Nice! I have CP2077, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet (hasn't even been launched yet). I still need to pick up FS2020. Last Flight Simulator I had was FS2000 and then FSX lol. Been a very long time since I've played Flight Sim. I imagine my performance will be similar to your 3090 except for 12GB vs 24GB if that matters for either title.

Flight Simulator 2020 4K is my fav app and it typically gets the biggest chunk of my game time budget. FS2020 used to be horrible on CPU optimization (it would hammer one thread almost continuously at near 100%) but a big pile of patches later, it started to behave better. My 5950X still regularly maxes at 5050 to 5075 MHz on one core, but the latest patches combined with the improved DX12 beta for FS2020 and DLSS3 / Frame Insertion have literally transformed the whole thing ! image.gif.6b756aebb3612ee5e859cec153c25da5.gif ...At 4K max everything (including detail on 400/400) w/ DLSS3 and F.I. with DLSS on 'quality', it gets close to a consistent 120 fps even in trickier scenery such as flying low over a metro area.

DLSS3 and Frame Insertion on FS2020 were one of the big 'launch partner' apps for the 4090s, and it really does work, even in tricky situations such as flying deep through high-rise canyons in a big metro area in a snow storm at night where you need instant response. My 3090 on FS2020 was entirely playable but the big challenge in FS 2020 isn't really the GPU but the CPU optimization (the CPU does a lot of the detail / ground pre-rendering). The key with DLSS3 is that it offloads from the CPU to the GPU. Re. frame insertion, that normally would introduce  extra latency but the RTX4K has additional hardware to counter that. I now get to enjoy the C1 OLED at a full 120 fps in FS2020 with 4K max everything...

@Bastiaan_NL, @Avacado & Co... new rules EEC info anyone ?

I finished updating the build and ran a few benchies at 3DM 😃...

Hof_4090_5950X.thumb.jpg.a24841897b34ad18bc8f7f469ab68218.jpg

...apart from my Port Royal at 30,337 (not shown or subbed as it was bugged), I also didn't sub some other results, including those which would have gotten me into the top 5 HoF / single card for any hardware combo (i.e. Graphics Score)....

Hof_unsubbed.jpg.027de65198fa45f0b35a53c23d36c447.jpg

While I am all for extra checks and balances applied to everyone, I already stated that the motivation behind the loudest voices seem to be their own HWBot points-spread interest...further, there are artefacts checkers out there (as shown before) they could have incorporated into SystemInfo for everyone and all hardware. Instead, the ECC requirement at HWBot just hits latest gen of NVidia cards but not others. This introduces a skew, for example in favour of the upcoming AMD 7900XTX. While I expect the 4090 to continue to dominate, I just don't like uneven weights applied in what is supposed to be same rules / level playing field for everyone comp.  In any ace, I haven't subbed HWBot for years, so it is more of a philosophical thing. Here is the impact of EEC (note the 23 GB instead of 24 GB tags)...obviously, it is slower by design as it also involves extra cycles.

memtest_vulkan.thumb.jpg.ac2c4a8fbb48bbc3617757abf0dc2be2.jpg

That said, as I expected, NVidia released a new driver that helps memory speed for regular and EEC (though nowhere near enough for the iron-ball-and-chain handicap). Also, a special GALAX HoF vbios appeared 'just yesterday' - unusual in that it was written specifically for the 1x 12VHPWR cards, instead of the 2x 12VHPWR feeds the Galax 4090 HoF OCL uses ...the rest of the 1x 12VHPWR is pure XOC, and it runs up to 667 W (some folks have seen 680+ W), basically half of what the 2x 12VHPWR is capped at...I haven't loaded it yet but look forward to it, along with the new faster driver 😁

...that 'wild' RTX 4090 Galax vbios is s.th. else. While heat is not an issue, it does truly behave like a XOC vbios...among other things, it doesn't really downclock. As posted elsewhere at EHW.net, at 115% out of 121% PL, it was already pulling > 661 W in OCCT GPU test. I am 'too chicken' to see where the full 121% would land me in terms of watts...

4090_661-5_1080u.jpg

...and some more minor visual updates on the Raven twins'...next stop: New mobo for one of them, perhaps early next year when I have actually figured out what to get (Z790 or AM5). If only there would be more 'trusted' leaks about the alleged 7950X3D at this stage...

Well, I don't have to go into detail about my opinion on the possibility to purposely bug a benchmark and get crazy scores.
As far as the rules go, at this moment it's a mess they are trying to clean up afterwards. I know it's impossible to test every benchmark with all the hardware before putting the rankings online on the bot. So we are the test subjects, and we figure out what is wrong. Sadly that messes up the whole rankings on the bot, maybe it's an idea to put a new gen GPU in beta before actually counting the points towards someones account.
So I don't like ECC, but we need something like that to clean up the score board and make it somewhat fair.
I'm just watching from the sideline, waiting my turn to turn in a few runs with a 4090. For now I think it's just a waste of time, better use yours to play a game or use it for work instead of trying to beat a score of someone that loves flashing screens and magic beams everywhere 😂

I agree that there are other options, and the motivation behind bringing this subject up might not have been actual 'clean' benching but it has been a problem and needs to be solved.

Uneven weights are not fair, and the way it hits the latest cards is just crazy.

