I'm only going to say this once......

    Quit apologizing. 🤣

The keyboard is fine.  It's not quite MX Blues level of clicky / tactile feeling for me, compared to my old Redragon, yes.  But it was a $30 gamble, and I took the bet.  Honestly, it was well worth the $30, maybe even more as I like this board 100x better than the MX Browns switch board I just got rid of off my desk.  It's just not QUITE as "clicky" as I'd have hoped for.  But its a ton better than MX Browns.  Why'd I ever think I'd like MX Browns?  🤣

Clicky all the way brother! Yeah MX Browns aren't that great, I've seen a lot of people over the years recommending Gateron Browns instead.

If you ever get the spare cash, you should build a custom board, maybe a Keychron, and if you want clicky use Box Jades- they're the loudest and most clicky switch I have.

Please update my submission on the list to ALSO include now a Rosewill Neon K85 with Kailh Blue switches.

It's not the MX Blues board I was hoping for to be honest, but for the $30 price tag on newegg, I have to say this is quite a nice board.  I feel like actual Cherry MX Blue switches are more clicky and that tactile "bump" is more pronounced.  This Kailh Blue switch board is a lot more tame than MX Blues I feel like?  It's a lot better than the MX Browns I had before, that's for sure though (my MX Blues Redragon is a 60% and I can't use 60% boards daily driver).

Would love to see/hear a comparison video between your MX Blue board and the K85 with Kailh Blues.

Thanks for the suggestion, will take a look.

I appreciate the offer. Will let you know what I end up going with, but will probably go for new.

The Browns are old but never used. From around 2019.

The Yellows, some of them are actually brand new and were pulled from the YUNZII IF98 board I just built in December. The rest are a year old and were pulled from a YUNZII numpad and a Mini Cat 64.

None of these have seen any use at all, they were removed immediately and never typed on.

Sorry 😐 I just have all these in storage and no use for them, if anyone else wants them let me know. Otherwise eventually they'll probably go in the bin.

  4. @Sir Beregond if you saw this previously, I edited it because I realized the GMMK full size I linked was no longer available on Amazon.

As for switches, if you're interested in linear quiet switches at all, I have a big ass bag of Gateron yellows I would be willing to send you in the mail for free. Probably at least 150+. I also have Gateron Browns (tactile)that were pulled from my original GMMK v2 full size board, but not quite 104. I think my GMMK has a couple in it, for example on the caps lock key, so if I hit it by accident trying to press tab I instantly know. I could pull those and replace them with some yellows, to send you some Gateron Browns (these are very popular and solid tactile switches that I've heard are better than Cherry Browns and some of the best tactile switches you can get...)

The yellows are linear but feel kind of tactile to me. When I first did my Mini Cat for my fiancee I thought they were tactile until I looked them up this year. They are extremely smooth and quiet, throw some red o-rings on your keycaps and they'll be even quieter.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: try this board maybe? I can vouch for Keychron quality. Should be padded with noise dampening foam inside and lubed stabilizers.

Keychron K10 Wireless mechanical keyboard has included keycaps for both Windows and macOS, and...

I look computer components as a sunk cost in entertainment. I'd get more hours of enjoyment from a 4090 than a ticket to a Taylor Swift concert for the same cost. Granted I wouldn't enjoy one of her shows if it were $20 lol.

Eventually I'll probably get tired of the hobby and sell everything off for cheap, but at that point I'll have had years of enjoyment from everything.

With everything you have you really need to get on hwbot and bench it all.

  6. Yeah I love my 4090 for f@h and since I only game at 3440x1440p 144Hz (and mostly play Forza Horizon series, a very old MMO, and have a bunch of older games to play through) I wouldn't need the upgrade. Horizon 4 and 5 are extremely well optimized and DX12, my 1080tis in SLI I upgraded from couldn't do 144Hz whereas the 4090 does it at ease with only 70% GPU usage and runs at 45C.

I'm drooling over those specs if they turn out to be true but I just don't play enough modern games to justify the purchase... And *ahem* justify the purchase to my fiancee in particular 😂

I will probably be hanging on to the 4090 for another 4 years and then get a 6090 or 7090 but if they are priced above $2k USD I might have to look at alternatives or go for a lower tier card.

    That's my two cents.

What's new? I discovered that my RAM hit wall at 7000Mhz.. they are not that great so i am thinking on getting "better kit" always silicon lottery tho but still.

    Happy New Year!

i'm a simpleton. i do folger's dark in my bunn, or green tea bags in hot water.

gives me more room to think about other stuff.

We used to have a Bunn but with 3 people drinking coffee, it got dirty fast. Damn those things make a pot of coffee quick, I really miss ours.

When I was not at home because of... Reasons, Mom went out and got this stupid cheapo Cuisinart machine that I hate. It's so slow even to do an 8 cup pot. My fiancee had no say in it and she's generally not one to complain, but I sure have.

Also my parents drank regular Folgers for years when I was a kid. It was probably the first coffee I tried when I was a little kid. Nothing wrong with it and you can get a big container that would last one person a few weeks so it's economical.

The green tea in a tea bag I won't endorse though XD

It’s not too complex but I tried to provide more context. In that regard, the post may be too confusing 🙂

Ultimately, darker bean = more resistance = coarser grind to compensate. Lighter bean = less resistance = finer grind to compensate. Still learning but it’s definitely fun and if you’re into coffee, highly recommend going prosumer.

