  1. I got this kit because my current Flare X in my 5900x build has been amazing. I ran it out of ratio at 4266MHz cas 19 once. And it's rated for 3200MHz 14-14-14. I counted and it was 15 dividers higher.

Anyone know what dies that kit has? For my X3D upgrade (if it even happens, returned the Crosshair X670-E Hero because of the stupid VRM heatsink, also looked at the ROG Strix X670 Gaming and it looks like it's VRM heatsink also won't fit under my radiator fan). Just curious if the kit I got is good or not.

  2. Crosshair X670E Hero. Except its top heatsink won't fit in my rig behind a radiator fan.

Its topmost VRM heatsink is like more than an inch tall. This is the clearance to the radiator fan in my midtower case. Current board barely fits.

  3. This is what I'm talking about.

The heatsink on my C8H for vrm is not even an inch tall and is pushed right up against the fan. I have to have a ROG board as their bios is what I'm used to and those are the only boards I've bought since 2011.

I may not be able to do this upgrade. Or I might need a different case which I really don't want to do, don't have space on my desk for a full tower and love my current case ..

  4. I could take a look and possibly take it off but it looks like its connected to the I/O shroud. Will probably just return it, I think my wife already put in for a return at Amazon.

  5. Bad news. Got the Crosshair X670-E and was so psyched about it. Unfortunately, my case is a midtower case and my AIO is like 38mm thick with fans instead of 22mm thick like a Corsair AIO. Looked at the top of the board, and it has absolutely huge and overkill VRM heatsink on the top that won't fit in my case, as the fans on the bottom of my AIO hang down pretty far and would be in the way. I love the way it looks and is designed and really want to use it, and didn't know this would be an issue.

Will be looking carefully at the X670 Strix board to try and determine the height of the topmost VRM heatsink to make sure it will clear my radiator fans. In comparison to my Crosshair VIII Hero, this thing had like an inch long heatsink.

I'd take photos of my current build so you guys could see the issue but for some reason I can't upload anything larger than 1.46mb and I'm not compressing photos on my phone or whatever, this has only been since yesterday night, messaged Enterprise about it, the limit was like 4mb before.

  6. Alright, I've got winners.

    Logitech Headset- keeph8n
    $50 paypal- Cerberus
    $50 paypal- Q_Cruncher

keeph8n I need you to pm me your address to claim the headset

Cerberus and Q_Cruncher need to provide me their emails/PayPal to claim the $50 PayPal gift cards.

Thanks guys and great foldathon. I did 88m which is more than I thought I would without 18601 units, last month I did 92m.

    @keeph8n@Cerberus@ dunno who Q_Cruncher is.

  7. Personally, I know for a fact that my benchmarks on my 4090 Gaming X Trio for hwbot are being held back by my 5900x. That I just got. There is a CPU bottleneck even with it boosting to 5150MHz in games and doing all-core loads at 4750MHz. But I think my wife agreed to this because I've never had an entirely new build (sans drives and a case and fans etc) at once, and also because she wants my current setup in her machine.

Two things I'm worried about for Ai Crystal: getting the thermal pad off of my NVMe drive since it has a metal heatsink with a thermal pad on it. Also, my board not having BIOS support for the chip so once I put it in I doubt it will post without me upgrading the BIOS using USB BIOS flashback. Also a little concerned about the board fitting underneath my rear fan, and my radiator pushing on or possibly blocked by the 8-pin EPS connectors. But my wife and I will figure it out and get it done. I really hope my AIO will fit and align with the screwholes. Also, getting this monster 4090 out of my case might be an issue, since it's a midtower, the rear screw thing for the GPU is like outside the back of the case and makes it difficult to remove GPUs (with my old 1080tis we had to use a pliers to bend the aluminum mounting bracket that the screws go in to be able to get them out of the case).

I love my machine and if the 7900x3d can boost higher for games (All I play really is Forza Horizon 4 and 5 and very occasionally but I plan on benchmarking them both before and after to see how much the extra cache improves the score), it can boost higher for benching, can do faster all core speeds for stuff like Cinebench, plus has up to 25% more performance from the extra L3 cache then it seems like a worthy upgrade to me. And I was planning on waiting for Zen 5 like ENTERPRISE but with this upgrade I'll have a good board and RAM for when Zen 5 drops in like 2026 or whenever. They supported AM4 for a long time, they will probably support AM5 too, and if I bought a 13900k I'd probably have to replace the motherboard when I want to upgrade. 13900k is on a dead platform and as usual Intel would require a whole new motherboard. I'd get way better scores in 3Dmark2001SE and 3Dmark2003 with Intel as Ryzen does terribly in those benches, but I can live without those globals.

And sorry if it seems like I'm hijacking your thread but we're getting or trying to get a similar setup. Maybe I should make my own thread.

  8. Nice setup you're getting.

    I'm getting the ASUS Crosshair X670-E Hero, and G.skill Flare X DDR5 6000 cas 36-36-36.

I will also be after and hope I can get my hands on the 7900x3d.

I'd like to see these effect applied to the metal gear logo you made. I bet that would look pretty cool.

    Sure. I can do that.

I actually was in the process of making some glitch logos for fun and to post here, and want to make myself a sig image, but E told me some work on a project had problems so now I have to do that. HOWEVER, I still did these relatively fast. I will try to remember to do the metal gear logo one too, pm me this week if I forget and don't get to it.

Orange and blue and HSV noise.

Teal and magenta, white background, ton of HSV noise and some wind.

Probably not usable but amusing, its lime green and pink with a curve bend on both the top and bottom.

  10. I think like I said I actually do have 2x 8 pin eps but they can be split and used for a 4 pin. I think.

Thanks though, good to know if i don't the system will still work.

Now I just gotta pray I can even get my hands on a 7900x3d, I expect them to sell out fast.

  11. Hey guys, my current Crosshair VIII Hero has 1x8 pin eps and 1x4pin eps. Both are connected.

I am considering upgrading to the Crosshair IX Hero and getting a 7900x3d when it drops but saw that the board requires 2x8 pin eps connectors and I *might* have another 8 pin cable in my psu box but I'm unsure.

So question is, would I be able to run this setup and have it post and work with just 1x 8 pin eps?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

EDIT: I actually may have two 8 pin that can be split to a four pin and thats whsts hooked up, with a 4 pin extra. My radiator and fans cover the eps connectors up.

Look at the right side, there's two flat mounted eps cables that look like they have the same amount of wires and possibly pins.
