tweaktown RTX 4090 latest: October launch, $1500+
ENTERPRISE replied to bonami2's topic in Rumour Mill
That pricing was a dead given to be honest. The bit that phases me is releasing it in two different SKU's so far as its power envelope. I get it from AIB but why from what I would still call a "Stock" level config would you have a founders edition segmented into two different lines, 450W & 600W+. I know someone will argue "What about those with weaker PSU's", well I would argue that if you are getting a top shelf card like that, you likely have a decent PSU, or you should consider getting one. -
That is True, I think BMW drivers have the same ethos lol. Yup, cars for a good while now have a massive crumple zone at the front, which I am glad for. Much rather the car was written off than my legs/life. I would hate to have a head on with ye olde cars. Can you imagine the forces applied to your body. No thanks.

Hello all, I am still very much a beginner when it comes to TrueNas and it has taken me a while to get to grips with it. However along my journey I have picked up some useful information which I will pop in here. I will continue to add to it as I attain new knowledge! Moving Datasets You may come across a situation where you would like to move a dataset from one pool to another. In my situation I needed to move a Virtual Machine disk. To move a file from one storage pool to another, use the following in Shell: Where the red highlighted sections highlighted indicated the file path to the file you wish to move (Pool/Dataset/File), and the blue highlighted indicates the file path you would like to move the file to. Note the commands in shell are case sensitive, make sure you enter in the file paths exactly as they are. Delete All Pool Snapshots Depending on how many storage pools you have set up Snapshots for, the number of snapshots can quickly build overtime and hurt performance. The threshold at the moment is 10,000 snapshots before you may start to see performance degradation. TrueNas will generally prune old snapshots automatically depending on the criteria you have set for how long each snapshot should be kept, but if you ever run into trouble there is a quick way to solve the build up. To remove all snapshots for any given storage pool enter the following command in shell: Where text in red represents the pool name. Error When Upgrading The Plex App By default, when you install Plex on your TrueNas Scale, it will set the "Advertise IP" to the IP of your TrueNas server. However this has been known to cause issues. If you you have problems upgrading your Plex app, go into the app settings and under "Advertise IP" change the default IP entry, for example 192.168.1.11 and change it to: If done correctly, you should have the below. Useful Utilities -Truetool At the time of writing this, TrueNas Scale is still in its infancy, as such it is missing some functionality. A tool that you can install gives you some extended capabilities for managing your TrueNas Server. You can read about Truetool and its capabilities here : GitHub - truecharts/truetool: A TrueCharts automatic and bulk update utility GITHUB.COM A TrueCharts automatic and bulk update utility. Contribute to truecharts/truetool development by creating an account on GitHub. Thanks, E

I have been in an accident and a near miss. The actual accident was 90% my fault and 10% the other driver. I was making a turn onto a slip road, I looked both ways, at least I thought I had and as I was turning, an oncoming car went into the side of my. They were doing 40Mph in a 30 zone, hence they are note blameless. I am was the silver car, the blue car was the car that hit me and the red van was an innocent by stander, though they luckily only had bumper damage. My near miss can be seen below. Ignore the first video, was a buggered upload. Near Crash.MP4 Near-Crash.mp4

Seems like a good deal to me bud. Nice catch! You should be able to shift those at a profit.

Ahh yes. That will be the reason. Good shout. Im also fairly new to TrueNas. I was using TrueNas Core but it lacked expansion via other apps which you can get on TrueNas Scale due to the fact it runs on Linux, vs FreeBSD. Fortunately you can do an in place upgrade from Core to Scale, so it certainly doesn't mean you have to start from scratch. Though you will lose any created Jails as they cannot be converted, but at the time I only had a Plex jail, so no huge time to re-create. On my journey I have been keeping notes and guides on how to do certain things as some things you will do once and not touch for ages, meaning you can forget how to do it lol. Its true what they say, use it or lose it. I may create a Topic and share some useful tips I have come across so far.

techspot Intel Arc GPUs off to a very bad start
ENTERPRISE replied to UltraMega's topic in Hardware News
For these exact reasons. The first gen was NEVER going to be particularly competitive, even at entry level. It is going to take a while for drivers to mature and be better adopted by devs. Anyone who was thinking Intel was going to bring any hurt, is going to be disappointed. I will revisit Intel at 3rd/4th gen as I reckon we will see performance uptick by that time. -
How does the data recovery depend on the NIC used ? Never heard of that sort of dependency before .
-
A heart attack? Im running the Intel X540-T2, cheap 10gbe NIC. Do I need 10gbe ? Nope....but I can, so I will. This is the ethos of an enthusiast lol.
-
What I have learned with pfsense and TrueNas when it comes to NIC's...Intel Intel and more Intel. Best support coverage and much of the time they "just work".
-
So you have imported the Pools, are the SMB shares still correctly setup in TrueNas ? When you say you cannot access the shares, what issues are you having?

