  1. Source Like a dog with a bone. They really do not want the OS running on perfectly good systems do they.
  2. Part of the issue is that these days MS virtually gives Windows for free (we all know why) and with that being the case l, I think some of the mentality is, "Did you pay for your Windows 10/11, no ? Well then you get no say" I have to say, to some degree, I get it.
  3. Possibly replied to the wrong thread ?
  4. Good news. The prior owners of NBR have replied to my query and we are talking. My hopes are that this leads to a positive outcome.
  5. I believe that as an operating system provider, there is a duty to provide a minimum level of security and to ensure this is kept up to date. So when I get the security updates rolled out to my system, for me it is a no brainer and I expect these to be mandatory and I think they should be. Microsoft provides a platform and for business reasons, ethical reasons and more, they have to maintain a minimum standard of security. I am glad they do as they are sometime more responsible than third parties in rolling out updates to prevent a users PC from being infected. I think the main issue between Microsoft and its users are the bigger "Service" updates. We all know that service updates come with both security and feature updates. I think the argument here is that it would be nice for these "Service" updates if you can choose to install only the security updates but not forced with the feature updates. In an ideal world, I think people should be able to choose what features they have, some people like the way their system operates and do not want/require the facelift improvements. Features and security should be separate where possible. The only caveat to that is if you have a feature in windows that has a security flaw, sometimes the only way to properly roll out the security fix is for the feature to be fully updated. In these instances, it would be reasonable for Microsoft to force these types of feature updates when it is 100% required for security reasons.
  6. Banned, because all I hear now is the SpongeBob's narrator....
  7. Yeah I saw this when I woke up...not good. Fortunately I have not purchased an NVMe drive recently. But yeah this will have some form of bearing on prices.
  8. Yeah that can be a pain, some updates also like to re-configure settings too which is a royal annoyance.
  9. Just waiting to see if I hear back from the owners. Only been a couple of days, would be amazing to hear from them this week.
  10. I do not agree with Meta's tactics at all, that being said could I live without Facebook, yes. Would I want to, not particularly and the ONLY reason is my contacts and for business reasons. Not having an FB presence both professionally and personally would make things more difficult for day to day. While it doesn't make it right, if Facebook wasn't doing questionable things with data, someone else would. The price you pay for using a "Free" platform. User data farming I do not agree with. That is why EHW has the least operationally possible data collection on users and that is an aim of mine to continue.
  11. Yeah I call BS on this. No way are they going to shoot themselves in the foot. I agree, this is more of a power move.
  12. Pretty much this. I have Windows 11 and enjoy it but it is not much different to Windows 10 other than a facelift im some areas. I jumped for when Direct Storage becomes a thing on PC but from what I hear Win10 is getting it too now. Not surprised at the poor adoption rate of Win11. There was really no need for it. MS should have just continued with Win10 as per the original plan.
  13. Good old schuking. I have done that in the past but only when I was certain I was going to get a good drive as some of the OEM drives are really poor.
  14. I am indeed investigating this avenue as I feel such a wealth of knowledge curated over years shouldn't be lost.
  15. Im excited about it and not even getting one. I know 100% I would not make enough use of it.
