  1. Yeah. Over the years and depending on the facility/location, the VA certainly had its share of serious problems; but the same sorts of things (if not worse) have happened in non-VA hospitals as well. Once can only hope that if they do have to go into the hospital, they're properly taken care of (which isn't necessarily always the case, VA or not). Anyway, I'm home now. I would like to thank everyone who kept me in mind while I was in the hospital, you guys helped me grin and bear it during all the finger prodding, poking , and puncturing; and a special thanks to @Avacadofor the extra mile he went along the way
  2. So I had the opportunity to be discharged today from the hospital, but they needed approval from the VA for the O2 I need while sleeping; they tell me though that the VA is typically slow in responding (especially on Veterans' Day, eh?). So I drew a pic of a middle finger with an arrow pointing to "VA," accompanied by "Thank You For Your Service."
  3. Retirement, August 1992; 2 years C141s, C124s and C130s; 2 years F4Cs; 2 years F4Es; 2 years F101s, F106s, and T33s; 10 years A10s; 2.5 years RF4Es, in that order.
  4. Ah, yes, those infamous black and blue marks... they're nondisciminatory, of course
  5. Yeah, been using the "jug" myself, on strict ins and outs because of the fluid buildup in my lungs. Anyway, they did do the cath this morning (sans sedation). The doc in charge of camera head contols also managed Alexa music choices and started with Going up to the spirit in the sky, followed in turn by the Doors The End, LA Woman, a few others I don't recall, and Screaming Jay Hawkins Constipation Blues. Alas, Alexa couldn't find D.O.A. by Bloodrock, nor They All Died. Should be out of here in a couple of days (still have fluid in my lungs): and no interventions were required in my heart. More to come...
  6. Cardiac cath tomorrow if all fluid is out of my lungs--they've been making me pee like a thoroughbred when I'm probably really little more than a mustang sally. Rhetorically speaking, that is
  7. Sounds like either a challenge or this thread has morphed into a ban thread (and everyone who's anyone knows there can only be ONE ban thread per forum). Just in case though, bant.
  8. Add 3/4 cup chunky dead baby to an extra large glass shaker along with 16 ounces of coca cola. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Sweeten to taste, drop an olive and one of those small party favor Hawaiian punch like umbrellas in it for aesthetics, and enjoy
  9. I'm taking lessons in that at the moment. Overheard out of the nurses' station near my bed cubby: "how do you make a dead baby float...?"
  10. Thinking about getting myself a couple of these to help with steadying my rhythm ,,, must be my meds.
  11. A couple of the traveling nurses here taking care of me are from Jamaica. I just introduced them to Bobby mcferrin's cover of don't worry be happy.
  12. Not even close, more like this
  13. Thanks for all the well wishes guys, I really do appreciate it. If there are no. blood clots in my heart, they're going to do something called a cardiovert tomorrow morning. Hopefully that'll fix me at least somewhat. Anyway, if and when I'm able to, I'll post an update letting you all know the prognosis.
  14. Thus far all my nurses have been 'traveling' nurses, due to the staffing shortages locally: but they've been pretty good/knowledgable. It's some of the doctors that create the impression they think they're God's gift to medicine; when in actuality, they'd probably fit fairly well in a traveling circus side show act. Anyway, it looks like the 'operation' will be a success and I've learned that I'm not Highlander. Oh, and btw, you can still call me Jan (it's unisex). --from my hospital bed.
  15. I sent a PM to @Avacadohe knows what's up. I'll likely be out of pocket for up to a week. Cvph plattsburgh.
  16. My 13900K showed up today as well. Also got my package from Watercool: Not that it's a problem for me, but I should note that the A20 Chromax fans for the MORA as shipped by Watercool don't come with cables. Just in case anyone else decides to order some of those fans someday.
  17. Looks like the ride may not be over yet (read through this post): But Teaktown claims Jensen flew to Taiwan for a different reason: Anyway, the he saids she saids appear to be propagating wildly.
  18. I can't seem to face up to the facts I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire Don't touch me, I'm a real live wire...
  19. ^The Green Day cover doesn't do this song justice Peace
  20. ^chuckle, you can keep your dongle. They're now saying it's the dongle NVIDIA supplied that's made by Astron Corporation that's the culprit. Igor's Lab shared some details (Google translate if you don't schpeak sharemany).
  21. I noted that, but don't feel it was extensive enough. That said, he did allude to the possibility it might require a lot more time, a lot more testing, etc. In my not so humble opinion, a 20 minute influencer's video often proves little more than the fact they got free product from a manufacturer. Anyway, see the following two applicable documents that separate the wheat from the chaff: GS-12-1706 GENERAL PRODUCT SPECIFICATION Minitek Pwr CEM-5 12VHPWR Wire to Board Connectors https://www.mouser.com/pdfDocs/gs-12-1706.pdf GS-20-0704 APPLICATION SPECIFICATION Minitek Pwr CEM-5 12VHPWR Wire to Board Connectors https://www.mouser.com/pdfDocs/gs-20-0704.pdf Furthermore, just in from r/nvidia:
  22. The CableMod cable might provide a bit more strain relief with that half shelf surrounding the connecter; I'd personally like to see a full shell that would allow a user to securely fasten the connector to its mating connector, sort of like a db9 or db15. That won't happen of course because the height of a normally mounted card with such connectors would likely preclude closing most case doors (except for very deep cases perhaps). The point I think Jay missed out on though is it's not the bending of the cable per se that's causing the problem; it's the mismatch between pin connections in the two mating connectors that can happen if they're not seated together properly; the assumption being that because of the way power input is managed by that circuit, it forces excessive current to travel through the connections offering lessor resistance, in-turn exceeding the current carrying capacities of those circuits; followed by the buildup of excessive heat which results in melting, then burning plastic, followed eventually by fire if a stop isn't put to it all... I'm betting that had Jay diked one or more wires feeding into that connector, he wouldn't have had any trouble duplicating the issue. Anyway, if you want to loan me your card and cables I'd gladly put that hypothesis to the test
  23. und? I'll grant you that about the compliant psu, but the spec is still fubar for all practical purposes. That's a military term, btw, fubar. I could have also used goat rope, cluster you-know-what, or what have you. It's obvious enough thought didn't go into it (e.g., they didn't consider the usecase that clueless, heavy handed users like some 'pc enthusiasts' might put too much strain on that connector assembly's mating parts). There is no argument (rhetorically speaking) someone could present to me that would make me agree that the folks who put the spec together and blessed it for pci-sig aren't at fault. Source.
  24. It's not about those older connectors which were problematic because their users really were heavy handed and/or didn't have a clue; it's about the really poor design decisions that went into this new pos that's supposed to handle up to 1,368 watts (9.5amps x 12pins x 12volts). sorry, bubba, no, it's not.