Whilst I don’t drink tea* nearly as often, it’s winter and both my wife and I have been in and out of colds / sicknesses. We’ve been drinking a lot of tea recently. My wife’s family is Polish and tea is fairly popular there. The mother-in-law sent some tea leaves in a parcel a couple months ago. We’re drinking a baked apple black tea and it’s pretty delicious. Honey and lemon for a bit of acid and sweetness and it holds up well. Pieczone = baked, jabiuszka = apple.

Oh that looks great! I drink Rishi tea mostly but also Cameron's that you can get in a bin in bulk at a grocery store.

I have a Rishi Peach Blossom (white tea) as well as Cameron's French Plum (black) and make them both often.

    https://rishi-tea.com/products/peach-blossom-white-tea?variant=44376703959290

  10. All of that is way over my head. However, it made for an interesting read, and it looks delicious! 😊 It's crazy how far you can take it in pursuit of a hobby and passion, and you certainly seem to know a lot and have it figured out.

Personally, I prefer cappuccino and sugary coffee, Generally don't go to any coffee shops or anything like that though. Have French Vanilla from a cheap Cuisinart machine that has a single serve maker every morning. Sigh. If I could get what you're making I know it would be so much better. At least I've started drinking Kicking Horse now.

When it comes to tea, I do nothing but loose leaf tea in a French Press (it makes enough for appx. 2 10oz cups). I drink all grades of tea. Yeah, that green tea in a bag you can order at any Chinese restaurant isn't the real tea, its a cup of hot water. Tea is similar to coffee grinds in that there's multiple types and each different type requires less or more heat and steeping time. I think I'm the only tea enthusiast here though, lol, so I won't go too far into it.

    Thanks for the post!

Well, I am pleased to find my 24/7 8600 MT/s memory overclock settings on the Apex are going to work fine on the Apex Encore as well.  So, it looks like both systems will be running the same daily driver overclock settings. 60x on P-cores, 47x on E-cores, 50x on Cache and 8600 on memory.

I will probably have to dial them back to 59x on P-cores when the hot summer weather returns. With the winter weather and my office window left open to let the cool air (and tons of dust) in I am able to keep my office between 65-70°C F compared to the normal 78-82° F hotbox it turns into the rest of the year.

  12. Here's some more high-quality photos of the Keynovo IF98. You can also get this board in solid white and solid black instead of translucent blue like ours.

I have two 8350's on hand, my old one which I thought was dead that was pulling 4.8GHz stable no problem with the AIO cooler I have.  And another lapped CPU from neurotix that he claims is capable of 5GHz daily.  I noticed the lapped CPU runs significantly hotter than my original FX 8350 though, so it might be a heat limitation like you were saying.

With my lapped FX-8350 at 1.55v, 5GHz I used a Thermaltake Frio tower heatsink for a while and then got a H100i. It kept it around 45-50c in games. In benching I would see temps up to 70c all core; AMD said at the time that the tjmax for the CPU is 62c but then reneged and said it's fine to run them up to 70c but not for prolonged periods of time. Don't put it under Prime95 at 1.55v 5GHz and it should be ok otherwise for really anything you want to do with it.

When I sent it to Luke, it was fully functional and was pulled from my mom's office/light gaming box where it ran stock except for the RAM which was 2400MHz 10-12-12-31. (I still have this RAM if you ever want it). It worked fine. However, in benching for the team cup Luke was putting like 1.7v through it on water so that may have damaged it permanently. But when we had it there were no problems like you've described in this thread.

    Hope this helps.

If this person does not claim their prize, that's it. I'm not drawing again and the only winner will be axipher who responded days ago.

  15. Hi all,

I want to permanently and finally get rid of Armoury Crate and Aura Creator. I've installed OpenRGB and plugins under Linux and after messing with it enough, got it to 1) do my vaporwave color pattern and 2) load on login and apply the profile.

However, compared to Asus Aura Creator, for some reason the lights are very pastel and dull. I can provide a screenshot if necessary. Basically its set to Magenta and Cyan and the proper RGB color (255/0/255) but for whatever reason the color isn't as deep and looks more pastel than Aura Creator by a significant amount.

Just looking for help with whatever setting for the effect plugin that will make the colors brighter and more accurate.

    Thanks in advance.

  16. The memclk and uclk are no longer tied to the Infinity Fabric clock. This means there is no huge latency penalty for running RAM "out of ratio".

This means that 3800 RAM/1900 IFclk or 3733/1866 doesn't need to be done nor anything like it. For a 7900x, you can take RAM up to 8000MHz depending on what RAM you get. For a 7700x/7800X3D or any single chiplet SKU, there is really no benefit to running RAM that high as the single chiplet design does not benefit from such high RAM speed. So 6000/6200/6400 MHz with uclk=memclk (which will run at half the RAM speed) with CAS around 36 is essentially the best you can do with a 7700x or 7800X3D.

Someone like @J7SC_Orion or @kalizcould actually probably explain exactly why those lower speeds are all that's needed for the SKUs I mentioned; having a 7900X3D and 7600MHz RAM I don't really know the details myself.

Also, with Zen 4 you can run the Infinity Fabric quite a bit higher, I run mine at 2100MHz with 1.25v SoC voltage, but some people can do 2133 or even 2200.
