Finally received the IceMan Cooler Direct Touch Memory Cooler.  Got a nice gain in RAM cooling on the Apex Encore. The IceMan direct touch RAM block seems to give about the same delta as the Supercool does. These suckers are super heavy. Heavier than the Supercool because the backplate is thicker. The black bezel on top that covers the screws is magnetized and also made of metal. If there is anything that I wish would be different is the use of Philips head screws to attach the block to the jackets. They are a bit soft. Stainless steel Allen or Torx would have been better.

Comparing it to the Byski memory water cooling kit...

    bdBEM8O.jpg

And, temps are still nice with my 8600 profile even with the elevated voltage. IceMan Cooling did really great with the memory cooling kit. The water in the cooling system for the Apex is about 5°C colder than the water in the Apex Encore loop. (The Apex has a 5-gallon reservoir and the radiator is near an open window, and the radiator for the Encore is in a corner of the office.) And, the difference in temperature reflects that precisely. That being the case, I call it a draw... "Even Steven" comparing it to the Supercool memory cooling kit.

I rarely see people water cooling memory. Compared to you, my system is pleb, lol.

Looks absolutely fantastic and the performance is crazy, I'd love to see your AIDA64 results with your RAM clocked that high.

  2. Yeah back in 2012 people were running -bigadv on 2600k at 5GHz and just barely completing them in time, but they were doing a few hundred thousand points daily if I recall, and millions a month. It was by far the best way to make a ton of points.

This was before GPU folding was lucrative at all for points - I remember folding on an HD 6870 and doing 8000 ppd, for an entire year 24/7, and I got a badge for it on OCN.

  3. It's saying the size of the file on my phone is 1.6mb, but on desktop when I downloaded the image as gif instead of webp, it was 7.6mb. So I'm thinking it's being rejected on mobile due to file size?

  4. Hey,

I am trying to upload and change my avatar/profile photo and when I do, what I want to use will successfully upload (its a 1.6mb webp GIF) but when I go to submit, it fails and says "this field is required" with a * next to Photo Type at the top.

  5. Give this a shot. When you try it you'll love it.

Chai it, You'll like it. This is how Chai is doen right: with real cinnamon, ginger and fancy green cardamom - full...

I drink it black with a heaping spoon (regular spoon) of brown sugar. When I make chai lattes, I do the same thing but add Half and Half to make it creamy.

You won't be wasting your money, but go easy on the stuff when you brew it or it will be too spicy. I do a layer that's just enough to cover the bottom of my french press + a little bit more.

Ah didn't realize that and I should have probably checked first.  Ironically the sticker I won from a recent folding event is one of the only items that actually don't have the URL on it.

Those were made by Fluxmaven; they didn't come from the merchandise store. I have one too. I think he got them printed up somewhere.

You can't find a link for the "tea" labeled "Gunpowder"

lol I kid! Thanks for sharing the spread! I'll need to check them out. I am curious if there is a local distributor so I can to my list of preferred vendors.

We get Cameron's tea by weight from plastic bins at a grocery store called Woodman's here. Actually they don't have it here in Rockford, but they have it in Madison (where we lived til 2021)

If you look on Cameron's website they only sell a bulk amount in a 2 lbs bag. However, we get it in those small sized brown bags and a bag is like $15.

Try and find a grocery store that has Cameron's in bins or Rishi and Harney and Sons on shelves. Whole Foods should carry Rishi. We don't have any grocery store here that carries Rishi, so we just buy it online. Same with Harney and Sons.

  8. As promised, here are all my teas. I will post links to them all shortly. If anyone is curious as to what they actually look like in their bags, let me know and I'll take a photo of the tea itself.

Just throwing it out there and it may have been discussed prior to this thread, but any consideration to actually putting the URL itself with the logo?  The logo itself is cool but it alone on stickers, mugs, etc. doesn't actually direct you to a site and can be interpreted (at least for the stickers) as a motorsports, parts, tools, bmx, etc. company.

Yes. I did this in December 2022. I added .net to the logo before making t-shirt designs, so people know it's a website not something else. It is on a lot of products in the store.

I have indeed found a new supplier for the T-Shirts and I am trialling one as we speak. However please note that life is not always "Just do it already". Cash is king, and to be frank, ordering samples to trial costs, just as much as the store actually has to be financed BEFORE orders come in. The production for all orders has to be financed directly by EHW, to which you need to have the funds to ensure that you can cover a good majority of orders to avoid delays and disappointments. Remember that users who spend their cash on an order, EHW see's none of it for a little while as all funds are held before being released. So it is not the case of spending your money to manufacturer and ship the order, EHW has to cover everything up front.

To put things into perspective, I am a sole worker in the family which has to cover mortgage, utility bills, debts etc etc. While user premium subscriptions and kind donations goes someway towards the running of EHW, I pay the rest, including any merch related ventures and marketing.

So as you can appreciate while time is a constraint on my end at times, money is a bigger one. Rest assured I am going as fast as my wallet allows 🙂

Sure thing, I am happy to hear you are trialling one now, and didn't really think much about the financial situation or aspect. Much less about you being sole provider in a family.

