  1. Hello guys!

I love doing graphic design, but find myself without work for a long period of time. I thought I could offer to make graphics for members of the community to use as avatars or signature banners.

See my portfolio for examples of my art.

    I can do:

    - Glitch art of your face or your rig or whatever, with the highlights/colors being any two colors you want

    - Cool gradients for a background

    - Circuit style traces with a copper gradient

    - Threshold filter on your rig or setup, basically a cool black and white version of whatever you send me

    - I can insert anime, manga, or comic book characters, actors, "hot" women etc.

    - Text in whatever font you want, check out dafont.com and let me know which one you like, or I could use the "Retro Computer" font (it's the one in my current sig image)

    - Brushes like clouds, paint splatter, swirls, techy circles or hexagon grids, blood dripping, flowers or plants, etc. These work like stamps and they can be in any color or gradient you want.

    - Can do a panorama of your rig sorta like my current Ai Crystal signature

    - A lot more, if you tell me what you want I will try and make it

Avatars will be 500x500px and shrunk down by the site when you upload it.

Signature banner size is determined by your member status.

    - Regular members are allowed a 250x90 sig banner

    - Premium Bronze is allowed 450X110

    - Premium Silver is allowed 500x125

    - Premium Gold is allowed 500x125

    - Premium Platinum is allowed 600x150

Please post here if interested, just be aware that because of my pain issues and other stuff I may not respond immediately or it may take some time and this will be done on a first come, first serve basis. Also, my position and work on Foldathon banners, promotional banners for social media, and merchandise art comes first.

When the art is completed I will pm you a zip file with the final .png in it, because the site compresses images when uploaded so you don't want to download it if I posted it in this thread as it will be inferior quality.

Hope there's some interest in this. Thanks guys.

  2. Hat looks great, shirts look great too. I especially like the last shirt and am glad you found a use for my grid I posted.

Is it possible to do the ExtremeHW.Net logo on a hat or is it too long/wide? I can make a version of that without the .net if that would work on a hat. I really want a black hat with the full logo.

  3. So an update on my pain condition. Remembering that it's my neck, my low back (which has gotten quite a bit better generally from the microdiscotomy procedure), and especially, my hips.

I first saw a hip doctor who I never even met: just was attended to by his main PA. They took an MRI of my left hip and I have the cam and pincer impingement, as well as mild to moderate arthritis in the joint. I had steroid injections with a 3 inch needle and 40mg Kenalog in both hips. I hurt really bad from them for like two weeks. I went back, doctor said I needed a hip replacement. Referred me to a different doctor in the organization that does that.

Anyway, he brought up my MRI and xray on the screen and said my arthritis in my left hip was mild and he thinks I have burcitis, which is basically an issue with the burca, basically something on the outer leg bone (where I don't have pain, my pain is in the joint itself.)iStock-654812694.thumb.jpg.8c715b564670e0f61e8ea1bbe9290c76.jpg

He injected the burca with steroid- didn't hurt me, hasn't helped me. I've also been sent to do physical therapy for burcitis 2 times a week for 6 weeks, and I am going back to the same physical therapist I've seen previously for my neck and low back. I am sure she will take measurements of the angle of rotation of my hip joint before and after, and after will be worse.

So essentially, I feel I've been misdiagnosed.

Maybe if I do the physical therapy and it makes things worse (which is what happened with my back- on the function scale for low back, 40-60% is severely disabled. When I started PT for the low back the score was 50. Afterward, the score was 70, and 60-80% qualifies as crippled.) I might be able to get a hip replacement but I kind of doubt it and I think the doctor knows my insurance likely won't cover a hip replacement, I think there is also some reverse ageism going on because I get told I'm "young" and they don't want to give me a hip replacement because of that (I'm 38).

Anyway, there's my update on what's going on with me. I had a good couple of pain days in a row, but am having a really bad time today, especially with sitting and with my left hip with a constant moderate ache.

I hope everyone finds the relief they need.

  4. So yeah, a few days ago I ran my card in Linux at it's normal OC with mem OC so it was folding with core clocks of around 2955-2940MHz or so, and the RAM was 12210. Those 2 days I  did 27-28m points. This is folding almost nothing but project 18213. The last 3 days or so I just OCed the core to the same clocks but left the memory at stock, and I've done 30m. It seems like memory overclocks on the 4090 do not help and may actually negatively affect your points. I think @Avacado and @keeph8n are correct.

    See here: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=1311203

  5. Dunno if I'll do it or not, but yeah the higher boost speed plus DDR5 might help. EDIT: I don't play games much and yes I care a lot about better bench scores on HWBOT as I am in the top 100 in the US and top 100 in the Enthusiast league. I play Forza Horizon 4 and 5 and I haven't tested/benchmarked 5 on the Extreme preset, but on Ultra I get 162 fps or so in the ingame benchmark and I only have 70% GPU load doing so. All the rest if my games are older, I need to play ROTTR and that would run fine on like a 7970 and an old 4 core i7.

  6. It's a shame how much of a letdown this has been.

Do you guys think I would benefit in gaming from upgrading to a 7900x, G.skill DDR5-6000, and a Crosshair X670-E Hero? I'd also need to replace my Arctic Liquid Freezer II with an H150 to be able to fit the board. But I have the money. I really feel like the 5900x in Ai Crystal is holding back/bottlenecking my RTX 4090.

