Do you have an ETA on getting your card back online?  I just realized it was still down.  If it is going to be a while longer, I should be able to cover for a bit with an AMD card.

My internet connection is still horrid, but luckily that doesn't affect F@H.  290x should be back online as of this post, 3am PST. 🙂 The operation seems to have been a success.  Full load (F@H) temps went from 78*C with a rattley fan and a lot of noise, down to a nice cool 61*C and silence!  :wheee:

@pioneerisloud @Cerberus  I'm going to drop out of the ETF at the end of the month.  It doesn't look like either of you have been able to contribute recently.  Do you want to disband the team completely?  Or do one of you want to take over?

I'm only out because of summer heat right now.  FX 8350 overclocked and a 290x kinda makes my bedroom toasty.  And we've been having 100*+ weather.  My AC couldn't keep up.  I'll probably be resuming full time folding sometime next month once the weather cools.

For us it was May and June that were oppressively hot 100+ daily, way too early in the year and it was also a drought. But it seemed like as soon as the Gulf got heated up by June it started raining every day so it's back to tolerable 95F but humid as hell. Also for me, I can't HWBOT until it cools down a bit. I'm about to be traveling a lot and hopefully it's a bit cooler when I get home in October like maybe 85-90 😛

It started in the 90's or so in June (about when I quit folding).  We have 90*+ weather June through August typically.  September it usually starts cooling back down into the 80's, and that's about when my AC can keep up with the heat from the rig again.  It's just that one rig that gets the place so hot.  I can have all my Ryzen rigs running (not folding or anything), and its fine.  Fire up that FX rig though, let it idle, and the temperature in the house slowly creeps up.  Let alone folding on it.  I can concur, FX rigs definitely ARE space heaters. :lachen:

It's almost that time for me to fire mine back up! :wheee:

I do need to make sure I don't have any further uses out of that system for the hwbot comp first.  Once I'm 100% sure I'm done with the rig for that, it'll be back on folding for team rats nest! 🙂

Shouldn't be?  I hadn't touched it since I quit folding a few months ago on it.  Just fired it right back up.  It's possible its stuck with updates or something too, I'll check on it later this evening.

@damric or whoever else is in charge of the Rat's Nest team........

I have absolutely zero clue why my 290x isn't wanting to fold.  I just pulled the rig out from the bedroom (headless / folding before hand).  Hooked it up.  The rig is fine.  The GPU is fine.  It ran benchmarks for 90 minutes this morning, whereas folding@home crashes the system near immediately.

I think I'm going to have to throw in the towel on this one and just accept that my 290x can't fold anymore.

As soon as I get my Ryzen 1400 / FuryX system fully done up, I'll see about putting folding@home on that.  Maybe that system will play nicer.  Yes, I have the 6900XT, but I don't want to use that system for folding. 😛  And my 5700XT is too noisy, and the Vega64 is kiddo's rig (he'd throw a fit without his games).  So yeah, FuryX is my next best choice for folding.  Will update once I get that system going and folding (or attempting to fold anyway).

Really wish I knew what was wrong. -_-

It shouldn't. Last thing I baked was a GTX 970. Melting the solder should reform the pathway just as good as when it was initially soldered (Assuming the bake fixes it in the first place).

Why would I bake a working card?  Its been running benchmarks all morning.  The card's fine.  It's an issue with Folding@Home not wanting to work right with the card for some reason (or the driver).

It could be just a bad work unit. I would uninstall F@H including the data files, then re-install. I've had this problem before where it kept failing and re-attempting the same unit.