Rig Creator - How to Re-order multiple rigs?
ENTERPRISE replied to Sir Beregond's topic in Site Suggestions
Good question. Im not at my desktop for the next few days so cannot check. Let me speak with the dev. -
Ahh yes, the infamous ISP. I have had a fair share of run in with these guys. I wont bore you with all of them, but one that still tickles me to this day was when I was on ADSL Broadband. I had issues with disconnections to the exchange and rubbish speeds, as these connections rely on copper phonelines I always run the listen check. I plugged in my old school landline phone to listen for line noise/crackles. Low and behold, it was a very noisy line. I called the ISP to report the issue, of course I have to run through all the diagnostics with them while they are on the line, even though I have already done as such...but I understand they have to do this. They run a line test and call me back. However they tell me my line is fine and no faults detected. I explained to them that they either tested the wrong line or there is something funky with their diagnostics as I can HEAR the issues on the line. All in all it took a while to convince them to send out an engineer. I actually had to take a recording of the noisy line and play it back to them to make them believe me. My question as always was, why would I be spending my time calling them if I was not experiencing problems lol. Ultimately the engineer came out, checked the local exchange and low and behold an engineer who had visited recently to make a change for another customer had semi knocked out my connection in the exchange. However this story is a very common one this is probably the Nth time I have had this issue, or I have helped a relative/friend with the same issue.

Hello all, This is just an update to mention a couple of items. Furthermore, apologies for the extended downtime recently. We were running into some hideous issues on the backend of the site, which was also causing a little havoc on the front end from time to time. As it happens, it was the migration to the new server which bought some of these underlying issues to light. I had two experienced guys working on the problem as some of it was rather elusive. Our server admin Mr @EmXaN and Mr @A Zayed did a wonderful job in squashing the issues. I did very little other than test, so big thanks to these gentlemen. I also want to send out my gratitude to all those who have Subscribed or Donated towards the site. This helps towards the continued running and development of the site. We are in a better situation that we were around a month or so a go, which is great news. So a big thanks to all of you! So, moving on to the points......... 1. With the successful rollout of the User Award systems. I have now included the User Awards and a description for each in out Site Guide & Features topic. This will be updated as new badged are created. 2. I have been made aware recently that some have had issues leaving members sales feedback when completing a purchase in the classifieds section. After investigating further, there was a configuration error causing problems. If you have completed any transactions through the classifieds section, please consider going back and leaving feedback, which you can do here : https://forums.extremehw.net/feedback/ If there are any further issues, please let me know! 3. For a long while the Rig Creator had an issue whereby when you loaded into a thread, it would throw you to a rig page. This was not a bug as such with Rig Creator, but was part of a larger issue with the Ajax calls taking too long due to a bug elsewhere on the site. Even though we have fixed the culprit, we also took the opportunity to alter the Rig Creator plugin to use a different system, so that it was not dependent on Ajax. This was with a view to preventing future issues if another plugin etc caused issues with the Ajax system. Long and short of it, these issues should be gone. That is it from me for now. All the best, E

wccftech Seagate 30 TB+ HAMR HDDs To Ship By Mid 2023
ENTERPRISE replied to bonami2's topic in Hardware News
On the up and up with HDD sizes. When I recently re-did my storage, I was pleasantly surprised by the costs. Yes still a few quid BUT the amount of storage per £ you can get these days is great. For HDD's that is. However flash storage is also becoming more affordable in increasing sizes. -
My pleasure:) You guys also do an awesome job supporting the community in many ways.

It is indeed back better than ever. Lots of diagnostics and backend improvements. The downtime is always a pain but this was necessary to fix a few bits and pieces reliably. Thanks all for your patience.