I game at 3440x1440, 144 Hz. I think the resolution is high enough that CPU might not matter, but the framerate thing might need a faster CPU.

If you think it'd just be a waste of money and effort for no gain, then let me know. (edit: psst I just really want that mobo in my build lol)

Congrats dude. I'm glad you have a role in something you enjoy doing 🙂

Yes, I really really enjoy doing it, and have been working on GIMP tutorials, collecting more brushes and fonts, as well as a script file that adds back in Layer FX that allows you to easily make glowing text, among other things.

  8. Thank you everyone, I have put a link to everything I've done for the site (and a few other things) in my signature. It will be regularly updated, so perhaps we will see my progression over time, as I really really want to improve and do the best I can in this role.

  9. I didn't do that pixel art. Are you asking me to do pixel art of the whole logo or something? I could do it and probably include the outline, as well as the gradient if I do it over a layer of the logo with opacity set to 50%. I used to do pixel art for a game I played dot by dot in ms paint. But I really would not be thrilled doing that as I have to do it zoomed in pixel by pixel and it might take a day or two of work.

If you simply want me to improve the existing one you posted, I can do that and put a gradient in. Not really sure what you need.

Another thing you could try to work on if you want to is the simple embroidered pixel art logo. If you want to try and improve it/redo it, that could be helpful. The design needs to be very simple, use basic flat colors, and have no small peices.

I am not sure what you are talking about? Can you provide a link to the image I assume I made with this in it, and I'll see what I can do?

I'm surprised they haven't brought Threadripper back since Zen 2 to be honest.

Yeah, or at the very least re-evaluate launch prices for 6 and 8 core parts. I don't think $300 for a 6 core makes much sense in 2023 for example.

But yes, I would be interested in seeing if future architectural improvements include more cores per CCD. I don't think you are getting more than 2 CCD's on a mainstream chip still unless they do a newer Threadripper where there is a bigger package to fit additional CCD's.

It can be done with miniaturization, add more cores per CCD. Don't know how long we'll be waiting for that, or how what fabrication node would allow it, etc.

I always found Zen 4 to be more an iterative release following Zen 3. Smaller process, so clock and efficiency gains, but nothing drastically different than Zen 3 architecturally.

I'm really waiting for Zen 5 to see what they do there.

Yes, I had to planned to do that too. I personally am waiting for like 24c/48t 8950X, and a cut down 20c/40t 8900x, or something like that. I think core counts need to go up, they've been the same since Zen 3.

I have the original version with the volume slider that came packaged with Altered Beast. It's currently in storage in the original box.

I also owned two of the 2nd gen smaller consoles but both of them died years ago.

I'd have to dig out the games to get a full list. Off the top of my head I have most Sonic games, Streets of Rage 2, Combat Cars, Mortal Combat, NBA Jam etc.

I'll be in Chicago for work all week but I'll try to get the full list and that thaiphoon burner info to you when I get home.

    Gotcha. Here's my Genesis games:

If you ever want to borrow any, let me know. You could pm me and I could ship them to you then you send them back when done.

Also don't worry about the Thaiphoon report. Not upgrading. Will be returning the memory.

This kind of thing won't really work for a shirt because it has too many small pieces that will flake off very quickly. If you want to send me just the dixie cup background image and the logo as separate images I can try to use them for something.

Keep in mind, this style of shirt will have images printed on them, not died into the fabric so they will wear out over time and the more small individual pieces there are, the faster it will wear out. Something like this would wear out very fast. Thicker bolder designs are best.

    OK, no problem.

The cup logo is low res. If you need me to make it bigger, let me know. (It's the one I found on Google)

    Hello Neuro,

Once I have another look at the store I will take some screenshots of the T-Shirt products so that you can take a look and choose.

The store works in $ so once I know the price for the items you want I will let you know the cost 🙂

Sorry for the delay, things busy here at the moment and I have not had a chance to look at the store yet, hopefully in the next couple of days.

    Thanks,

    E

Sounds good. I am glad we don't need to deal with currency conversion.

  16. I was going to get the 7900x3d for benching and gaming, and bought a Crosshair X670E Hero and G.skill Flare X DDR5 6000 cas 36. Found out the Hero board had like over one inch tall heatsinks on the top VRMs that would not fit in my case (midtower with a thick AIO) returned the Hero board, will be waiting a month to get nearly $700 back from Amazon

Now that reviews are out, and it's only 6% faster than Intel, but from what I understand the review guidelines from AMD told them to sandbag the Intel and only run 6000MHz memory on it (correct me if I'm wrong), yet users on this site like Bastiaan_NL are running Intel with memory speeds approaching 8000MHz, it means Intel is still faster with more highly clocked memory.

I won't be upgrading. I was hoping for a 10% IPC improvement clock for clock, possibly more over my 5900x because it boosts higher, and an additional 25% performance improvement in games and benches. Making it at minimum 35% faster than what I have. But since that is not the case, and you also can't manually or per-CCX overclock it for benching, I'll continue to wait.

How much improvement would I get going to a 7900x factoring in it can boost to 5.6GHz vs 5.15GHz on my 5900x?

Pics of the beautiful board I had to return. I have also looked at Asus other X670 boards and seen a few B650 boards and they all look like they have too tall VRM heatsinks on the top to be able to clear my rad fans.
