  1. only when it's accompanied by orange, cream-filled cupcakes. THC + orange cream filled cupcakes =
  2. Gandalf says yea, but they got the best trolls. Oh, and hobbits too.
  3. You know, when you're working with something that you feel could be dodgy, the following sort of thing can help alleviate some of that (got payment confirmation):
  4. I actually also originally tried the Facebook route, but they never got back to me as well. Then I noted (forget exactly where, but it might have been reddit) that the best new way to attempt to order the kit was to a) watch for it to show up in stock on their site; b) order it there after creating an account (interesting experience), then; c) pay for it using a cc via PayPal. The PayPal method was only recently added to their store and payments actually go to: I suspect they're not very web savvy as far as web stores go. That said, I did note that 'Rawee Odvong' is mentioned here and there as the one on the receiving end as far as funds go. Very mysterious stuff, what goes on in the darkest corners of SE Asia. The elephants aren't complaining though (It is clear that for the most part, Thai people love and worship elephants; you want to avoid Phucket though, where at least one restaurant advertises meals comprised of elephant meat.).
  5. Interesting registration and purchase experience . I'll probably wake up tomorrow and all of my bank accounts will be empty and learn I now live in 762 different international locations and have 11 different genders. anyway, at more than half the price of the purchase, their rush shipping (ten days) probably helps keep the international (and illegal) trafficking of elephants down to a minimum...
  6. More toyz that'll test your 'contentment'
  7. I'll put it on wish list and let you buy me a fully equipped one for xmas. (it's only 246 days away for the next two hours and four minutes)
  8. Regarding the Atlas II bracket mods I've been working on to mount the dual D5/dual res/manifold assy, no matter the option I chose, I kept going back to idea of modding the Atlas II oem side bracket. I just wasn't happy with the way my own brackets were turning out for me and I must say I am pretty happy thus far with the modded oem side bar. I did the cutting, filing, sanding, then primed with self etching rustoleum, then covered that with rustoleum's black hammered metal. It's a bit more glossy than the original powdercoat finish and I might cut that down a bit in a day or so using a light rub; and it needs to sit 48 hours to ensure it's fully dry before I mount it again:
  9. Oh, yeah, I'd guess anyone who uses paracord (and researched its use) to sleeve their cables has come across it's many other uses. It can be really handy stuff and I imagine you could have a lot of fun turning a hobby like that into a marketable sort of enterprise.
  10. I've actually installed a Seasonic Platinum 1300 in the rear; those Cooler Master PSUs were sent to me for review purposes. I might throw an EHW giveaway contest once I'm done with that work. Oh, and as for taking my stuff, bring plenty of Band-Aids. Preferably large, highly absorbent ones.
  11. speak of the devil (they just showed up):
  12. lol, thanks. I just finally got a notification that Optimus has shipped the block for my pook's 3090 Strix. I might do a copper backplate for it; if I do, I might also fine tune the design for the 3090 Dark. ...in between everything else that is (thinking about running for POTUS in 2024).
  13. Thanks, bud The 'case' really isn't a case per se, but an open air framework. It's the Yuel Beast Atlas II, which is currently sold out. They're a very small shop, but working very hard at being successful, and have a very active Discord channel. Oh, and they will eventually have another run at the Atlas (their runs tend to be cyclic). You never know, I might eventually get around to that
  14. Might as well move the Yuel Beast Atlas II (my Z690 project) stuff to this thread. Been pretty busy lately... Anyway, so I've got the mounting more or less figured out for the dual D5/dual res/manifold combo, and am starting to rewire/sleeve the pumps. I'll combine the 12vdc lines and gnd lines from both pumps, but keep the pwm/speed lines separate. Also going to see how the 3M Di-Noc looks on the pump housings, top covers, and possible even the surface of the clamps holding the pumps to the manifold. The pumps will be wired to the psu, while pwm will be managed via an AquaComputer OCTO and AquaSuite. Also included below in the first spoiler are my favorite crimpers. I'm also going to order some black anodized low profile KLUs and some black anodized aluminum angle, combine the two, and come up with a custom bracket that will direct lighting from an AquaComputer RGB strip into the far side of dual D5/dual res/manifold combo while more or less hiding the strip from external view: As for other work, also will need to start working on EHW sanctioned reviews of two new Cooler Master PSUs: their XG750 & XG850 Plus Platinum Full Modular ARGB lineup. The PSUs are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, and I'll start laying out the review post for them next week. In between all that got a web site I need to fix for someone after they turned their SEO into a fubar'd mess.
  15. ^Chuckle, yeah, you'd think... and a little guy that pushes me around the workbench as I tinker with things and make adjustments? I did tick the box that tells them to send me the oversized 75mm casters for carpet, which were a $20 additional charge. I've bookmarked the link you provided though, just in case those I get turn out to be garbage. Anyway, given the pricing, maybe I should've ordered the leather scratch n' sniff version? It might not glide easier over my workroom floor, but at least I'll know my chair doesn't smell like butt (read: me).
  16. Been following this thread myself because my dx 'speed' racer chair has pretty much been tearing the gears up in my rear end to the extent that even an oil change won't help it. It's time for me to downsize from this truly uncomfortable behemoth; so I think I'm going to pull the lever on the following Crandall purchase when I get up later today: It's not a refurb per se, but a factory authorized return; and it's about ~$500 cheaper than buying it from Steelcase.
  17. Hard to say, but it could still be a bit early to be looking for the newly introduced 12 pin pcie layouts to be showing up in custom cable shops. I'd normally recommend Mod-One (Titan Rig) as the others have already suggested, or Ensourced Custom Cables (I used them a few years ago). I'd send either (or both of them) a message to see where they're at with the new design. Another option would of course be making your own set of cables; if it were me and I wanted said cables, I'd go that route as I'd already have the connectors I needed to do so in the cable provided by the psu manufacturer (would just need to remove them from that cable). The tools and know-how are already in place as well (I've got a fairly broad collection of crimpers; might need to get some pins though, depending...). Ref. 19. Can it get any faster? How 'bout servers using AI that send you what you want before you make a request to do so. Spoopy.
  20. Re. Amazon pricing, they're also going to start adding a 5% “fuel and inflation” surcharge to seller fees for Prime shipping. I'll give you one guess who will likely end up paying for that: ARSTechnica: Amazon adds 5% “fuel and inflation” surcharge to seller fees for Prime shipping Anyway, I don't personally know whether the PC Industry hates contentment, but I'd bet they sure don't like apathy on the part of the consumer. Now it's back to my regularly scheduled activities (it is that time of year after all).
