    2022 Team Cup!

Okay, found the Heatkiller block kit for the 2080ti, so I'm committed. I also have an AquaComputer kit for the card that includes their "active" backplate, but that only really amounts to a heat pipe that runs from their backplate to the cooling plate on the front. I'd have to dig further for that kit though and figured I'd use the one I came across first:
  2. i also tried searching for "leather jacket's worth" instead, but only ended up with pseudo imitations...
  3. Regardless of what's really behind all this as far as computer bits and pieces go, what with everything that's going on everywhere, I'm remaining in a wait and see mode. I might end up being pleasantly surprised and/or mildly disappointed, accompanied by I told you so's and I didn't know that's lurk behind whatever ends up becoming my elephant in any of the rooms that I might flock to.
  4. custom "pump" bracket has been ordered and should be here in about two weeks
  5. Simpson gauges arrived... (for my Atlas II build). Also, some old analog tech showed up for my "wall of fame." The "portable" gauge set was accompanied by a Montana Power blank work order with a set of "cal" data on its rear dated 1945. Found it hidden in the bottom of the case. The gauge set itself dates from 1917 and weighs about as much as the cast iron New England Butt Co. plate: Tried sitting on the butt plate, but it really didn't do anything for my derrière.
  6. Final update before I start working on making changes to my bench rig to accommodate HWBOT competition testing for the 2080ti. I'll need to swap out the Watercool cooler on the cpu and replace it with the TechN cooler; and run the card first on air to make sure it works, then add a waterblock to it. It'll likely take me a few days to do all that because of the hardline, etc. (I've got plenty of Tygon and compression fittings that should help speed that up). I'll also be swapping out the Kingpin 3090 at that time and it'll be going into the Atlas II build. Also now thinking about adding a third gauge somewhere to do gpu volt mods (Bastian's idea). Anyway, some more pix that reflect what the gauges will look like in the pod. They still need to be properly centered in their cups:
  7. made a few changes to that prototype, and am going to have a new pump bracket made for the build; it includes mounting for the gauge pod, an area for test jacks, and an area for eight panel fuse holders w/led indicators. Oh, almost forgot, my Simpson gauges should arrive tomorrow. added: gonna use 1/8" bright annealed stainless for that custom plate.
  8. Got the gauge pod/fuse block mounting bracket drilled out:
  9. I unfortunately never got to see Janis in concert, but my older brother did take me to see Joe a few days before he appeared at Woodstock at a small, improve concert he did with Sly & the Family Stone and Sha Na Na at Freeport Municipal Racing Stadium. Compare & contrast: two covers, with heart:
  10. One more oldie but goodie:
  11. Heck, the whole album is High Voltage.
  12. but mine sounds more like ohm. up next: join the resistance.
  13. music to mess with shunt resistors to...
  14. Thanks and yeah, as you likely know, black pipe quickly turns into a heavy duty rust magnet if you clean the oils it ships in off and don't cover it with something else. I've got a plan though. I always do
  15. I'm getting ready to cut that cord. What should I do with the bag that's attached? ION (in other news), both the black pipe and the shielding/heat shrink have showed up. Gonna be a fun side project.
  16. @Cerberusit's on its way. I'll PM you the tracking no.
  17. next up, just won, more steampunk stuff:
  18. More items coming in for my menagerie. First up follows: ...because everyone should own at least one thing made by a butt company. I'll be giving this NOS item my steampunk treatment. Note: it's actually a New England Butt Company cast iron rope machine gear cover. You can read more about that here. More coming soon.
  19. sounds to do absolutely nothing to except watch, wonder, and wander. and one to do the copper boogie to
  20. I'm not using it; PM me and let me know where to send it. I'm pretty sure you'll get at least 500K (if not 700K+) PPD out of it, when you've got time to get to it.
  21. @CerberusI've got a spare MSi GTX 1080 Sea Hawk EK X that's not doing anything if it will help the cause (not mine, but it looks like what follows): Not sure if you're running anything water-cooled though.
  22. music to play with copper to... and for the naysayers...
