  1. Thanks for the feedback. As for mobile views and text being truncated, that is difficult as the largest factor is the screen size. I avoid text wrapping as it increases the scrolling even more so. I will see if there are any other avenues but it is possible that what we have now so far as mobile, is as good as it gets. Thanks for the feedback ! When the site grows, I have no issues in having a Windows and Linux section subforum On an unrelated note. I cleaned up the thread. Seems like I touched on a touchy subject without knowing, my bad. Lets keep it positive. Thanks all for all the invaluable feedback, it is all good food for thought.
  2. I had considered removing those elements before and it may be sensible to. What do others think ? To be clear we are considering doing away with the highlighted text in the below screenshot.
  3. I hear that Mr Pook is hard to ban. With his gentle trolling here and there he gets away with it
  4. I have worked with AWS but not with this side of it. Though it would be interesting to know as for short term....maybe even long term could be cost effective. Unsure. I did a quick Google to see if I could locate anyone mentioning costs to them for running this or something on EC2 but did not find much. I guess the only thing to do would be to get one running and see the cost. The good thing with AWS is their billing is transparent and you can check on it anytime you want to see what cost you have racked up. So for example you could have the instance up for an hour and see what that cost you, or half a day and check again. That way you have a true representation. Trial and error I know.
  5. Thread title cut off, is this on the "Latest" blocks on the homepage or Thread titles in the forum index ? Mind taking a screenshot of the issue. Just so I better understand and see if anything can be done
  6. Exactly. This is why I am focusing on marketing in the new year :). But wanted to see what other insights you guys may have as there is always room for improvement 100% . Guides by actual users/enthusiasts will always hold more weight. I would love to have more guides for sure and its something I want to work on. However I think some of this comes hand in hand with having more active users too. Lots of guides come from you joe blogs enthusiasts that have an area of specific interest/knowledge.
  7. Thanks for all the comments thus far guys. @UltraMega Indeed. The podcast was weighted the same as at that point in time the Podcasts were flowing well, but due to peoples time constraints and life, these have all but stopped for now. So my goal is to change the Podcast block to something else, such as possibly showing a list of the latest product reviews. Will require some dev work but I know it can be done As for the Latest posts and News blocks, by default I only had 5 showing, but I can change these settings to show more by default prior to having to hit the "Reveal More" button. I stuck with 5 initially to try and avoid additional scrolling...which is always hard with forum sites due to the nature of the index. I like the idea to integrate the review site more closely with the forums. I am aware that you can have comments come through from the review site to the forums or possibly in a two way relation (Comments on Wordpress come to the forums and comments on the forum back to Wordpress). That is doable. I would have to have a think as to how this can be best achieved.
  8. EHXW > Is that the adult entertainment side of the site I did not know about ?
  9. Welcome good sir ! Glad to have you with us
  10. I am finding that it may be easier to stick with the software clients on a machine basis for VPN to be honest.
  11. Correct, my main focus for 2022 is to put the name out there and grow the family Some of this is already underway and some will be worked on throughout the new year. Looking to build on existing relationships and form new ones as always. I am looking forward to seeing where we are at by the end of 2022 haha.
  12. Hello all, So I like to get ahead of things were I can. I am focusing on what is next for EHW for 2022. However I need YOU to help me on this front. What is it you would like to see from us in 2022. This could range from Features, Competitions, Content and more. No idea is a bad idea, so feel free to be radical. I am big advocate on community engagement and making EHW not only an informative place to be but enjoyable as a whole. I am sure you guys can help with that Let the ideas flow! All the best, E
  13. Hello all, So it is that time of year again where we are rushing round at work to get those last minuet things out the way, gift shopping and stocking up the kitchen ready for the overindulgence. I hope you all have a very happy holiday period and life permitting, I hope you are all able to join your families over this period. I have been trying to work from home where possible to avoid catching anything nasty and having to deal with it over the holiday period as spending time with others would be rather nice. 2021 has been an interesting year to say the least. Since our launch, it has been a bumpy road for a few reasons, but 2021 saw us move over to our new platform (Invision Community) which has allowed us to branch out in the way we wanted to. We have most of the "Core" features in place that I personally would expect from a tech community. Lots of work has gone into the site this year and 2022 will see more work being done but more in the sense of marketing, promotions, and competitions. Though of course I am sure we will see a thing or two from a features perspective. The last two+ years has been a real learning curve so far as finding correct platform and seeking out the right guys for the right job, so far as our server admin, software dev and SEO team. Fortunately I am confident in saying that I have found a nice little team which is imperative to the continued and smooth running of the site. Since mid-December we have been working on SEO for the site. This includes a complete audit of both sites (Forum & Review), this is a relatively long process, and we will not have finished the groundwork for this until the end of Jan/Mid Feb. Once the groundwork is complete, there will be more tinkering undertaken as SEO is an always ongoing beast. The goal of course is to make sure that we have the best and most appropriate exposure possible. SEO takes a while to take hold, so approx. Jan 2023 we would look to evaluate our position once again. It has been great to see you guys utilize the site and its features. I love seeing all the questions, news topics and interactions within the community, it certainly gives me a buzz. I want to thank all of you for joining us on EHW and being a part of the family. Fingers crossed that next year we can build the ranks. On a semi related note, I want to thank all of those who have joined our Folding@Home team. It is no doubt that in the last year you guys have been SMASHING it. I have no doubt much of the same will come in 2022 and hopefully we can entice some others to join the cause. All in all, a huge thanks to all who make the community what it is, and I hope you all have a great holiday season. Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing you in 2022. Feel free to share what goodies you get this year All the best, Kim
  14. Rig Creator allows you to create a rig with multiple of the same component type, so I would imagine that will cover it. Any other more in depth description can be added as well.
  15. It was a good episode. It honestly however is amazing we have developed something to withstand the heat and forces of the sun. When I was a young kid, I wondered when it would happen...it was never an if as I have found, if we can imagine it, we can make it happen. For better or worse.
  16. Wow, great achievement bud. Really well done
