  1. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other? With the price of the Chrome books and the hardware on some of them you can understand why people would choose those over a Mac for some home uses(school, light work)
  2. The North Dakota senate just voted down the bill that would've banned Apple and Google from taking a cut of app sales from firms in the state. The vote in North Dakota was 36 senators against the bill, 11 for it. Arizona, Georgia and Massachusetts are now considering similar legislation, which is being pushed by Epic Games and its group, appfairness.?
  3. And the fight continues... https://techcrunch.com/2021/02/17/epic-games-takes-its-apple-app-store-fight-to-europe/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cueW91dHViZS5jb20v&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALxNhl8hzkyzAYedvxs4JZZc4KUA9lnYTgrnGrZ23GlYt09OgnQ7GuYVdQ4l2apR7hrOavRlC4ocOf-s6spFMkwvGF2cjbPx8-ymTOFmDxSlzyHYc5MjAuWIlQvqnHuH7ccJSK2CAtxgGbDnlWIQtjnMLtmIg1Y2avADmNMrV5Wi
  4. Oh HELL no, Sean Connery had plastic surgery and changed his name to Roger Moore before he had more Surgery and changed it back to Sean Connery later in life.(Aliases were always uses in the films to protect Bonds REAL identity...)After the second set of surgeries they just used a really good make up man to change his appearance and gave him different aliases in the later movies. It's still Connery though... ?
  5. Well, that was disappointing. After ck'n for supported hardware, this was the results. Nvidia = RTX 3090,3080,3070,3060Ti,3060,and RTX 30 Series Laptops. Also,Titan RTX,RTX 20 Series laptops,RTX 2080Ti,2080 S,2080,2070 S,2070,2060 S,and 2060.(so much for those who bought the 1600 series cards with the software support for the other features,Nvidia appreciates the money you wasted...) AMD support is RDNA2 from what I'm seeing and card wise here it is.DirectX® 12 Ultimate is Microsoft’s most robust DirectX® feature set ever and is fully supported on AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 series graphics cards and both new generation consoles(xbox series X/S and PS5)? they're gonna make people upgrade regardless.
  6. lol, I'm currently clearing the hdd on my other pc, cpu=i7 2700 gpu=gtx970 so you're far from being old hardware wise. (deleting games off the drive since I use the new rig mostly for my gaming) ?
  7. my first thought was that when the games start using it it would make gaming possible even for older generation cards and the current amd's wouldn't have to be replaced as quickly to stay viable.
  8. lol, this is the company that charges you $150.00 to assemble the parts they pick for your build along with the cost of parts & shipping, and gives you a ONE year warranty. ?
  9. Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM008 2TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive = $54.99 WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB Internal SSD - SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5"/7mm Solid State Drive - WDS100T2B0A = $109.99 WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB Internal SSD - SATA III 6Gb/s M.2 2280 Solid State Drive - WDS100T2B0B = $99.99 Hard drives will continue to sell as storage as long as the price difference remains like this. Twice the space @ half the price. ? prices per newegg.
  10. Isn't that when Nvidia will be releasing their 3080 Super cards? I mean if they follow the same release program as the RTX 2xxx series.... ? Oh, and the new 3060's will be dropping @ the end of this month also from 3rd party makers.(no founders edition)With 12 GB of ram.
  11. lol, and here's Nvidia's answer to the shortage.... https://www.pcworld.com/article/3607190/nvidia-rtx-30-graphics-card-shortages-gaming-gpu-gtx-1050-ti-geforce-rtx-2060.html “There have been a lot of rumors recently about Nvidia releasing more GPUs to AIBs from older generations—the [GeForce] RTX 2060 and GTX 1050 Ti were specifically mentioned,”
  12. YIKES! https://www.zdnet.com/article/plex-media-servers-are-being-abused-for-ddos-attacks/
  13. I see it more as being geared more for small business, they could have an office computer for less than $70.00 plus the subscription and a monitor. The pics show a system that could actually run the cpu/4GB ram license cloud system easily with the only delay really being the internet speed.(system has same 4GB of ram installed)This would make it easier on start up companies hardware wise. For that matter,it would even run off a firestick from what I could gather, all you'd need is a monitor to plug the stick into & a bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo.?