...on ECC, I know folks are subbing scores with artifacts (because they actually posted that info...). But to do manual culling retroactively is stupid, IMO - because what about someone who is just very good re. efficiency and prep ? Which one is which ? As I mentioned before, to make it fair, there should be a quick artifact checker incorporated into SystemInfo right before the actual bench starts...

...also: I don't need to buy a GPU LN2 pot because...I'm a pack-rat 😬

More like: "I'll pay for the LN2" and I'll bring a pair of 3090's, a few voltmodded GPU's, a Z790 Apex, 13th gen and 12th gen CPU's and memory 😄

I thought it would be more expensive honestly. Lets go ahead and start planning this. J7 doesn't have to be on board with the plan, we'll just show up.

...sadly, nobody will be home as we will be spending our Christmas up in the Whistler area...

...😃:

WhistlerWeather_Dec17-2022.thumb.jpg.8c7dd0b69f3e9f90b98db7e54b0f20ad.jpg

...in the old days, 'cold' winter weather would have been perfect for benching, but 4090s' VRAM likes it warm and cozy (25+ C ambient for the runs below). Doesn't matter much as the card already hit 3210 MHz on core when still air-cooled and on stock vbios...but new Galaxy still helps...managed to do several Superposition 8K runs at 3195 MHz (effective) and one at 3210 MHz.

I am having a blast with Unigine's games within their benchmarks. Below is a game 'temptation' via some interesting levers in Superposition. Unigine's Valley is similar - one can float around the forests and mountains > very relaxing. While these are older titles w/o FSR, DLSS3, ray tracing and the like, it is still very entertaining and relaxing at the same time...

...nope, just a special Galax vbios (see above).  Top-10 Superposition 8K has a lot of LN2ers, so 3210 on water makes me happy.

EDIT - ...and since it is bitterly cold outside, I also did a few runs with the Raven_B's X399 MSI Creation Threadripper (oc at 340 W) and its 2x 2090 Ti Aorus Extreme Waterforce WB I got four years ago (oc 380 W each).  That warms up any room in a jiffy, even with - 11 C outside 😄

EDIT# 2, back to the 4090...I think I found the absolute max core speed on water... 😬

...the time has come !
Once I get past the overload of Christmas turkey, ham and various forms of cranberry sweets, Raven_B will be made ready to accept it's Christmas present - another GPU (for a total of x3). The 2x w-cooled 2080 Ti in NVLink will be joint by the w-cooled 3090 Strix on the X399 Creation TR motherboard (which does support 3x GPU according to the manual; in addition to offering resizable_BAR). This behemoth build - which also has a second mobo with w-cooled CPU on the back - already weighs more than a 100 pounds in its current state , so what's a few more pounds   ?

...the 3090 Strix is a great clocker and has a 2ndary vbios up to 520W; I've had it since late January '21 and it has a Phanteks block, thermal putty throughout and an additional heatsink on the back for extra VRAM cooling (24 GB of GDDR6X). Let the games begin ! That and additional work tasks that like lots of CUDA cores and VRAM...

I love that crazy idea, good luck 😄

...well, I hate to see a fast w-cooled RTX 3090 just hang around the home-office on a shelf doing nothing... Also, I got that build-itch-fever again, but I am also still waiting for CES 2023 to figure out future build-paths (AMD X3D ? 13900 KS?). The Threadripper has very good memory performance and a ton of PCIe x 16 (3.0) lanes. Soooo....

...a combined 19,200 CUDAs, 872 TMUs, 200 ROPs, 872 tensor cores, 150 ray tracing units and 46 GB VRAM sounds reasonable to me at this stage, especially for rendering tasks 🤔

...Banzai ! @Bastiaan_NL check out those edgy PerCap reasons after a 3DM run...

So you are telling me that all those other GPU's in storage shouldn't be in a system too? I mean, so much hardware not being used.. Such a shame 😂
I will not turn around and look at the storage rack behind me....
I don't know what you are rendering with that much power, but I bet it'll be a quick and easy task!

What are we comparing here? The clock speed looks like a 2080Ti or something.

The one on the right looks pretty clean, way less spikes compared to the left one.
Also, what are you feeding that power supply? 12.5/6 volt is something I've never seen on any of my PSU's, and it seems to drop a lot under load 🤔

...re. older GPUs, they're like many of my horse friends (Percherons) here; they are enjoying pasture...

...some of them, like 2x 780 Ti Classifieds, come in every once in a while for some retro-gaming

@Bastiaan_NL As to the GPU-Z screenie, yes that was my Threadripper system w/ the two 2080 Ti Aorus Xtreme WF WB (factory water-block) - the one which is about to house the 3090 Strix as well. The 2080 Tis can clock a bit higher, but I tried a different setting in the new mobo-bios I flashed, and voila ~340 W just for the TR CPU...add in the ~750 W (before transient spikies) for the GPUs and another ~150 W or so for peripherals (3x D5s, lots of fans etc) and before you know it, the 1300W Platinum PSU starts to wheeze a bit. Speaking of which, yes, it likes to juice 12 V up first so that I can droop down a lot - like a kid on a slide.  With the 3090 in there, I'll add a second PSU for that triumvirate.

FYI, I added FSUltra best 3DM score yesterday; was going for some of the other 3DM benchies but then noticed I had those anyway from a few years back...
