be deployed. It is only a portable one, though it is wicked...not sure if it will cope haha. Oh and yes we have a rather large competition coming up this month, to be announced very soon. Hint hint, we have hardware sponsors
  12. Hello all, As we work with CoolerMaster on a regular basis they have shared some new information with me regarding their new line of CPU coolers, the MasterAir Stealth Series. Please see information below as well as the attached PDF's for your reference. Press Release - MA610P ARGB.pdf Press Release - Stealth Series.pdf
  13. I hate having hardware you find could be an issue, always a relief when you find out you are good.
  14. Will take a look at them tomorrow, though personally not had issues with Reaktek ethernet for a while though of course mileage can vary on chipset used. I will take a look tomorrow at the boards but be sure to try to get bios flashback functionality and depending on your use case might be nice to get 10Gbe LAN (Possible future proofing? , Good for home networking and NAS).
  15. That is understandable, sometimes things just don't work out, some add in components just do not play well with some motherboards. Did you get this card due to lack of Data ports or for more convenient placement of the SSD drives ?
  16. Looks like it installed the SATA controller OK. When you put the SSD back on the adapter card, when it boots does it cycle to a windows repair and keep rebooting ? Do you have a spare SSD that you could attempt to do a test of install windows on via this adapter card as a test to see if a fresh install works ? If it does then Windows is fine with the controller card and this tells us that your current windows install still needs looking at. If it does not then we need to look at drivers again. You may find that when installing windows fresh via the adapter card you may need drivers for it to see the drives, but I am thinking it should just see the SSD drives as normal.
  17. So likely your best option is to go into Control Panel > Device Manager and locate the Sedna device, it should be under Host Controllers, however if in doubt it will likely be flagged on the list with a yellow exclamation mark (as it has not go the driver installed yet). After finding the device, go back to the Disk containing the drivers files and extract these to a folder on your desktop so they are ready for use. After extracting the files go to the device manager and find the device, right click on it and a new window will pop up, select "Update Driver". The driver install wizard will start, when prompted select "Browse my computer for files". At this step you want to click browse and locate the folder on your desktop with the driver files, it may be helpful to choose the sub folder that containing the drivers for your specific device. Usually the folders will be named as per the device name so you can find the folder containing drivers for your device specifically. Once you have selected the right folder click "OK", now click "Next" and windows will look in the folder you pointed it to for the drivers for the device and with any luck should install it (assuming the device drivers are compatible with your Windows variant)
  18. I have looked at the product page on Sedna, I could not locate a support page with respects to taking a look at the type of drivers that come with the adapter card as I note that as part of the package contents that it comes with a Driver Disk ? I would not imagine the adapter card requires drivers as it is a fairly standard adapter card, however you may want to consider mounting the SSD with window on in the system via the motherboard, installing the drivers on the provided disk, then try the SSD again on the adapter card to see if it will boot. I say this as the cycle of windows trying to do system repairs may be due to missing drivers on the OS, meaning it cannot boot correctly.
  19. That seems like a fairly similar device to the one I am getting to be honest, will be interesting. Either way they are impressive solutions for maximum throughput, much of which the majority of users would never need, or notice when doing your big standard tasks, aside from in system file transfers however, those will be super hot.
  20. Have you tried with UEFI enabled/disabled in the BIOS ? Do the Kingston Drives show in the BIOS or does it instead show the details of the Sedna add in card.
