Well I got it booting now after disabling CSM and enabling 4G Decoding. I did a test on one M40 with the small fan and temps managed to stay low enough for max boost clocks :). However we will have to see how it goes with all 6.

The thing is, the noise is loud haha. Depending how it goes, may put in exhaust fans to the lid.

So the tests so far are ok with the small fans blowing cool air down through the heatsinks.

Now as part of a cunning plan, im modding up the lid panel so I can pop in 3x120mm fans. As not a lot of heat rises out of the case as it is pushed through the back, im initial thinking of having these fans blow down onto the GPU's. Either way the fans position will be central over the GPU allowing for airflow to blow down directly on the GPU core section. May make no difference at all, but it should help cool down the back plate exterior of the cards.

It doesn't look like you used the green shrouds, was there not enough room? They connect on the back where the 3 screw holes are (They only use 2 of them). The fans clip directly into the shrouds and they force almost all of the air over the heatsinks. If you can make space to do it that way I highly suggest it as you could run the fans lower with more air forced over the heatsinks. It would however force air out of the front of the GPU's directly into the AIO. You could use them in a pull at the end but it is not as effective as push with air coming out the front.

Yeah so the AIO at the front is configured in push/pull but the wrong way lol, so I cable tied the fans to the front of the GPU, Seems to work fairly well. If it does not work out well after I get the other fans in I will alter the AIO.

An update for my fans... lol.

So a little case modding later, installed 3x 120mm Gentle typhoons into the lid and it made a huge difference. Even with the small fans I was hitting 75-80 but now around 64-66c.

Clearly the cool air blowing directly on the exterior of the gpu and the backplate help's.

Update time.

So I am pleased to say that we are virtually there now, modding of the lid is now complete with its dust filter and grills. Grills are in place to stop any loose wires from getting snagged up in the fan if anyone was wondering lol. What you see below is pretty much the finished article, now just to set it up. Did I mention this things weighs a fair bit lol.

Question my good chaps.

Now this is possibly down to having a tougher work unit, however I am getting between 1.3 and 1.7 mill PPD with all cards folding, all at max clocks as I did check. Took a quick snapshot as below.

IMG20210514130450.thumb.jpg.026981e71db95c3778290010647b80c0.jpg

Is the project listed in the client one of the tougher ones ?

Fyi this is a vanilla install of the client, so there are no flags/optimization set. Are there any I should consider ?

Wondering if I should check to disable RBAR.

If needed I will dump logs on my next test run.

1st, double check that you have your passkey saved. It really looks like you don't have your passkey on, or you might not have reached the threshold to gain your early return bonus yet.

2nd, change preference to COVID WU's (It may not assign them, but helps) I don't immediately recognize any of the current WU's you are crunching. The 14300's are the bread and butter on the M40's.

3rd, make sure you are adding the advanced string to each GPU. I don't run Beta string on them. "unit_type:Advanced"

4th, These cards take forever and you really suffer when you download the next projects even 2 minutes before completion. You are going to want the string "next_unit_percentage:100" so that your new units don't DL until the previous is finished.

Can you give a GPU-z Screen shot of the Tesla's? Make sure they have the box checked for CUDA and aren't running Open CL. I had a few driver issues early on that I had to deal with.

Premium Platinum - Lifetime

There is no difference between base credit and estimated credit, though you are finishing them in time. So like Avacado said you are missing the QRB, most likely because of missing a passkey or not enough units (10).

Besides that you are also folding for Anonymous and team 0, might want to change that :classic_tongue:

Thanks guys.

Will make those changes. I always forget about the big difference the passkey makes along with the minimum WU submission. Will also pop those flags in and take a look at GPU-Z to make sure CUDA is being used and not OpenCL.

I do not recall the Folding client being as much as a PAIN IN MY ASS as it is now. For some reason it wont save configs. It will not save the flags I pop in, as soon as you hit save the client flashes, go back in and nada, configs are gone. Also seemed to have dropped my Team and Passkey info.

Anyone have TeamViewer and want to have a play ? Snowed under so dedicating time to troubleshoot is not going to happen.

I have had this before, try changing config on one GPU slot, hitting OK, saving and then moving on to the next. Sometimes when changing advanced settings on all slots at the same time, it wouldn't save.

Good to hear :)

The Chrome Dark Mode will have to do, we'll survive.

What are you doing? Don't support extending the time frame of Dark Theme! lol

Just look at it! I can't see what I'm searching for. I'm dying slowly, but I think that's a common problem to have.

I got all confused with the extra step of opening the folding client since you didn't set a default browser lol. "It just opens for me, what is this." ?