Edit: Sorry I was so pushy that you had to spell it all out for me publicly in big bright letters. I can be dense at times, my fault.

    Thanks guys.

As I say, there will be more T-shirts soon and I will add in some images related to technology that helps to pull in the name relative to a subject matter. What I will say is that so far as marketing the community, the merchandise is not the top priority right now. While the merch certainly helps in this area, It is a piece of a bigger puzzle and there are pieces that have higher importance 🙂

Realistically, the Merch only penetrates so far as the immediate community and its marketing power outside of that by wearers is low (right now) but in time it could pack more punch.

We really need a shirt and I'm fine with the same design that was used on the previously available T-shirt, just printed differently so it holds up better. I assume that was your reasoning as to why it was removed from Etsy; the printing came off or something. I shoulda got one when I had the chance.

If you find or found a different printing provider that can do dye-sub or screen printing, and works with Etsy, I really don't see why you need to delay ordering a sample, evaluate it, and put it back on the store. Can't this happen relatively in the background while you focus on "the bigger pieces of the puzzle" as you called it?

Aside from that, telling people about EHW and giving them the URL is something I have done for a while. Even with people non tech savvy. For example, my doctor, my psychiatrist, some physical therapists when I was still doing it, and family members. Whether or not they checked the site out at all, I have no idea. But who knows, a lot of people here work in IT, so telling your coworkers and giving them the address is one small way to grow the site.

I haven't opened them yet but they should all be loose-leaf. We have a similar type of metal mesh baskets to the link below to infuse the tea leaves. We brew tea per cup and not in a larger tea pot (batch serving).

Typically I do one tablespoon per mug / basket. Depending on the tea, like green tea, I may temper the water or simply wait for it to cool down before brewing.

    https://www.amazon.ca/Basket-Leaves-Strainer-Teapot-Filter/dp/B016DT2KZY

Once it's brewed, take out the basket, and I usually add lemon and honey.

It's not popular here but if you go into any Germanic / Eastern-European (German / Polish) type grocery store, you can buy fruit syrups for tea or drinks. My wife introduced them to me years ago. I'm not a huge fan but if you like a sweet drink, you can add that too. https://polka-deli.com/652-herbapol-syrups

I specifically chose the "Earl Grey" loose leaf tea as I wanted to try and make a "London Fog"  https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/london-fog-tea-latte-london-fog-drink/

I just use a french press for my tea, it makes two of these:

    PXL_20240116_220243659.thumb.jpg.1f1791c4d34a6a9b2fbb35230110ca26.jpg

Cup looks larger than it is. I'm guessing its about 10oz.

I drink all grades of tea but in the last few months I've only wanted tea with honey. You can't really put honey into something like sencha. So I haven't really been doing strong greens.

I'll for sure check out the flavoring syrup as I'm interested in that. Thanks.

Tomorrow I'll try and haul all my tea out and take photos and provide links.

  13. Here's my suggestion:

@ENTERPRISEI know it's on the back burner for you, but you have multiple t-shirt designs you need to sample and then add to the store.

Going into a Microcenter or a Best Buy and possibly other places wearing a shirt with "Extremehw.net" in big letters across your chest is some good real-world (meatspace lol) advertising. Surely someone would notice and possibly check the site out and join.

Yup, that sounds closer to what my Redragon sounds like.  It very well could just be that my Redragon is worn out, and / or it could be something to do with the bottoming out noise too.  I noticed this Rosewill keyboard almost sounds "softer" when bottoming out compared to the Redragon.  Maybe the keycap material or something?  Not sure.  But yeah, that video you showed is basically the level of "clicky" I was hoping for.

Like I said, for a $30 board, this Rosewill is really good.  I paid $55 for the "Ajazz" Chinese MX Browns board 4 years or so ago.  My Ajazz board still works absolutely great, like new (its just filthy dirty now).  I just didn't like the MX Browns switches on it.  So I'm confident this Rosewill K85 will probably last me for another good few years.  I'm in no hurry for an expensive board, I have other hardware to buy. 🙂

Are you sure the Redragon board you have has MX Blues? How much did you pay for it?

The Redragon boards with blue switches generally use Outemu blues, and those are super loud. I know you're not in the hobby as much as I am so maybe you're not aware? No offense.

I would take a keycap off the clicky Redragon then use your phone to zoom in on the switch housing on the side facing you, and the manufacturer is generally printed there.

The one downside to that K85 is that the keycaps are ABS, not PBT, but they generally are ABS on the cheap Chinese keyboards, too. Recently had a Rosewill K85 as a foldathon prize and Supercrumpet won it, he put a set of PBT pudding caps on it as well as some blue o-rings.

It may be softer bottoming out but if you bottom out (particularly with space) with that board, you'll get a loudish metal clang. You might disagree with that though, but when I used one as my daily driver the hollow metal clang was only solved by applying o-rings.