  14. C'mon, I'm sure they'll squeeze 1 more variant out.We have room for 2 more 3060 cards, the 3060 with 6Gb of ram & the 3060ti with 4 GB of ram. Both of which will be using the 2070s gpu's. ? Or have the 3060 gpu with about half the cores working... Nvidia will just box them like they did the 1060 6GB & the 1060 3GB cards, after all, they were Soooo straight forward to the common person buying off the shelf.?
  15. U can look for a sticker saying it supports it, but I'd look for the boards that have Flashback/Q-Flash support as they allow bios updates via USB without a supported cpu. Also this option is always there.... https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-105 short term boot loan kit from amd (if all else fails)
  16. When I built my system, the 5xx series wasn't out. I went with the x470 AORUS ULTRA Gaming from Gigabyte and haven't had any complaints using my 2700x in it. I'd imagine the x570 would show the same dependability. Was also a nice price @ the time.
  17. As I was reading this,I also was curious if some of your downloading issue might not be at Steams end,I was having issues updating several older games, and also 2 current games that had updates(dying light and destiny 2) I ended up having to disconnect from steam and reconnect to get the dying light download to restart @ a halfway normal speed(was STILL slow). The others took the rest of the day on a 400MBs. Would be interesting to know if the others without issues are going through other sites such as GOG or Epic....
  18. yeah, I think I got lucky when I found my buddy a zotac gtx 1060 AMP! edition that was refurbed on their site on ebay a couple months ago for around $170 after taxes and shipping. Now used 1's are listing @ $240 & up in the by now section, and new 1's are listing for $349.99? People will try to make as much as they can when there's a shortage.
  19. which kinda makes making money off clicking on a link to them without them getting a share seem even more of a raw deal. They aren't paying for the hosting, the media site is.
  20. If they release the 3080ti with 20Gb cheaper than a 3090, they can ALWAYS release a 3090 with 32Gb of Ram and call it the Titan32! ? Say a MSRP* price around $2199.00.... I'm sure there would be people who'd upgrade.
  21. In order, the 2 screenshots show a simple web search for "national guard parking garage" performed on Google and on Bing. BOTH show quite a bit of detail in the results(enough so that you can get the gist of the issue without reading the story). Google had an add on the main search result page,Bing did not. (unless firefox browser blocked them unknowingly to me)ABP was off for the search both times and was performed in their own tabs. In a way, this is really not that different from the monetized videos on youtube. You click on 1 of them, youtube gets money and the poster gets money. You don't click no one gets the money from the ad. The story providers are looking to have their links become "monetized" on sites that are ad supported since they are helping draw people there. At least that's how I am seeing this.It would take work on BOTH sides to actually work, the search engines, and the content provider would have to have something in THEIR site detecting if a person was coming from a 3rd party link and charge that link appropriately.
  22. if anyone is still trying to track the items, have you tried https://www.stockinformer.com/ here's a screenshot of some items and retailers they track,if U don't want to register, just leave a tab open in a browser on a comp that's running for the bell tone to notify you.(it'll still track & update if your registered or not)
  23. I think the semi logic is that Google is collecting from their advertisers every time we click on a link,so the media people figure they are providing the substance of the link we are clicking on,so google should be kicking back some of it to them.?
  24. lol, Well, now that I've been called, "stupid","dumb","selfish",MAYBE the name caller would like to address the ACTUAL points of the post? The points had nothing to do with Social Media censoring people. It had to do with AWS removing a client who had paid for their service because they disagreed with SOME of the things on the clients app. Are WE here at extremehw.net by any chance hosted on AWS? If so,then who knows if we may not be the next to be removed because we don't conform to Amazon's "look". As for being thrown out of a bar,or not having to bake a cake, the difference is that there are thousands & thousands of other bars & bakery's that the customer can go to if denied service. As for Cloud/web service providers, the big 3 are AWS,Google, and Microsoft. AWS removed the client and Google removed their app from their store.I don't know if Microsoft had it in their store or not,but do you think they'd willingly pick up what the other 2 dropped with that publicity? We keep hearing about "the right to access to the internet"but nobody talks about who actually CONTROLS what we're able to access. And please note I've NOT brought politics into this OR been nasty in any way.
  25. lol, believe it or not,I've actually had a system using RD-RAM. The 1.3 Ghz P4 willamette and I've STILL got the ram I purchased for it. My complaint was the cost compared to sdram sticks.
