  1. I'm in by way of Cerberus (thanks again, bud); you can exclude me from prizes as well.
  2. ^That's better than my 1/2 gig at Charter's $99/month (the plan I have).
  3. Looks easy enough 👍 Which delid tool did you use (rockitcool?) and how hot did you heat it up to?
  4. we'll keep that our little secret
  5. Even though it's not a Happy Birthday song, I'm betting he'd like the following song more:
  6. Colorful's Kudan, eh? That's a first for me. It does look interesting, but $5000+ would buy a lot of real steampunk. I do agree with Mr. Fox about all the tacky stuff being pawned off these days. Like him, I'm also not a fan of it. Btw, Kudan in Japanese seems to imply some kind of worshipped cow. Not quite the way it's worshipped in India (the Japanese are sensible and still eat beef), but still worshipped. Kudan (yōkai) - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  7. I might be crazy, but I'm not whacky (or maybe it's the other way around). uh, huh. You're still a favorite. Anyway, I sang Happy Birthday to you last year; this year I did a dance in speedos for Bastiaan. I even did what i did for you in my best tom waits voice: hb-for-pookie.mp3 took two days of mentholated suckers to clear up the hoarseness from that.
  8. It's actually the 27th, but it's already tomorrow by him.
  9. If it works, go for it, especially since it's far less expensive Me, I've had the cheaper E4 with hacked firmware on my wantlist for a few years now and went after the real thing. Now I'll be able to upgrade its firmware via Teledyne.
  10. Kinda makes me wonder whether running those GPTchats with Bing through a text-to-speech app would reflect a heavy, Southeast-Asian dialect.
  11. pookie gets free reign of my swamp patch.
  12. Speaking of temperature readings: Normally runs about $3400 plus tax.
  13. I actually was implying hardware made in China, but that's okay. I realize just how vested we are in such products and it could involve great hardships on us to totally boycott a country like China's products. OTOH, if we're really talking about truly boycotting a country's products...
  14. The game aside and given the current discussion, I can't help but wonder where many of us would be were we to have to boycott everything made in China. One man's politics can be another man's tripe. Just one of a number of things these days that make me go hmmm...
  15. Yeah, I get you (I've been around a while ) . That said, just in case you're not familiar with BOM tools that are available these days and/or you'd ever like/need to use them again: Things have improved vastly since days long past as far as creating and managing BOMs are concerned. Both DigiKey and Octopart have tools you can use to create BOMs, find available parts, at the best pricing. There are likely a number of variations on those as well, but Octopart and Digikey (primarily Octopart) are what I've been using: Octopart BOM Tool (accounts are free) Also see the following links for more info about (e.g.) Octopart's BOM tool (there's plenty of explanatory info): Youtube search returns https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=octopart+bom+tool Google search returns https://www.google.com/search?q=octopart+bom+tool Let me know if you'd like to know more.
  16. Those temperature readings are at least 5,000 years old now; heck, for all we know that nebula could have been consumed by a giant dwarf since.
  17. ^You left out you buy land in Antarctica to escape the heat.
  18. That's a great find, @Bastiaan_NL! Adding to what @J7SC_Orionstated, didn't you have to lube that tube with (e.g.) vaseline? Or was it just the motherboard? To protect from the frozen condensation (ice) that could build up?
  19. I still use the pwm SW3s myself (got about 60 or so of them, 120s and 140s), and don't feel compelled to upgrade them to the SW4s.
  20. Could be BeQuiet phased out the SW3s because there was a problem with using the pwm versions with AquaComputer Aquaeros. SW3 fans were originally designed by BeQuiet to be used with their cases, which included additional circuitry to "pull up" the pwm signals applied to them to 5 volt levels (you couldn't control pwm SW3s using the Aquaero unless you added additional circuitry to raise pwm signal levels to 5V; a similar issue was experienced using pwm pumps with the Aquaero). This was determined by IT DIVA on OCN, and she eventually designed an addon circuit that provided properly spec'd pullup resistance. There's a rabbit hole for all that which begins right about here, back in 2014: https://www.overclock.net/threads/pwm-d5-pump.1473190/#post-21971680 Anyway, AquaComputer eventually added similar circuitry to the SPLITTY9 Active and QUADRO products, which helped mitigate the problem down the road.
  21. Ah, apologies, I thought you were NwAvGuy. My bad. Anyway, did you build the O2 Amplifier using a preassembled kit, or did you purchase everything based on a BOM?
