Today, we're proud to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC on November 5th, with special bonuses available to players who pre-purchase through the Rockstar Games Launcher starting October 9th. It's also coming to Epic Store, Humble Store, GameStop (I'm guessing a product key to activate via Rockstars Launcher), Green Man Gaming on the 23rd of October as well as Steam in December.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first one, so it might be worth playing RDR2 first then RDR1. Of course, you will have to get a console for RDR1 as it never made it's way to PC. It's on PS3, 360 as well as PS4 and Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

Oh what ? That is a shame, have to bust out a console for it, luckily I do have a PS3 under the bed !

I picked up an Xbox 360 for $200 when they announced they would stop manufacturing them since I still have all my old games. Pretty decent deal for some nostalgia, and I've already played through some old games and purchased one or two (notably Halo 3) games that I never played back in the day. RDR1 is on that list as well, may get around to it some time. Maybe if I enjoy that enough I'll look into RDR2, I've heard lots of good things.

It's okay. Rockstar servers are terrible if you're buying it from there. You'd probably be lucky to get more than 50Mbps anyway. If you're going to get it from Steam, it's still going to be a 5 hour download though.

Yeah by the time I want to buy it I'll be at my new place which has about 25Mb down on a clear day.

My BB sucks, about 25-30 down. However I live very rural, I am however investigating 4G net which pricing wise is comparative to what I am paying for my slow landline connection. If only 5G were here...though if it was it would cost me an arm and a leg in order to get it sorted.

I run a SteamCache and with the size of this game it is going to "pay for itself" with time saved from this game alone. It stinks that I will need to wait an extra month to get it through steam though...

This is actually a pretty good video tutorial also. It is a bit more updated since it is using Ubuntu 18. You can use either Ubuntu desktop or Ubuntu server. I chose server because this is a VM and it is dedicated to being a steamcache.
